Brookdale Spruce Wood
Disappointed Former Client
"Assisted Living Review: Brookdale Spruce Wood"
Brookdale Spruce Wood isn't living up to expectations. Nurses mean well, but there aren't enough, and strange rules hold them back. The management needs a shake-up. Communication seems off between the corporation and individual locations. Before choosing Brookdale Spruce Wood, ask about communication with family, when additional care is needed, and the effectiveness of memory care. Consider other options nearby.

"Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere."
We're thrilled our parents are there. The cost was lower than two other places we visited, and the staff and residents were welcoming. My dad preferred it, even though mom toured Brookdale too.

"Facility Nice, But Issues with Costs and Equipment"
The facility is nice, but the rent went up 12.5% last year, which seems like a lot. They really need to upgrade their old heating and water systems because sometimes there isn't enough hot water due to the old equipment.

"Great medical care and tasty desserts at Brookdale Sprucewood"
We've had a great experience with Brookdale Sprucewood. Dad says the desserts are amazing! I am especially happy with the medical care my parents get. They don't just give daily meds; they test blood sugar four times a day and give insulin. A primary care doctor visits once a week, and other doctors come monthly. For seniors who need more medical care, Brookdale is a great choice.

"Wonderful place, but needs updates and more staff"
Amazing community, my mother LOVES it! The facility is very nice but needs some updating, like better emergency lighting and a bigger generator for storms. Most full-time staff are kind and loyal, but they are definitely understaffed since COVID. They don't have enough hourly help for full dining hours or enough handymen for building needs. These are my only observations, but my mother being safe and in a caring, clean environment means everything. Thanks again for the referral!

"Poor staff and service at Brookdale Spruce Wood"
I strongly advise against Brookdale Spruce Wood. They've had three different directors since we've been associated with them and the nursing staff is really not attentive to my dad's needs in assisted living. They've also switched chefs thrice and my dad was even served frozen pizza for meals, which isn't nutritious at all! I've seen other families here when I deliver food and they're removing their family members from here because it's that poor. I wouldn't suggest this to anyone searching for good care.

"Concerns Over Staff Changes at Clean Facility"
When we first looked around, the place was super clean and nice. But not long after our family member moved in, all the main workers we met during our tour quit at the same time. The boss, the fix-it guy, and the lead nurse all left. Plus, there were a lot of temp workers, which made us feel unsure.
