"Lack of Outdoor Space and Services at Brookdale Assisted Living"
I went with Brookdale because it was close by and seemed okay for a short stay. There's no outside area for residents. They don't bring in a barber for haircuts, even if you're willing to pay. I can't say much about the activities since I'm not local. The staff I talked to were nice and helpful. But I was disappointed when my cousin left after just two days, and when I called to tell them, they didn't even know he was gone. So, based on what happened, I wouldn't recommend Brookdale.

We checked out Brookdale Tramway Ridge while looking for a place for our family member. We liked the staff and the building the best. But, the rooms were really dark and sad, which bothered us.

"Brookdale: Unclear Death, Overcharging, and Lack of Care"
My dad passed away in just a month after joining Brookdale. They didn't clearly tell us what happened to him. They sent a huge bill that was beyond what they originally said, and they charged us for the time after he passed away too. The place was seriously short of staff. We never saw them do anything fun with the folks living there. They just sat people in wheelchairs in the main room and left them there. All in all, it was a really bad experience.

The Brookdale place feels welcoming, and the rooms are nice. The regular staff is super friendly and knows the residents well. They’re really nice and professional. When we visit, they greet us and are open to talking about any issues. They try their best to address concerns. The activities for dementia care are a bit limited, but they’re working on hiring more people. They still have things going on, like field trips. The food is okay, and everyone eats together during meals (unless a resident can’t come out, then they bring the food to their room). Overall, I’d recommend them.

"Third-Floor Memory Care Not Ideal"
I visited this place, and it was good. The grounds were clean, with two large common areas and a fireplace. However, the memory care unit being on the third floor wasn’t ideal for my loved one.
