"Disappointing Care and Service at Assisted Living Facility"
My family and I are really let down by the services my mom is getting at this place. It feels like we were tricked. We don't have anything to compare this place to, so even though we're unhappy, there might be worse places out there. There's a big problem with staff leaving all the time. New staff members need training on basic tasks like making a bed or helping someone shower. Bedsheets aren't changed regularly, so we've had to do it ourselves even though my mom is paying for that service. A lot of the new staff members don't speak English, so they can't talk to the residents. Equipment keeps breaking down, like the heating. The dining room gets really cold, so the food is cold by the time it gets to the table. The elevator is also breaking a lot. Residents get stuck on the first floor or have to wait for help, which is hard to find because there aren't enough staff. The elevator has been breaking down twice a week for the last three weeks. There's a temple on site and a rabbi visits every Sabbath for the Jewish residents. Christian residents get a virtual service, but sometimes they can't watch it because the equipment breaks down. When a resident calls for help, it takes a long time for someone to come. My mom once waited 2 hours for help. I don't think the care here is good. The podiatrist who comes when called is rude and doesn't clean up after himself. Some other medical staff are also rude to residents, but a few are nice and caring. In the last 14 months, 14 key staff members have left. New staff members need training. The food has gotten a little better, but it's mostly kosher for the Jewish residents. We just found out that the chef who made the food better is leaving. The rent went up by $300 per resident, but there are fewer staff. The services aren't balanced and the price increase didn't add any value.

"Concern about emergency response in otherwise liked facility"
Mom likes the facility. My main worry is if my mom is in her room and has an emergency and can’t get to the phone. The call button is not for emergencies, and I think there should be something in her room for emergencies. Sometimes, response time with the call button is slow, but not always. Some aides have limited communication skills. Overall, we liked the facility, and the location was important for our family.

"Staff Caring and Loving, Facility Updated and Welcoming"
The people who work here are really nice and loving. They make sure everyone feels at home. They take good care of my loved one, just like they said they would. The building is very nice and recently got updated, so it looks modern and new.

"Dishonest, money-focused facility with terrible food and care."
They don't seem to care, and they're not honest. It's all about the money here. The food is really bad, and the care they provide is worse than terrible. This isn't where you'd want to live out your final years.

"Positive Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
Our family member stayed for three weeks and we were happy. The place is nice and they did a lot to keep them active, even taking them outside when the weather was good. They had concerts and other fun things. The person in charge was quick to help with any problems we had. The only issue we had was reaching the night staff for questions or information, which was frustrating. But when we told the person in charge, she fixed it right away. We also liked the doctor; he always called us about our family member's health.

"Negligent Care, Poor Communication Marred Assisted Living Experience"
My grandmother lived at this facility for over three years. During her stay, we observed a troubling decrease in both activities and meal quality. The facility constantly struggled with inadequate staffing, an issue that only intensified during the pandemic. Instead of increasing their care during these troubling times, it seemed like the residents, isolated and despondent, were receiving even less assistance. Just within merely 3 months, my grandmother lost more than 40 pounds - a fact we learned only when she was hospitalized. Numerous attempts to receive updates on her health were met with silence. There were at least two instances of her falling that we were made aware of, and we were reassured that she was free from injury. However, upon her last hospitalization, we discovered fresh scars and bruises indicating otherwise. After her final fall, the staff failed to notify us of her condition for three days. My grandmother passed away a few days following this incident. The retrieval of her belongings took over three weeks, and upon receipt, we noticed the disappearance of numerous valuable items. Our outreach to the facility's administration was met with disinterest and indifference.

"New Management reduces Services, ignores Concerns"
Pros: The nursing staff here is awesome. They genuinely care for residents and do an excellent job. Cons: Since new management, services have taken a nosedive. Staff is overworked, the food quality dropped, and the once lovely Bubbe's cafe hardly has any basic items like milk, cookies, and yogurt. Considering what we're paying, these things should be available. Downright Bad: 1) If a resident needs help and tries to call you, there's no point trying to reach the facility since all you can do is leave a message. 2) Without clear communication, the Kosher standards are being altered. A poorly written notification was all that was given. Many people shared their dissatisfaction with us but the management contradicted this and denied knowing about other complaints. Plus, they seemed clueless about specifics. Their dishonest approach mirrors their overall managerial style. Despite the downgrade in services, there's no reduction in charges.

"Subpar Management, Good Staff and Food at Assisted Living Facility"
My parent has been at this facility for a couple years now. I won't deny, the young man who stepped in as executive director hasn't proven good for the community. Sure, he's nice, but he's really not cut out to run the place. I've seen a clear downward trend, but is it his fault or the fault of the higher-ups? They can read, they can observe, so why haven't they taken action to remove him or give him the proper training? However, the nursing staff is caring. I haven't had any issues with them at all. Mocking someone's voice isn't appropriate- let's focus on the matter at hand: the community needs a new director. On a brighter note, the food is tasty and the activities staff is top-notch.

"Possible deceit and fear dominates this assisted living facility"
I couldn't believe it when the head guy actually asked the workers to write good reviews and pretend to be family members. I was shocked! Then, I found out he was trying to find out which family from the home left a bad comment in one of his meetings that he's always holed up inside his office for. This is why the residents and their families are scared to speak up; they're afraid he'll get back at them with some harsh words or actions. I just gotta wonder, can't the new owners see what a bad job he's doing?

