"Not the Right Fit for Brightness and Airiness"
The staff we met were super friendly and helpful. But the place felt dark and older. It’s small, with narrow hallways. Unfortunately, not the right fit for us.

"Caring Staff Brightens Dining Experience"
I want to thank you for having in the assisted living dining room. The staff is super organized and always keeps track of dietary needs. She manages the dining room really well, and she does it all with a smile. We’re happy she’s there to care for our mom.

""Assisted Living Community Fails to Provide Quality, Compassionate Care""
My family member stayed here for two weeks. They didn't look after her properly and didn't even cover her when she felt cold; now she is no more. I think they should not have taken her in if they couldn't care for her appropriately. Despite paying for the top-tier care, she didn't receive it here. The support staff were far from friendly when they finally decided to assist her. It's really hard to find quality assistance these days. Personally, I would advise against choosing this community.

"Assisted Living Facility Needs Update but Has Active Atmosphere"
The place needs some fixing up, especially outside. Inside and the rooms are okay for being over 30 years old. The people who work there and live there seem happy and busy. The food choices aren't that great.

"Dad enjoys friendly staff and fun activities here"
The staff here is really friendly and connects well with my dad. He responds to them and enjoys the good meals, having three every day. He also takes part in activities like movies, field trips, and even dance parties. The place is clean, with his room getting tidied up once a week. The courtyard is beautiful. I definitely recommend this community.

"Happy Resident at Brookdale Santa Fe"
My 96-year-old mom moved from her condo in Texas to Brookdale Santa Fe in September 2014, and she's been very happy there. The staff is super attentive, helping her get dressed in the morning and ready for bed at night. They also assist her with makeup, hair, bathing, and bathroom needs since she's in a wheelchair. The Housekeeping Director makes sure her apartment is always clean and well-maintained. Our family, especially Mom, loves the meals and service, thanks to the dining services manager. One time, they even organized a fancy high tea with antique tea cups and special decorations for Mom and her friends. The Executive Director and Assisted Living Director have made many positive changes at Brookdale. Since the new Executive Director took over, the facility has really thrived. We visit several times a week and are very pleased with the level of care and service. We're glad we chose Brookdale Santa Fe for Mom.

"Gloomy Facility with Unimpressive Rooms and Odd Smell"
I went to see this facility when searching for a home for my mom, but it was pretty gloomy to us. The hallways reminded us of a hotel, and the rooms weren't impressive. And there was an odd smell present. The place was generally darker and not that clean. Given its less steep price, this made sense. It does feature a beautiful garden. Our guide for the visit was a really pleasant lady, who provided useful answers. They did give us a pie to take home, but it wasn't tasty at all.

"Assisted Living Facility Fails On All Levels"
The team running this assisted living facility, including the management, nurses, and aides, are sloppy and unprofessional. Often, the staff's English skills seem quite limited considering the high concentration of English-speaking residents. My Spanish-speaking mother-in-law does not seem to be the norm here which makes communication challenging. The nurses at this place display complete apathy towards the residents. It's upsetting to witness them neglect basic care, like keeping the residents clean and handling them compassionately during bathing. The chief nurse falls short on English proficiency, making effective communication a struggle. The office manager, whose name I won't disclose, crosses boundaries. I've caught her discussing personal information about my mother-in-law with other families, which I believe violates privacy laws. Other management staff at the establishment, including those overseeing the kitchen and leasing, are obviously phony. They act friendly initially but lose interest fast. The head cook is severely lazy, letting his subordinates do all the work while he prepares meals for other staff members. Moreover, the quality of the food is unsatisfactory. Their head chef fails to consistently make a decent burger. As for the leasing agent, her recognition is short-lived. She remembered us until the lease was signed, but has ignored us since then. There are some good folks working at this place who are friendly, helpful, and speak English fluently. However, the management and nursing staff overshadow any positives here. For the well-being of your loved ones, I strongly advise against using this facility. We're currently organizing my mother-in-law's relocation.

"Excellent Location, Well-Maintained Community in Santa Fe"
This place is really nice and it's in a great spot in Santa Fe. It's kind of old, but they take good care of it and it feels safe. I think it would be almost perfect for my Dad. We're still checking out some other places because we have to think about the cost too.

"Brookdale's many issues, subpar food, and mixed housing"
I'm not totally happy with my experience at this Brookdale place. My biggest issue is that people who can live on their own are mixed in with those who need lots of help. This means that independent people end up dealing with poop in the hallways and constant noises from the more dependent residents. The food isn't that great, either. Even though the building layout is pretty good, I see too many issues to want to move my family member here.

