"Not Ideal for Alzheimer's Patients"
Basically, this assisted living facility isn't really suitable for Alzheimer's or dementia patients. They have these fancy bracelets, but my dad managed to walk out three times by going through another resident's room via the enclosed patio. He fell and had to be taken to the hospital. Overall care was decent, but they basically asked me to move Dad elsewhere because they couldn't guarantee his safety. If someone is in a wheelchair, it might be okay, but if they can walk and roam, this place may not be the best for your loved ones. There are areas where they can get outside the facility and potentially get hurt or lost.

"Great food, activities, and a well-kept community with friendly staff"
Our loved ones are thrilled to be here and always praise the food. They enjoy dishes like lobster bisque, prime rib, and cheesecake. Our aunt never misses bingo and loves the beauty salon. Our uncle plays poker with other men in the community. Their apartment is nice, the place is well-maintained, and they really like all the staff.

"Clean, spacious, friendly community with great staff"
The community is very clean and has just one level, which is great. Our loved one's bedroom is really big, bigger than any we've seen. The staff is very friendly.

"Regrettable experience at Cardinal Village assisted living facility"
My mom had been living at Cardinal retirement home for nearly three years, starting in January 2018. Initially, she stayed in Independent Living where things were fine. However, her health started to decline due to a few falls and dementia. Following this, the director of nursing suggested she should move to Assisted Living. We were assured that she could stay there until the end, unless she ever needed to be lifted or if she didn't have a DNR. Despite being 100 pounds and having a DNR, my mother was still forced to leave. She got sick with MRSA and was treated at Kennedy Hospital, which is presently called Jefferson. Despite the hospital's advice that she could return to Cardinal, the retirement home denied her re-entry claiming it was to protect the other residents. The hospital's doctors disagreed, arguing that she posed no risk of spreading the infection. Despite this, Cardinal remained firm in their refusal, and my mother had to be admitted to Kennedy Rehab. Cardinal made the process more difficult than it had to be, insisting that my mom needed more care than they wanted to offer. We were unaware of why they had gone back on their word about letting her stay until the end. We suspect this change was due to her now being on Medicaid and not providing them with as much income as before. Although we didn't have many complaints about the nursing staff, we did notice that her morning medicines were often found on the floor, indicating they gave them to her and left immediately afterwards. The nurses were more cautious about administering her evening meds. The cleanliness of my mother's bathroom and kitchen was another issue, as I found myself cleaning both areas about twice a week due to their noticeably dirty state. Raising the issue with the nurses and housekeeping staff resulted in no change. My mother now resides in Kennedy Nursing home and we've moved on from our experience with Cardinal. However, I wouldn't recommend Cardinal Village to anyone and feel that we were repeatedly misguided.

"Facility Not Convenient for Mom with Walker"
I didn't really like this place. It seemed old and was too dim inside. I just had a bad feeling about it. We came for breakfast, but they only had buffet-style service. My mom uses a walker, so that wouldn't work for her. This place definitely isn't the right fit for my mom.

"Community Too Big, Not Mom's Style, but Kind Staff"
We toured this place for Mom, but it felt too big. Lots of people and dark paintings, not her style. Everyone was nice, but it wasn't right for her.

"Cardinal Village truly cares for my dad's happiness"
My 88-year-old father moved into Cardinal Village a year ago, and he really enjoys it there. He has made many friends, and the independent living apartments are nicely designed with outdoor porches where he loves to listen to audiobooks. What makes Cardinal Village special is the staff. They often tell me that they love my dad, and I can see they really mean it. His well-being and happiness are their top priorities. They understand how hard it can be to care for an aging parent, and they've made this whole process so much easier for my family. We are all very happy with Cardinal Village!

"Okay Facility, Nice Staff, Few Residents Met, High Cost"
This place is okay. is really nice and gave us lots of goodies for us and especially for our mom. We didn't get to meet a lot of the people living there so we aren't sure if they're happy there. The rooms that have a lanai involve stepping down a bit, which isn't the best for our mom. The price is more here than other places, but the discount for the first year is pretty appealing.

"Loving Care"
My mom stayed at Cardinal Village Assisted Living for nearly 4 years. She wasn’t always easy to deal with, but the staff treated her kindly and respectfully. Recently, she passed away due to dementia, and the care she received was wonderful. As a family, we had peace of mind knowing she was safe while I was at work. Although Mom didn’t participate in many activities, there were plenty of things to engage the residents daily. The care she received was exceptional.

"A Caring Place with Great Staff and Food"
My uncle has been living in assisted living here for two years now. The staff is amazing, especially the nursing team, and he is very well cared for and thriving. The food is also good and has a lot of variety, which can be hard to find. Our family is really thankful to the staff for their commitment to providing excellent care, compassion, and respect for all the residents.

"Stress relief and care at Cardinal Village"
My mother stayed at Cardinal Village for a while, and I have to say that before she moved in, I was really stressed out. But once she settled into her nice apartment with a lovely little screened-in porch, the staff took amazing care of her. This really helped ease my worries. Even though my mother has since passed, I still visit Cardinal for work events since I'm in the health industry. I've gotten to know she, the Marketing Director, and she is a wonderful person who helps families a lot. The rest of the staff is great too. I highly recommend Cardinal Village!

"Mom is happy and well cared for at Cardinal Village!"
When my sister and I needed to find a place for our mom, we looked for a clean facility with good staff, a homey feel, and plenty of activities. We really hit the jackpot with Cardinal Village! We were worried because Mom has dementia and didn’t want her to be left alone in her apartment all day. At Cardinal, the staff makes sure Mom joins in on activities and shows her kindness with her illness. The food is great, and Mom looks and feels better now than when she lived by herself. We can’t express how much it means to us to know Mom is well cared for and thinks of Cardinal Village as her home. She has made friends, and the staff treats her like family. We give Cardinal a 5-star rating. We feel good knowing Mom is in such a wonderful place.

"Cardinal Village was the perfect choice for Mom!!"
My sister and I had to make the really hard choice to place our mom in assisted living. When we started looking, we thought Cardinal Village was just another option. We were so wrong! From the first time we talked to the staff to the tour and finally moving mom in, we felt a huge sense of relief. It feels like home for mom, and it’s not about being the "fanciest" place—it’s the warmth and care she gets. The facility is clean, the staff is caring, the meals are good, and there are plenty of fun activities that mom actually enjoys! The staff has also been a huge support to our family during this tough transition. It’s been a year, and we’re completely happy with our choice! We recommend Cardinal Village to friends in the same situation. Thanks, Cardinal Village!

"Dissatisfied with Unwelcoming and Unkept Assisted Living Facility"
When we compared this place to others we had seen, we didn't like it at all. It looked dull and didn't seem to be clean. We could also smell something unpleasant. The place felt like a hospital, not the comforting home-like setting we want for Mom. I think it may be connected to a nursing home, which might explain the problems we noticed.

"Affordable and Friendly Assisted Living with Lots of Activities"
Compared to other places I checked out, it's way cheaper, like half the price. It's pretty nice, and the people are really friendly. He only needs his meds, and that's been smooth. There are lots of activities, like going out almost every day, poker, movie nights, even trips to the casino and Philly night. The first week was a bit tough, but he's settled in now.
