"Poor Care and Refund Issues at Allegria Assisted Living"

My dad had lots of money left when he moved out from Allegria. But they've been dragging their feet for months on giving it back. They even tried paying us with a check from an account they'd already closed. Dad was staying in the part of the facility for people with memory issues. I saw one of the other people living there, a guy named with pee-soaked pants on more than one occasion. The helpers just chill on their phones instead of doing their jobs. There's nothing fun for the residents in the memory area to do.

"Mixed feelings about assisted living: activities aplenty, limited participation."

It's kinda tough for me to really say because my son doesn't talk much. He's 60, which is pretty young for folks there. They got lots of stuff to do, but he doesn't do much of it. He likes going to church and always gets his meds on time. He can walk into town, which is nice. They organize trips to places like Shoprite and Walmart on the bus. Plus, they have bingo, exercise classes, puzzles, and art classes if you're interested.

"Worst Experience: Lost Items, Ignored Promises and Inaccurate Records"

The service at this place is awful. My folks' laundry and packages kept vanishing. Allegria even held onto the money meant for my parents' personal needs. Moreover, a month after arriving, my dad passed away from Covid even though he got his shot. But they didn't give back the promised money even after 90 days, not just 30. To make matters worse, the nurse who made the death certificate didn't even put down Covid. A doctor had to fix it three days later.

"Terrible experience with false promises and no doctor available"

This place isn't what it claims! My time there was a nightmare. They kept saying they'd have a doctor soon but didn't even after two and a half months. Not having a doctor's care for my family member was a huge problem. Finally, I decided to shift my family member to a different facility. That experience was dreadful too; my relative had to be taken to a hospital and sadly, didn't make it.

"Mixed Experience in Pleasant Setting with Room for Improvement"

This place is in a good neighborhood. The rooms and places to stay are nice. The people who work there are friendly. The experts are helpful. We wish they had more fresh fruits and veggies and a better balanced diet. And for people with memory issues, I think they need more structured activities, maybe led by an OT. But I don't have anything really bad to say about Allegria. Our time there was okay.

"Assisted Living Center Shows Promise with Room for Improvement"

I have a condition that makes me go to the bathroom a lot. I got a medicine from my doctor to help, but they haven't given it to me yet. I've been waiting since Thursday, but nothing has happened. They're not being clear about it, even though I used to take this medicine and it worked well. Apart from that, they take good care of me. They just got a new cook, so the food should get better. Some of the meals have been good. The people who plan activities are really good at keeping us busy. They're worth it. Our bus is broken, so we can't go anywhere right now, but they're fixing it. Once it's fixed, this place is a good deal for the money.

"Welcoming Community with Great Activities for Introverts"

This community is really nice. They have a lot of activities that my loved one is just starting to enjoy, even though they are shy. So far, everything has been going well.

"Comfortable Assisted Living by Water with Friendly Atmosphere and Amenities"

It's really nice here, and my brother is getting used to it. The bus broke down, so we're waiting for it to be fixed. Usually, they take us shopping and to church and other places. It's a good spot by the water. He likes the different meals they serve. He enjoys how quiet it is. He goes outside and walks around the building. The independent living part is on the 4th floor. They have a big room where they can sit and look at the view. The people who live here are nice and friendly. The workers are helpful. He's settled in well. They give him a necklace with a button to press if he needs help for safety.

"Mixed Feelings"

The Allegria at Ocean Grove tour was okay. It felt more institutional, but we prefer apartment-style assisted living with better value. .

"Subpar conditions and poor care at assisted living facility"

My family member stayed in the memory care section of this center. Sadly, the care and conditions weren't good. The staff started off okay, but they quickly fell off their game after we moved in our family member. There were a lot of staff changes and the medical care was poor. Because of this, we had to take our family member out quickly. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone.

"Quiet and Picturesque Community Near Beach with Caring Staff and Activities"

We really like living here in Ocean Grove. It's a quiet and pretty place, and it's close to the beach, which is nice. The people who work here are good. They care about us and pay attention to our needs. The place itself is okay and gives us what we need. They have plenty of things to do, too.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

We couldn't visit much during meals, but they seemed okay. Our family member couldn't join activities due to health issues, so we're unsure about the options. Others in the community looked happy and busy. However, memory care was limited in engagement, especially with COVID.

"Small but Clean Memory Care Room, Friendly Staff"

If you’re looking at the memory care level and your budget is tight, you might end up with what’s called a studio apartment. But it’s really more like just a room. I can’t say much about the other floors because I didn’t get a chance to see them, but the space on the memory floor is super tight. There’s just enough room for a single bed and one small chair. On the bright side, the place is kept really clean, and the people there are super friendly. I didn’t get to check out the Independent or Assisted Living spaces, though.

"Mixed Feelings About Allegria at Ocean Grove"

We visited Allegria at Ocean Grove. The ground floor is nice. But upstairs needs upgrades. Hallway lights are too bright. Walls lack color. Rooms have exposed piping. Odd shapes, some with lake views. Not recommended.

"Mixed Experience for Memory Care Residents"

If you're okay doing things on your own and telling people what you want, it's okay. But if you have trouble remembering things, this place might not be the best choice. The place is kept clean and they fix it up sometimes. The person I care about had their own room and bathroom. But there aren't enough workers on the floor where they help people with memory problems.
