"Mixed Experience: Great for Independent, Lacks Guidance for Needy"

They did good things and not-so-good things. My family member needed more help than she got here. If someone is healthy and can do things alone, it's great. But she needed more help than she asked for. The nurses were nice, but I didn't get enough help. When we moved in, we didn't get much advice; I always had to ask. The staff are nice and trying hard. I'd recommend it for healthier people.

"Lack of Covid Protocols Leads to Tragic Outcomes in AL"

The assisted living facility tried to save money by hiring part-time nurses, but it led to Covid spreading on the 3rd floor. There wasn't a plan to keep the virus out. Sadly, many people died, and my mom almost did too. In September 2021, one staff member who wasn't vaccinated got Covid. It's puzzling how this could happen, especially with new management. The place looks nice after renovations, but that's about it.

"Assisted Living Facility Fell Short During COVID-19"

I feel that when COVID came, my mother didn't get the care she needed. Yes, you kept her safe, but because of the lockdown and quarantine, she needed more help, and I didn't know because I couldn't see her. As a result, she went downhill and ended up in hospice. Once in hospice, we thought she would get more care, and she did too. That's why she chose to live there, thinking she would be cared for when this time came. Because we couldn't help care for her due to COVID, we had to hire outside people to get the required care. My family and my mother felt it was misrepresented.

"Poor Communication by Management, Yet Supportive Nurses and Aides"

I definitely wouldn't advise anyone to choose them. The problem I faced was a serious lack of communication about my family member's care. Talking to those in control was a real chore. But, the nurses and aides were great to chat with and really supportive.

"Facility Caught Thieves, Apologies Needed, Security Cameras Urged"

So, guess what? They finally caught the thief or thieves! It took them long enough, especially since they kept denying it was happening for a few years. Can you believe that? And all the while, the elderly folks who were getting robbed felt like total fools! They made them feel like they were just imagining things! How rude! I really hope they're going around to each and every one of those poor victims, saying sorry and doing whatever they can to get back what was stolen. It's about time they put some security cameras in those hallways, don't you think?

"Shores' Disgrace: High Costs, Poor Service, and Understaffing!"

My evaluation of The Shores has been confirmed after exploring others' reviews. It's a disgrace that they've been lacking staff members since January 2017! They demand a high price without delivering the promised services due to being understaffed - that's a disgrace! The gap between the hefty price you pay and the service they claim to provide could not be wider! The residents don't get the proper care they're paying for. The nurses and physical therapists are competent, however, one crucially understaffed and underqualified department is the aids. It's unacceptable for anyone to have to lie in their own filth because the aids can't attend to them in time due to staff shortage. What a disgrace! It's not fair for any aid to have to rush the elderly they're supposed to care for because The Shores lacks staff. More disgrace! It's a disgrace that The Shores hasn't resolved this problem from January 2017 to now!

"Think Twice: Dreadful Care, Unsatisfactory Staffing, Untimely Demise"

My dad fractured his leg on vacation, and needed rehab until I could take him home. I must tell you, this was the worst care experience I've ever seen. Despite not having any issues with bladder control, they forced him to wear briefs because they lacked staff and didn't want to deal with him. Before the accident, my dad was very able to care for himself, but due to their negligence, he physically declined. I had heard this place was great years ago, but I now suspect they might've contributed to his untimely demise. Though the physiotherapy staff was great, the rest of the care was awful. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone.

"Wesley Manor: High Costs, Low Quality Care. Avoid It."

We moved my parents into Wesley Manor about a year and a half ago. We hoped that living here would result in enhanced quality care for both of them. Despite the steep price, we decided to go for it, thanks to its close location to our home and its appealing outlook. We were promised top-notch care, prime cleanliness, appealing meals, and a firm commitment to the residents by the management. Unfortunately, none of these claims were accurate. The care provided is hardly adequate, the cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms are substandard, and the food is just average. The most disappointing and upsetting part is the caregiver-to-resident ratio. Initially, it seemed fine. However, after getting new roofs installed on the buildings, the facility cut back on staff to offset the expenditure. Caregivers are now multitasking by cooking and serving meals, cleaning the dining area, and performing other maintenance tasks, resulting in less time spent with the residents. The residents' monthly charges have skyrocketed by over 40% this past year due to an unclear formula they use to determine care levels, which totals more than $21,000 per month for my parents. If given another chance, we would surely avoid Wesley Manor.

"Dad’s happiest ever, loving new activities and caring staff!"

My 99-year-old dad is doing great! He’s happier than ever. He’s trying new things like Bingo for the first time and going to group exercise classes three times a week. He loves the staff, and they love him back. It’s the best thing his four kids could have done for him. He grew up during the Great Depression and now he's living a great life. This place is amazing!

"Concerning Care, Unwelcomed Entries and Disappearance of Items"

My Dad resided at this center, and I'll say it's fine as a home for independent seniors capable of driving and cooking on their own. However, problems have arisen with unwelcomed individuals entering the apartments when vacant and possessions disappearing. Consider contacting the Ocean City Police Department before settling on this place. If your loved one needs food services, the meals are barely on par and they do not effectively accommodate dietary requirements. If your loved one gets moved to the 3rd-floor nursing area, relocate them as soon as possible. The severely poor care my Dad received there - not getting a shave, a bath, not having clean clothes or sheets - is borderline elder neglect.
