"Negligent Medical Care Causes Sepsis, Costs 20K at Sunrise"
So, I admit my dad only stayed for a month. During that brief time, the staff failed to notice he had developed a UTI. About a month after he moved in, he caught sepsis from the undetected UTI and ended up in the hospital. That's why I pulled him out of Sunrise. Though the place looked good, the medical team was a disaster. He told them about his UTI symptoms and even gave them a urine sample. But they lost it and didn't treat his condition, which led to sepsis. On top of that, we shelled out about 20K for that one month. I urge you not to choose this place. They had the nerve to tell me he still owed 3K for the medical care he supposedly received while there. Seriously, I should be suing them instead.

"Quality Care Lacking in Assisted Living Facility"
Some of the workers are really nice, but others act like they don’t want to be there. They don’t have enough staff, which affects how well they take care of people. For instance, when my brother needs help and presses the call button, it can take up to an hour for someone to come to his apartment. On the bright side, the physical and occupational therapy staff at Legacy are excellent, and my brother has made great progress with them. However, the overall quality of care is lacking, especially considering the high cost and additional fees for things like rides. They charge over $[removed] per month just to distribute medications.

"A Great Choice for Families"
Our family really likes Sunrise of North Hills. The best parts are the location, the staff, and the facilities they're all great! Based on our experience, we would recommend this place to other families.

"Cheery Atmosphere and Helpful Staff Make Sunrise a Top Choice"
We chose Sunrise because it felt the happiest of all the places we visited. The building had a good vibe. Sunrise really supported us when we needed it most! Actually, a friend moved their parents into the Memory Care facility after we recommended it. Our experience has been positive for our family, and we would definitely recommend it.

"Adjusting to Assisted Living with Some Hiccups"
We’ve run into a few problems where my mother-in-law didn’t get her medicine or help when she needed it. Also, there were times when her laundry wasn’t washed every week like it should have been. But overall, she’s starting to get used to life at the assisted living place. I think it’s true that no place is totally perfect. They are trying to fix some of the things we’re worried about.

"Mixed Experience but Recommendable Assisted Living Facility"
The people we deal with at this place are great. Just like other places that help with living, they don't have enough staff, so sometimes it takes a long time to get help. My loved one says the food isn't good. But considering how well they take care of her, the way the building is set up, and how friendly and helpful the staff are, I would definitely tell my friends and family to check out this place.

"Room for Improvement in Key Areas"
Based mostly on my mother-in-law's experience, the things that need the most improvement are the meals, the friendliness of the staff, and the quality of care. For the meals, my mother-in-law says some are good and some are not good. This might just depend on what a person likes. But from what I've heard, there have been a lot of changes. The chef left, then other staff left, and then some came back. I'm not sure of the details, but it sounds like there was a lot of upheaval.

"Disappointed with Assisted Living Facility's COVID Response and Care Quality"
I wouldn't suggest this place for loved ones. At first, things seemed okay, but when COVID hit, everything changed. My family member went downhill fast because they were so isolated, and they weren't taken care of properly. The activities during the first week were fine, but once lockdown started, the staff didn't really engage with the residents. Meals were brought to the rooms, but sometimes they were left in spots where my family member couldn't reach them. There was another care agency that came by to help, and they complained to us and the community about the conditions they found my loved one in. I'm upset that I spent so much money on care that didn't live up to the promises made by the facility.

The place feels like a hotel, which is good for residents. The pod alerts worn by residents are also a plus. But the pricing is too high,.

We toured all the Sunrise Properties and were really impressed. The staff was very helpful and friendly during our visit. The community was clean and well-kept. They have medical staff there all the time. The grounds are beautiful, and the community is only about 4 years old.

"Not Enough Parking"
We visited this community, and the parking was really hard to find. The inside looked nice, but it felt a bit dark—maybe because of the furniture. There was some natural light coming in through the windows, though. I thought the community and the rooms could have been more open. On the bright side, the staff and residents were friendly.

"Comfortable Assisted Living Visit"
I visited this place and it was pretty nice. But, it's got three floors which I don't think would be great for my mom. What's cool though is they make the food right there and let the memory care folks pick what they want to eat. The folks we talked to were friendly, and the place looked tidy.

"Convenient location, lots of activities, and good care"
My mom moved here recently, and so far, things are going well. She’s getting involved by playing BINGO and going to a baking class. I tried the food and found it a bit bland, but she seems to enjoy it. We picked this place because it’s conveniently located. The layout is nice, and there are lots of activities available. I also liked that there are more assisted living residents here compared to other places I visited. They provide the level of care she needs.

