"Caring staff, but issues with physical therapy for memory care"
The staff are wonderful and caring, but the physical therapy people don't want to help memory care residents or don't know how to. The food is okay and the activities can keep you busy. The quality of care for me is basically okay. The doctor comes once a week, there are two RNs, two LPNs, and the rest are CNAs!

"Good Value and Happy Vibes at Assisted Living"
This assisted living place is pretty good. It’s got lots of good points and a few not-so-good ones, but I’d say go for it. The reason I chose it was because of the really nice room available. Plus, the cost was the lowest I found, and the folks there seemed cheerful.

Brookdale is a nice place with friendly staff, good food, and helpful counselors. They're there for residents 24/7, and we trust them with our parents.

"Community with Homey Atmosphere; Use External Medical Care"
I would suggest considering this place, but find a different doctor for medical needs. We chose it because it feels like home. Our focus was on community rather than extra services.

"Caring Community with Efficient Director"
We chose this community because it's friendly, cozy, affordable, and has great food. Mom enjoys being here and aims for her best life. I wish the personal care staff were more consistent. The executive director is amazing and truly cares about people; she's efficient too.

"Decent place for my dad, needs kitchen and bathroom updates"
It's a nice place for what it is. It's good for my dad. They communicate well. They take care of my loved one. I wish they would update the kitchens and bathrooms in their apartments.

"Friendly staff, but facility looks old"
We toured Brookdale Monroe and had a nice experience. Everyone was very friendly. However, the rooms and other parts of the facility looked old and outdated.

"Neglected Loved One and Unanswered Questions at Brookdale Monroe"
Brookdale Monroe was a nightmare, so I moved my mom out. They couldn't even refill her oxygen medicine. All that happens there is that your family member goes to the hospital and you still have to pay for the room. They didn't apply any safety rules either. Wheelchairs and walkers were never locked and secure. Tubes were just scattered all over the floor in her room, which could make someone trip and fall. She didn't look clean and neither did her room. Only two of their workers were actually nice - the rest were rude and sometimes wouldn't even answer my simple questions.

"Issues with Care and Food Service, Strong Staff Communication and Activities"
I've had some problems with the care services here and have a call scheduled later today to address them. The food service also has issues, especially with dementia patients. For example, the hamburger and chicken are very tough and not cut into bite-size pieces. I've spoken with the staff about this and they are looking into it. They offer sandwiches, but the only option is PB&J; I'd like to see more choices available. Sometimes, the staff can rush residents during meal times and take away plates before they finish eating. My mom doesn't participate much, but they do have a decent activities program. They offer Bingo, TV time, music, crafts, and holiday-themed events. The activities director was out for a while but has returned and things are improving. The head staff is very friendly and outgoing. Whenever there's an issue, they work hard to resolve it and keep good communication with the family. Overall, this facility is the best we've experienced compared to others we've been to in the past.

"Great Admins, Poor Caregivers, No Activities"
Although the office staff was top-notch, the caregivers didn't match up. It was like comparing day and night. During our family member's stay, there were no activities to keep them engaged. The caregivers seemed to know very little about our loved one's needs, and communication was seriously lacking.

"Cozy and Welcoming Assisted Living Facility with Excellent Staff Support"
I really liked Brookdale because it's not too big, with only 100 people living there. The inside decorations were really nice and made it feel like a cozy home. Everyone I met who lives there seemed really happy. Jessica was super helpful and answered all of my questions. We got to see all the different room sizes, which were all pretty spacious.

This place was just right for my mom. The community feels friendly and welcoming. The staff is kind and caring, and the therapy sessions are great. Mom enjoys making new friends and loves the food—it’s a real blessing. Overall, we’re very happy with this community and would definitely recommend it.

"Returning Home"
We're taking Mom back home because she feels it's not the right fit. She misses her home and privacy. The staff here is wonderful, always on top of things. The pendant alarms are malfunctioning, prompting wellness checks day or night. Mom did get excellent physical therapy, and the food was great.

"Assisted Living Center Provides Nice Environment, Needs Better Communication"
My mother-in-law is getting used to her new home. It's a really nice place, and the people there are friendly. Today, she did a craft activity and helped another resident. The food is delicious and looks great. If she doesn't want the main meal, she can have a sandwich. I've asked for better communication about when she showers and sees the psychiatrist. They said they'll work on it.

"Nice Visit, Lacked Needed Care for Mom"
I had a nice visit at this assisted living place. Everything seemed neat and tidy. The people working there were really nice and smiled a lot. But when it came to what my mom needs, they just couldn’t offer enough help. So, even though the visit went well, it’s not the right home for my mom.

"Great Choice for Stepdad"
The owner who gave us our tour of Brookdale Monroe was engaging, patient, and knew how to talk so our very hard-of-hearing stepdad could hear her. We found Brookdale to be inviting, with nice communal spaces and different types of living units. The nurses and dining room staff were professional and showed respect and care for the residents, which is what we hoped to see. Our stepdad picked Brookdale on his own over another place we looked at. He has been there for a month and is getting the physical rehab he was looking forward to. We are really relieved that our stepdad is in a place where he can get help anytime if needed. He has a great appetite and enjoys the food. Our experience with Brookdale so far has been very positive and the cost is similar to other places in the area.

"Outdated Communication and Minor Concerns in Assisted Living"
My wife just moved into this place, and it's a bit early for me to give a full review. But so far, there are only small things bothering me. The main thing is that my wife seems happy, so the little issues don't affect her happiness. I'll talk more about how they take care of her later, but I do have one small worry already. Maybe it'll get better over time. The phone system here is really bad, like it's stuck in the 80s. They have an operator who's too nosy and tries to control all the calls. Plus, they don't have good voicemail service. It makes me wonder what else here isn't up to date.

"Facility Neglects Care, Clings to False Promises and Cleanliness"
This review is based on our experiences with the memory care unit. The place is not kept clean, to the point where I'm considering bringing in my own cleaner. Even though they claim everything's disinfected, it really doesn't look like it. The staff members seem overworked and undertrained. The staff seem to try hard, but they need more training. They only have one nurse on staff and people are leaving. Sometimes, residents aren't changed the entire day. The management is really not good at all, they don't respond or address any concerns or complaints. They also change things without notice. We signed a contract with a particular care cost, and then it suddenly increased by $400. It's really hard to communicate with them about changes or billing as well. I try to leave them messages, but the system's always dysfunctional. The food isn't really appetizing, deserving of a 2-star rating at best. They say all the right things when you first arrive, but the reality becomes apparent after a month. We've lived here for a year now, and while I wouldn't say residents are being mistreated or abused, they definitely aren't getting the care they need. It feels like they just don't care, as if we're in a snake pit.

"Poor cleanliness and care led to departing facility"
I moved my family member out from this facility after a day when she had an accident with her clothes at some point, and they didn't clean her or her room when I visited in the evening. The staff said they had checked on her, but they couldn't explain why her and her room weren't clean. I told them I would take her somewhere else as quickly as I could find a better place.

"Mixed Experience, Some Room for Improvement"
I went with Tiffany to check out this place. We talked nicely and saw around. The vibe felt a bit strange, and the lights were kinda yellow. The rooms needed fixing up, like the lights and paint were not so good. They need to attach things properly too. Also, in the memory unit, they just put people in front of the TV. Right now, they don't have any memory beds available.

"Convenient Assisted Living with Friendly Staff"
This place is really nice. The people who work there are super friendly and helpful, and it's really close to my house. It's just off the NJ turnpike, but that means you can hear the traffic sometimes, which might bother people who are sensitive to noise.