"Unprofessional Executive Director Ruining Assisted Living Facility"
I can't help but question the legitimacy of these glowing reviews. They must either be fabricated, or perhaps written by new residents who have not fully encountered the gross incompetence and dismal administration. It's honestly disappointing to see how quickly this establishment has declined, causing countless families to take their loved ones elsewhere and leading to the departure of many decent staff. But why is this? The answer lies with the Executive Director and head nurse, whose voice grates on the nerves as much as her untruths do. The Executive Director seems to lack any concern for the residents. Instead, his behavior is characterized by dishonesty, gossip, and sheer unprofessionalism. What's more, we're all quite fed up hearing about your impending nuptials. How about focusing on your residents? Cut the chitchat, stop hiding in your office and cease the lies. The damage you're causing to a previously wonderful facility is immeasurable.

"Brookside Assisted Living Facility: A Disappointing Visit"
My family and I went on a visit to our friend at an assisted living facility, Brookside, over the weekend. The visit was eye-opening and disappointing. We noticed there were only four members of staff to assist the caregivers. The nurses were making negative comments, saying the building was in decline. They even did this in front of some of the staff, which seemed very unprofessional. It's been said that there's a new management team, but they've been terrible. With all this happening, my friend's family is actively seeking a new facility. Brookside really ought to consider changing its name or employ a capable management company if it wants to truly turn things around.

""Disappointing Changes at Brookside Assisted Living""
I can't fathom why the owners would employ this director. My mother has been at Brookside for several years. Currently, it's pretty awful. The place is messy, the staff are unhappy, and the director is either unavailable or flat out lies to your face.

"Brookside: A Facade Of Care With Bitter Disappointment Below"
My mom stayed at Brookside for 40 days. On her last day there, a repeat conversation with an assistant stressed her heart condition. She never got over that talk. When we wanted to move her out, the new boss tried to keep money that wasn't rightfully theirs. However, we got our prepaid fees back after a lot of struggle. It seemed like a revolving door of corporate folks getting fired. I had to talk to a lot of them to get it sorted out. The meals there are gross. Almost everyone complains about it. Some of the food is even hard to swallow because it can't be chopped up properly. I brought one of these meals to the main office and asked them to try it. Naturally, they didn't want to. They said things would get better, but my mom's stay didn't see any improvement. On the outside, Brookside looks great. Dig a little deeper, though, and the real Brookside shows up. It could be so good, but it's just not.

"Concern over Gossipy Director and Need for Improved Housekeeping"
The care staff who assist my mom are excellent, but the housekeeping could improve. The fact that the food is Kosher is a big bonus. However, the management doesn't seem to have the compassion and consideration I believe is needed in a place like this. The new Director, in particular, is far too involved in gossip and talks about others, which worries me about what he could be saying about my mom and me. It's quite expensive here, but then again, costs are high everywhere. The activities they offer are really nice.

"Director's Behavior Disheartening and Unsettling"
It's really disappointing to say that the change in director wasn't as promising as we had hoped for the community. Many of us aren't very happy. Why, you might ask? Well, this new director doesn't seem to be honest. He hardly makes eye contact and when there's a problem, he just laughs and smiles. It's far from comforting. Some of us are afraid to speak up because we're worried about our loved ones being affected. But trust me, this can be worked out if he's aware of it.

"New Director Makes Assisted Living Facility Even Worse"
This place keeps getting worse and worse! The last Director made sure the facility looked nice, but didn't seem to care about anything else. Now, the new Director is completely immature and seems really self-centered. He's not even available for the families and residents to talk to, and he can be quite sarcastic at times.

"Need Urgent Change: Brookside's Top Management Must Step Down!!"
WARNING!!! My Mom stayed at the Brookside for over 5 years. Unfortunately, she had Dementia that worsened as time passed. A few years ago, Kaplan Organization purchased the place. From there, it went from bad to worse. They hired a new director named who seemed to care more about the look of the place than the well-being of its residents. Staff changes were rampant, with new, unqualified caregivers showing up constantly. The employees kept changing every week. My Mom, at one point, started getting Medicaid, and that’s when her treatment turned truly awful. She ended up with sores everywhere, constantly dehydrated, and malnourished. I had to admit her to a hospital and look for another facility for her. Not long after I raised these issues and complaints, they fired several supervisors. Sadly, the blame fell on the wrong people. I strongly believe the root of the problem is with the director, . It's a shame that she skilfully shifts the blame on others to keep her job. must be held responsible for the bad care and conditions that are dragging the Brookside’s quality downwards. Many residents and employees are too scared to speak up for fear of punishment from upper management. needs to be let go before it’s too late. Stay away from this place!!!

"Abominable Place: Unqualified Staff, Bugs, and Safety Concerns Abound."
Terrible Facility! The staff is awful and even the administration stinks! They're infested with pesky bed bugs and other creepy-crawlies! Shockingly, I found cockroaches crawling in the corridors where my mom was situated. Additionally, a few of their aides are incapable of communicating in English and they lack proper certification! I'll be alerting the state authorities either today or tomorrow. They should not be allowing unlicensed CNA or CHHAs to look after the residents! They're totally untrained! Every resident I cross paths with has bruises or wounds! My mom, too!

"Brookside rapidly went downhill and neglects resident needs."
The pictures on your website are old. Dana Grossman hasn't been a part of Brookside for more than a year now. I'm really let down by this place. It's clear it's gone bad pretty fast. There aren't enough staff members and a lot of the assistants don't seem to care much about what the residents need.

"Think Twice Before Choosing the Brookside"
We're seriously disappointed with The Brookside. Sure, it's eye-catching. Yeah, they're super friendly when you're signing up. But they don't just give you wrong info; they blatantly lie. The staff barely talks to each other. They don't even bother to tell family about important health things that happen. That's really all I feel like saying for now. Just think twice before handing over your loved ones to this place.

My family member is looked after well here. Some staff are really good, while others could improve. It's set up well for general assistance, though each person's experience varies. We pay around $6,500 monthly. Our loved one seems to be doing well and has even gained weight. They offer salon visits once a week.
