"Affordable with good security but in a rough area"
The place is budget-friendly. However, it’s in a rough area. The security is strong, and the food is pretty good.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Security and Communication"
This place was nice. The rooms were comfy, but not right for my husband with dementia. Even though they said it was secure, he wandered off. The staff helped move him to another place, but there were billing problems. It's been four months and they're still not fixed. Also, some of my husband's things disappeared during the move, and we haven't gotten them back.

"Well-Kept Assisted Living with Friendly Staff and Independent Living Excellence"
The community is affordable, clean, safe, and cozy. The staff is kind and helpful, but because it's a larger facility, there aren't as many staff members per resident in assisted living. For those needing more care, a smaller community might be better. The independent living section is excellent. They also offer a fully furnished respite care apartment, which was very useful for short stays.

"Spacious and Affordable, But Too Large"
We visited Brookdale and liked it a lot. It cost less than other places we looked at and is really big. We knew our loved one wouldn't feel comfortable in such a large place.

"Nice Place with Concerns"
I went to Brookdale when I was searching for a new home for my family member. The place seemed nice, especially the memory care unit. But I wondered if it might be too big for my loved one, so we explored other options.

"Big facility, clean but understaffed, with limited amenities"
I visited here while looking for a place for my friend. It's a large place, so it's easy to feel lost. There are around 180 rooms. The room I saw was bigger than others I had seen, but the stove didn't work. I didn't think my friend would be happy here. The place seemed pretty clean, though. I'm not sure how many staff they have, but with 180 rooms, they might be spread thin. I spoke with a staff member, but I can't remember her name. She was very nice. They had a few good activity options. I found another place my friend liked more, but this would have been my second choice. It was just a little too far.

"Avoid This Glum and Grubby Assisted Living Facility"
The atmosphere at this facility was quite upsetting and grimy. Despite visiting to ascertain if it was suitable for my father—I knew his acquaintance resided there—my impressions were poor. You're greeted by a large, gloomy space that could use a refurbishment, with the absence of any welcoming personnel upfront. The floors showed evidence of wear and tear with visible stains, and the administrative section was not well-kept. Papers strewn about, crammed bookcases—it was just too messy. I strongly believe that a visitor's initial interaction, typically with the reception area, should be pleasant and appealing. But this was lacking here. In the communal space, it was just the residents loitering around. The courtyard wasn't tended for, overrun with rocks and weeds, while the dining spot left an overwhelming urge to sanitize it. The gentleman who guided me was polite, but it’s not a place I'd advise anyone to consider for their loved ones.

"Out of this world sugar-free pecan ice cream!"
My mom picked this place because of the price. Compared to other options, it’s $500-600 cheaper. The staff is friendly and quick in the dining room. The living services director is also outgoing. They even let my mom have her dogs and take them for walks. Staff communication is good if you express your needs. However, parking and front desk speed are still issues. There’s one person at the front desk who seems indifferent. It took 3 days to get my mom a key, and she accidentally lost it later. The facility is clean, with trash chutes and her own washer and dryer. The food is decent, and they serve amazing sugar-free pecan ice cream! Lots of activities are available, and I’d recommend this place to others.

"Comfortable and Caring Community"
I picked this place because A Place for Mom recommended it. The staff here is super friendly and caring. The food tastes good, but they serve the same things often. I've enjoyed playing bingo but now I'm hoping for more activities as I get used to living here. The grounds are kept really nice. The maintenance team has been a big help with hanging up mirrors and a few paintings for me.

"Clean, Helpful, and Recommended Assisted Living Community"
We went on a tour of this place, and it was really nice. The people who work there were friendly and ready to help. They also had stuff for the people who live there to do. We think families should come and see for themselves how clean it is and talk to the nice staff.

"Assisted Living Tour Reveals Friendly Staff and Cozy Atmosphere"
During the tour and follow-ups, everyone was nice and welcoming. The place seemed big with lots of residents. The hallways were narrow, and the ceilings were lower, and the apartments looked older. It was smaller than what my mom had in mind. It felt safe, but she wanted something more modern. They did try hard and followed up with us after the tour. However, my mom felt it was too much like the last stop, so it didn't fit well for her.

"Variety needed in meals, but welcoming atmosphere and clean rooms!"
The people living here have been super nice to my family member ever since he moved in, and he's really enjoying spending time with them. The folks who clean the rooms are doing a really good job keeping my dad's room tidy and nice all week. The only thing my dad wishes is that they'd serve more kinds of food. They give us a lot of chicken, but not much else.

