The Chelsea at Montville

"Good for those needing special care"
I visited this place and the lady helping us was nice. She gave me lots of helpful information and suggestions. The people living here aren't very active. It wasn't the right fit for us. But, I would suggest it for those looking for care for loved ones who aren't very mobile or need special care like dementia. The place was clean and the staff was friendly.

"Unpleasant Visit to The Chelsea Assisted Living"
From what I saw during our visit, I think The Chelsea was pretty bad. As soon as we entered, there were many people in wheelchairs just parked around the front desk area. A bunch of them seemed really out of it, just leaning over in their seats. It wasn’t a good look at all. Plus, there was this super strong smell of cleaner that smacked you right away. It made me wonder, if it’s that overpowering, what kind of odor are they covering up?

"Shared Room Setup Felt Too Intimate"
We got a warm welcome at The Chelsea at Montville, and the tour gave us lots of useful info. But we decided against it due to the shared room setup—it felt a bit too close.

"Poor Staffing and Care at Chelsea Assisted Living Facility"
The Chelsea is not a good place for your loved ones. They don't have enough staff and don't teach them to be kind and caring. Many of them struggle with English, which is challenging for the elderly. The aides and nurses have too much work and often become grouchy and impatient with the residents. One aide even shouted at my dad. The medical help isn't good. The facility is frequently dirty and not well maintained. Don't be tricked by their tour. The management doesn't care either.

"Consider Other Places for Loved Ones"
If someone asked me, I’d say they might want to check out other places besides this one. It seemed like they didn’t really pay much attention to my family member. We had to keep telling them over and over what my family member needed. The meals were pretty tasty for them, though. They had their own room, but it was kind of gloomy and worn out. Still, there was plenty of room in there.

"Friendly staff, activities, standard-sized rooms."
Before COVID, residents enjoyed weekly Walmart outings, painting classes, and bingo. Friendly staff, open and welcoming atmosphere, standard-sized rooms.

"Good Care at The Chelsea, But Not a Fan of New Boss"
I've got a soft spot for The Chelsea. My mother has lived there for 2 years. However, the new boss doesn't sit right with me. She seems distant and more focused on herself than interacting with residents or the staff. Despite this, I'm satisfied with the care and social aspects.

"Mixed feelings about The Chelsea assisted living facility tour"
We checked out this place when searching for help for a family member. It didn't wow me like other spots nearby. The people working there were nice, and the folks living there seemed taken care of.

"Good care and friendly staff; smooth adjustment for Mom."
They are doing a good job so far. When we first moved Mom in, they had a new director, but things have gone pretty smoothly. I had some concerns about the care at first, but she seems happy and has adjusted well. Whenever issues came up, they were handled well. The place is clean, and everyone is friendly and genuine.

"Beware: Chelsea Senior Living: Unreliable and Costly"
Chelsea seems focused solely on cash. Their assistance isn't always reliable. The nurses, including the DON, seem to have their plans. They're quick to assume, without asking for any details. They'll tack on a $25 fee for just about anything. Don't be fooled, things aren't as great as they appear. On the upside, it's neat, well-lit and the food is decent. It's advertised that laundry is done weekly. But in the past, my mom had to wait 3 weeks to have her laundry collected. We as a family always end up asking too many questions about why mom isn't receiving her needs.

"No fridge or microwave in rooms. Not my favorite."
The rooms didn't have a fridge or a microwave, and I didn't really like that.

"Bigger Than Expected, Lacked Desired Atmosphere"
We checked out this place, and it all seemed okay. No issues with how it looked or the people who worked there. It was a bit larger than what we had in mind for Mom, and it didn't have the cozy feel we were hoping for. We wished there were more staff compared to the number of residents.

"'Not My Cup of Tea: Unpleasant Staff and Room Layouts'"
I wasn't a fan of this place. How they arranged the rooms didn't sit right with me. No doors were on the bathrooms since wheelchairs couldn't fit through, which made me uncomfortable. I also felt the lady I talked to wasn't very pleasant, which put me off.

"Studio Apartment Lacked Kitchenette, Activities for Mom"
The studio apartment didn't have a kitchenette, but the one-bedroom did. The food seemed good, and the menu was nice. However, I was hoping for specific activities for my Mom, and unfortunately, they weren't a perfect fit here.