"Mixed feelings: Great staff and ambiance, but food and smoke issue"
My mom likes her housekeeper. She's super helpful! The place has a lovely courtyard with nice views. But the food could be better. It's too salty and lacks flavor. And sometimes they go overboard with tomato sauce. Also, there's this lady downstairs who smokes. It's gross and stinks up the place.

"Top-Notch Assisted Living Experience"
I think this place in Santa Fe is awesome. The people who work here are really nice and they always help you right away. The building is clean and really nice. I ate here and so did my dad, and we both liked the food. My dad did a couple of activities, but we hope he can do more. I would tell people to check out this place.

"Best Choice in Santa Fe"
All the senior living places cost a lot, but Brookdale Santa Fe stood out as the best choice. Even though some others were newer (though poorly laid out) and some older (not as well maintained), Brookdale’s pleasant location near parks, shopping, restaurants, and an indoor swimming pool made it a winner.

"Convenient Location and Pleasant Amenities at Brookdale Santa Fe"
I really liked this place because it's in a great location near downtown, right across from a nice pool, and just a short walk from where my daughter works. The apartments are nice, and the food service is excellent. My only complaint is that it ends a bit early for someone like me who stays up late.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Options and Appeal"
I didn't choose this assisted living because they had no independent living available when I visited. The place didn't appeal to me, and it was too expensive.

"Happy and helpful staff, with a minor odor issue."
At Brookdale Santa Fe, the hallways need improvement. They smell like pee. But, they do try to keep everything clean. Everything else is awesome. The staff is fantastic overall. They're really nice and helpful.

When we stepped inside, the first thing we noticed was how cheerful everyone seemed. The staff, residents, and even the maintenance crew made an effort to talk to us. So far, we’re really pleased.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
The staff is nice, but they should improve paperwork handling. Behind-the-scenes work needs attention. They misplaced documents and got confused about my Mom's meds. The location is convenient for me. My Mom is mostly happy. She likes the people but wishes for more activities. The routine includes bingo and art once a week, with only two outings so far. Compared to others I visited, this facility seemed the best choice for my Mom.

"Friendly, Clean Assisted Living with Lots of Activities"
The place is nice and super clean. The staff is friendly. They have lots of activities, but they don't check if residents want to join. It'd be better if they did. No food complaints. I picked this place because I liked the staff, the facilities, and felt comfy.

"Great community with good food and a nice courtyard"
The community is really nice. The only thing to note is that you need to clearly understand the cost because it changes often. The food is good, and there are no issues with the laundry. However, parking is very crowded. They have a lovely setting and courtyard, and they work hard to make sure people don’t feel like they’re in a facility.

"Attentive staff and great amenities; landscaping could improve."
The staff at this assisted living facility is very helpful and kind. They really make an effort to connect with the residents, which makes my mom happy. Considering all the amenities and services they offer, the prices are reasonable. The landscaping could be better, though. Even though my mother lives independently, whenever she needs something, they respond very quickly. They organize activities and luncheons every week, and there's even a Happy Hour on Fridays.

"Ponce de Leon: A Pleasant Assisted Living Facility"
Ponce de Leon is a decent facility. The staff is friendly, and there are plenty of activities to enjoy. The people are mostly pleasant, and the apartments are spacious and nice. However, it can get noisy, especially in the halls. The meals are okay but not very exciting. Overall, a pleasant place.

"Lacks Sufficient One-on-One Care"
My mom stayed at Ponce de Leon for almost three months. The place is super friendly and welcoming. However, she needed more personal attention than they could provide. It's a large facility, so I wouldn't suggest it for someone needing a lot of care.

"Positive Initial Experience; Awaiting Longer Stay for Full Assessment"
My dad's been here a few weeks, so I'm waiting to give a full review until he's been here longer. But everyone we've dealt with, from the maintenance crew to the finance and marketing teams, has been really nice. Once he gets to know the other residents, I think both he and I will really like it here.

"Expensive but convenient assisted living with helpful staff."
Two years ago, we began our search for assisted living. Recently, Ponce de Leon offered a special deal on a few rooms, aligning perfectly with our needs. Our A Place For Mom contact guided us through the lengthy process, which was immensely helpful. It's challenging to assess Ponce de Leon's value as it comes with a hefty price tag, though understanding the operational costs is unclear. We haven't participated in any activities yet, so rating them wouldn't be fair.