"Poorly Managed, Wouldn't Recommend This Assisted Living Facility"
My mom spent a brief period at this place before I decided to move her. I got upset with the staff when she had a fall and was left unattended through the night. The meal quality was average. Although the place looked tidy during the one weekend I visited, they mislaid my mom's clothes, a situation that made them appear disorganized. Also, their methods of trying to include her in different activities were unimpressive.

""Lack of Attention and Courtesy at Assisted Living""
My time at this facility has been average at best. My mom suffered a few falls and their response wasn't really caring. Their manners are lacking. True, there are decent folks here. The surroundings do seem fairly tidy. I wasn't thrilled with the quality of care my mom received though. Currently, she's in rehab and will be coming home with me to recover.

"Overall, a Nice Place"
Most things here are pretty good. The staff is friendly, except maybe in the dining room. The food from there isn't great—it's small portions and slow service. But the front desk staff and maintenance workers, are helpful and awesome.

"Good place for retirement living"
The meals and service at meal times are excellent. Cleanliness is good throughout. The information given when signing up needs updating. Some promises, like linen laundering and weekly cleaning, aren't kept (cleaning is every two weeks, and linens aren't done at all). But phone service is free, which wasn't mentioned. My parents seem very happy after a week in the apartment, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a retirement community.

"Caution: Suspected Theft at Assisted Living Home"
My parents, who have dementia, moved to this assisted living facility three years ago. At first, they were doing well there, but things changed as their health declined. It was difficult looking after them from afar, mainly because the communication was not that great. Furthermore, they lost all their high-valued jewelry while they lived there. We were told not to keep expensive items there, but my mom simply couldn't part with her own. They also had some cash for small things and we noticed $200 missing every week during their last year. In fact, $300 disappeared when my mother was bedbound toward the end. After my mom passed, I was moving my dad elsewhere when another resident, who seemed quite trustworthy, complained about her belongings and jewelry being scattered on her bed, suggesting someone used a master key to enter her room. So, I must warn you! Also, the facility is in a sketchy neighborhood, posing another security risk. If the seniors living on the ground floor don't secure their exterior doors (which isn't surprising given their condition), it allows burglars easy access to their homes. Beware!

"Brookdale Place Fails to Cater to Residents' Needs Accurately"
Our experience with Brookdale Place was truly disappointing. To start, they assessed my dad as more independent than he really was, based on his actual physical state. Just after three days, Hospice decided he needed 24/7 care. Brookdale tried to convince us to stay on and increase the level of care to a pricier package. That's something my dad couldn't afford. We found a different facility that Hospice recommended, but Brookdale wouldn't agree to a clause in their own policies that wipes out the $2,000 fee if a resident's safety warrants more help. I certainly wouldn't suggest Brookdale to anyone, not even to my worst enemy!

"Not for Us"
Feels exactly like assisted living. My mom totally disliked it. She had a tiny one-bedroom apartment with a super small kitchen. The kitchen only had a half-sized refrigerator and a sink. There was just one little window, and it felt gloomy. However, the rest of the facility was brand new and beautiful. It was much cleaner and quite lovely. I can understand how it might be a good fit for someone with real dementia or Alzheimer’s.

" "Living Nightmare at Brookdale Assisted Living""
Brookdale Assisted Living stinks. They were awful with handling medicine - sometimes they didn't have it on time, or they didn't have the right one. They never told us when my loved one fell out of bed. Their food is yucky. Their staff don't know what they're doing, and one even told me we should move our loved one out. They only have 1 nurse for about 200 people and the caregivers didn't seem to care. It was like winning the lottery if you saw someone checking on your loved one. If you pulled the emergency cord, you'd have to wait like half an hour for help. When I tried calling to see how my loved one was doing, nobody ever picked up. Instead of solving problems, their nurse just defended the staff. The place is in a bad neighborhood and it's really sad there. I wouldn't tell anybody to put their loved ones there. I wish I could give them less than one star.

"Good Location, but Watch Out for Misleading Info"
My loved one stayed here but we had to move her because she needed more care. The place was in a good location and we liked being there. We did have to provide all the furniture and other stuff ourselves. They offer three meals a day in the dining area. Roberta, the main person in charge, gave us some incorrect information. At the time, it made me feel better, but later I had more problems because of it.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living Facility"
Toured with the Director. Saw a resident's 2 BR place. It was spacious and nice. Inside, renovations were happening. But outside, it looked tired. I felt concerned about the neighborhood. It's far from what's familiar to mom and dad. The Director gave me VA contact information.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Pleasant Space with Thoughtful Care"
The place is really nice and has a lot of good things about it. I wanted a studio instead of a one-bedroom apartment, but the price was still okay.
