"Challenges at Brookdale Florence"
We faced quite a few challenges when it came to talking with the folks at Brookdale Florence. It was tough because they often didn’t pick up the phone or come to the door. There were a lot of new faces in charge and among the staff, and with everything going on with COVID, it just added to the stress. Not being able to drop by or even get someone on the line was really upsetting. To put it simply, our experience wasn’t the greatest.

"Mixed Experience at Brookdale Florence Assisted Living"
Brookdale Florence is a very friendly place for my husband. The person who helps people decide to move in, the staff is especially nice and does a lot to make my husband's life enjoyable there. Most of the other people who work there are also nice, but sometimes my husband has to wait a long time to get help with things like going to the bathroom. The nurse who works there also genuinely cares about my husband's health. I want to warn people to avoid being sent to Virtual Memorial Hospital at all costs. If you have to go there, you have to keep paying the regular rate to hold your room at Brookdale, plus any extra costs for services, even though you won't be able to use them at Brookdale while you're in the hospital. They told me they plan for the services in advance, so they say they have to charge for them when someone is in the hospital. I don't agree with their explanation because they had the same number of service staff even before my husband moved in. My husband ended up dying at [removed], which is one of the hospitals in New Jersey with a special place for people who need hospice care. Now I'm wondering if the doctors at the hospital were too aggressive in their treatments and recommendations for someone like my husband to start hospice care. Anyway, I wish my husband had lived longer so he could have spent more time at Brookdale Florence, which he really liked.

Brookdale Florence is amazing! The staff is super friendly and really takes care of everyone. The place feels like a real home, not just a facility. It’s beautiful and clean without any hospital-like smell or feel. Plus, the food and activities are fantastic!

"Great care and friendly staff at Brookdale Assisted Living"
Brookdale is a fantastic place. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They always respond well to her needs and take great care of her. Once, when she wasn’t feeling up to eating, someone even went out to buy her favorite soup because they were concerned. They really go the extra mile and show they care.

"Affordable but lacking amenities; older facility; decent atmosphere."
They were really nice, but kinda expensive for us. The building was old. We didn't hate it, but we liked the cheaper place we found more. They didn't offer three hot meals a day with the rent, which my brother wanted for independent living.