"Dad Feels at Home"
The staff is doing really well and seems to be giving their best for my dad. Dad has attended a few activities they organize, and he also enjoys the food they serve. I'm glad they maintain the community and Dad's room so clean. Plus, it's nice that some of our church friends are here, so Dad already knows some people.

"High Costs, Confusing Layouts: Mixed Staffing Experience at Facility"
This place is pretty big, but it’s not easy to find your way around, especially if you have memory problems. The staff is numerous, but in the Memory Unit, there aren’t enough compared to what you’d expect. However, some staff members really work hard and are very caring! My main issue is the cost. It’s similar to other places for the rooms, which already seems like a lot (over $5,000!), but that’s just how things are priced. The real kicker is the cost of care, like giving out prescriptions. It’s way higher than other places, sometimes three or four times as much. And even if they say you need low care at first, they might jack up the prices once you’re already moving in.

"Terrible Assisted Living Experience; Investigate Before Choosing"
Over the course of five years, we've encountered countless issues that are simply disheartening. The cleaning services provided are grossly inadequate; we had to hire our own cleaners to tidy up my mom's room, since the staff at Sunrise couldn't manage it. The level of care is below par. Of the 30 occasions we requested for my mother to be dressed and brought downstairs, the task was accomplished only twice. I've encountered staff with better judgement at puppy daycare centers. We were even compelled to invite state investigators because of these concerns.

"Pushy Sales Tactics at Assisted Living Facility"
It seems like a nice place, but it doesn’t feel like a real community. The staff isn’t very familiar with the residents, and the sales director keeps pushing me to upgrade from a one-bedroom to a two-bedroom. She’s called several times with special offers, but when you’re looking for a home for your parents, it’s not the same as planning a vacation.

"A Great Place for Aging Loved Ones"
My parents are happy at Sunrise at North Hills. They're adjusting well and enjoying it. The staff is friendly and quick to help. Sometimes, there's a hiccup in communication from the boss to the workers, but they're trying new things to fix it. Everyone is working hard to make them feel at home. Their dog gets plenty of walks, thanks to the dog walkers. They're not big fans of the lunch and dinner, but they're picky eaters. Luckily, family takes them out often. Dad loves the breakfast though, he says it's fantastic. The activity organizers are trying hard to involve my parents. There are lots of fun things to do here.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Friendly, Caring, and Room for Improvement"
We liked it. The staff was friendly and caring. The food was good and looked appealing. They need better coordination for temporary stays compared to permanent residents, like with mail. Apart from that, they did well.

"Great Facility, Friendly People, Needs Better Communication"
Everything is positive. The facility and people are great. I just wish the care managers could engage my aunt a little bit more. We're very happy she's there. If the rates change, don't leave a voicemail about it. There should be a meeting first. We did work it out, but it was a big misunderstanding that could have been avoided. They need better communication and care updates. Everything else is great.

"Unhappy with Uncompassionate Staff at Assisted Living Facility"
Really not pleased with this place at all. My 95-year-old grandma stayed there for 4 months and we had to move her out. The staff was tough to handle and they didn't show much kindness. They overlooked the fact that the elderly people they're taking care of are loved ones of other people, like a mom or grandma. My grandmother was living there for 4 months and during that time, they had 3 different Directors...

"Memory care failures and bad smell in assisted living facility."
Even though the facility looks good, the services in the memory care section are inadequate when it comes to providing necessary extra care. You'll pay for the additional assistance, but it's just not given. Management and caregivers seem not to communicate properly to ensure that charges for extra help result in the care that is supposed to be paid for. Both my parents live there, and one needs more care than the other. It's obvious that the one who needs more help doesn't get any extra care. The room constantly smells like urine because they don't change their underclothes often enough. The place doesn't use protective pads, even though we told them to.

"Satisfied with food, cleanliness, activities, and visit convenience"
We are pretty happy with this place. The food is good, and there haven’t been any issues with the laundry. Everyone is friendly and the place is clean. It’s nice here, and they do a great job with activities and keeping things busy. We had to choose between this community and another, but this one is easier for us to visit.

"The right choice for peace of mind."
The staff is attentive and responsive to both residents and their families. The facility is clean, calm, and quiet, which comforts the residents. Requests are handled quickly and efficiently, and the staff is respectful and caring. Before Sunrise, I dreaded visiting the noisy, gloomy nursing home Mom was in. Moving her to Sunrise was the right choice. Now, I can sleep well knowing she’s safe and well cared for.
