"Welcoming Assisted Living Facility with Friendly Staff and Excellent Amenities"

The staff here is really nice, and the place is easy to get to. It's super clean, the food is great, and they're flexible about when we eat. There are lots of activities to do, which is nice. Sometimes it takes a while to get answers to our questions, but they have a lot of people to help, so I get it. We're still figuring things out since we're new here, but I'm sure it'll get easier. Everyone we've met has been nice and understanding. And the other people who live here are really friendly too!

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility Renovation Disappoints Expectations"

They've been fixing things up since we visited in October. The person who manages Memory Care is really nice. Sometimes the people who take care of us are good, sometimes not so much. The folks who give out medicine don't always speak English well, and it's hard to tell who they are. I found out that some of the best workers were from outside companies, but the place let them go in December. Some workers seem to like certain residents more and spend more time with them. The food is sometimes not enough for Memory Care, so the workers have to decide how to share it out. It's better now, but the quality of food seems better in assisted living. Some of the food isn't practical for people over 90. The activities were good because there were lots of fun things to do in December, but now there isn't much. Just sitting in front of a TV isn't really being social. I gave the value for money a 1 because we were promised a lot, signed a contract, and paid money, but we're not getting what was promised and they raised the price right away.

"Friendly Staff, Access Limited After Hours"

Our family is really happy with how nice the staff is. They're very patient with her. I don't like that you need to call someone to enter or leave after 6 pm. Sometimes, you end up waiting for a bit.

"Neglectful care and mismanagement at this assisted living facility."

When you put a family member in assisted living, you hope for the best care and attention, but that's not what we got here. The top staff don't say hi when you come in, it takes nearly an hour for a nurse to answer a room call, they don't know how to give out meds right, and they'll jack up the cost without warning you. Don't waste your time or money; put your loved one somewhere else! My grandma's health really slid downhill at this place and I really think the bad care and slow response times played a part in her decline. In fact, I'm sure of it because after she passed, we didn't hear a word from the head nurse or boss to say they were sorry. Don't make the mistake we did - THINK TWICE!!

"Great place for mom with caring staff and fun activities!"

I picked Astoria because the tour was awesome, and they promised to help my mom. I appreciate that they have a special place just for people with memory issues. Besides that, I'd mention to a friend how nice the salon is and all the things to do here.

"Astoria Senior Living: Expensive with Hidden Fees, Confusing Billing"

We think Astoria Senior Living charges too much. They don't tell you about all the extra costs, and their bills are confusing, even for someone who's good with money. We can't afford to move our parent and start paying privately for another two years.

"Upset with Astoria; good service and food but poor response"

I'm really upset about my experience with Astoria. They sent me to the hospital and when I tried to come back, they said I needed too much help and couldn't return. I can't encourage anyone to go there. Their staff was pretty cool and I liked their food. But sometimes, I felt ignored as my call light took forever to be answered. And once, I had to wait three whole weeks for a shower.

"Hidden Fees Galore: Ask Before Moving In"

Before you decide to move here, make sure to ask about additional costs. The base price can quickly double or even more. It seems the "assisted" part will cost you more! They refuse to tell you what they are charging you for when they double or even more each month. To be able to live here and to keep the base price, you have to have no help of any kind. And they will bill you monthly for giving you your required prescriptions a month even if it's one or two prescriptions, and even if it's over the counter! That is not counting the cost of your drugs they obtain from a local company that supplies your prescriptions. Also, if you are ill or having loose bowels, etc., you have to go down to the dining room or be charged for each meal they bring to your room. In other words, you can be on your "death bed" and you are supposed to get out of your bed and go down to the dining room! All in all, they will find ways with excuses to increase your bill. Ask them to itemize their charges. Good luck!

"Incompetent Staff and Insecure Facility Fails to Provide Promised Care"

The staff here is truly terrible. They just don't listen or respect the family's wishes, and they're really hard to work with. They avoid answering my questions and don't give me any information. From my experience, I'd warn others that the care they promise isn't what they provide. If you have legal authority like power of attorney or guardianship, brace yourself. Plus, their memory care isn't kept secure. They casually give out the key code for entrance and exit, which doesn't seem safe to me. I wouldn't ever suggest this place to anyone.

"Caregivers Excel, Management Concerns"

The caregivers at Brighton Gardens of Omaha are top-notch, always attentive and caring. The facility itself is quite beautiful, resembling a fancy hotel. However, there are serious issues with how the company handles things behind the scenes. The management and pricing practices are not transparent. They add charges sneakily and blame it on higher-ups when questioned. It's clear their focus is on profit, not on the residents' well-being. During my frequent visits, I've noticed several maintenance problems that took too long to fix. Even basic things like a broken microwave were neglected until I threatened to escalate my complaints. The turnover among staff is high because they are underpaid, despite doing commendable work. Overall, while the caregivers and staff are wonderful, the management's decisions and the corporate ownership structure detract from what could otherwise be an excellent assisted living facility. Families should consider privately owned communities for more personalized and reliable care.

"Expensive Fees Impact Assisted Living Experience"

This place isn't great for independent care. When they add charges, it becomes one of the pricier places I've visited.

"Assisted Living Frustration"

The assisted living facility seemed okay, but the tour guide bluntly indicated I wasn’t their preferred candidate. Their follow-up email confirmed they couldn’t help me manage the unexpectedly high sign-in fees.

"Warm and Friendly Staff, Clean Environment, and Varied Activities"

The people who work here are really nice and care about my mom. They take good care of her and always talk to us when we need. The building is old but they keep it clean all the time. I like that the dining room and the room for activities are close to each other. My mom says the food is decent and good for her. They have things like exercise classes, parties, and live music for activities. I think other families would like it here.
