"Assisted Living Comfort with Minor Activity and Food Suggestions"
I feel safe and secure here because the staff is always ready to help. When it comes to activities, some of us want to learn the games they play, but the groups seem unwilling to teach. Regarding food, they should consider low-salt and low-sugar options for older adults, but moderate seasonings, especially in ethnic dishes, should remain.

"Facility Fails Dementia Patients, Ignores Agreed Health Plan"
If your family member doesn't have dementia or related behavior problems, and isn't too noisy, it's a good place. But they can't manage seniors with dementia, even though their ads say they can. They waited until we were out of town to leave our parent at the ER, and then kicked him out, which was against the health plan we all agreed on. They didn't answer our many calls. We got the news from the hospital. The hospital is even filing a complaint with the NM Health Department about this 'Elder Dumping'. The hospital said they've done this before.

"New, Clean, Good Food, Courteous Staff, Recommended Assisted Living Facility"
I would recommend Palmilla Senior Living to other families. It's new and very clean, with good food, and the staff are courteous and caring. However, like everywhere nowadays, they do seem slightly understaffed, especially in the Assisted Living sector.

They claim to offer emergency care, but they don’t in independent living. We learned this the hard way after an accident. On a positive note, the food has been getting better this past week.

"Friendly staff, good food, and long waiting list"
I visited for the second time and had a nice lunch. During the tour, I met several friendly staff members. I also spoke with residents, and they all said positive things about their new home. The lunch was good with many choices, and the cherry pie was fantastic! I just wish the waiting list wasn't so long. Maybe the corporate office should think about expanding the facility in Albuquerque. I only got to see one apartment because the others were full. I’m on the waiting list, but I’m not sure when a spot will open up. It's tough to evaluate fully since I’m not a resident yet.

"Highly Recommend Palmilla for Caring and Supportive Senior Living"
Palmilla is amazing! Our aunt lived there for nearly 2 years before she passed away. She started in Assisted Living and then moved to Memory Care when she needed more help. The staff was incredibly caring and loving. Our aunt was really happy there. When she got sick and had to stay in the hospital for a few weeks, she went back to Palmilla for Hospice care. They were all fantastic, especially the head nurse. I highly recommend Palmilla!

"Unprepared and Overpriced: A Disappointing Tour"
My friend and I visited this place and it was terrible. The person in charge didn't pay any attention to us and we faced a lot of interruptions. The cost was much more than we could afford. They had nothing to tell us. Plus, they had no open rooms and were just not ready to give a decent tour. We ended up choosing a different place.

"I give them high marks for working with my grandmother"
I really liked how they took care of my grandma during her short stay. She's a late sleeper, so they adjusted the cleaning schedule for her room. They also brought her meals to her because she preferred eating in her room. Even though she didn't participate in activities, the staff offered to include her. My mom and I ate in the dining area once, and it was a great atmosphere. The friendly staff knows everyone by their first names. I definitely recommend them, and we're planning another respite stay.

"Mixed Experience but Overall Recommendable"
We visited many places with my Mom before choosing Palmilla. She felt comfortable here right away, so we moved from Silver City. The staff has been really nice and helpful to Mom and our family. Mom likes her routine here and enjoys the activities. She's making new friends and likes being here. The food has been hit or miss. Sometimes it's cold, and some dishes are too salty or have too much breading. We heard there will be a new chef soon. Overall, our experience with Palmilla has been mostly good. I would recommend it to others looking for this kind of place in the future.

"Poor care and high costs at Palmia's memory unit"
I'm really upset with how my grandpa's been cared for in the past year at Palmilla. They keep upping the cost for "extra" care in the memory unit. He's fallen two days in a row and ended up in the emergency room today. This is the sixth time he's been rushed to the ER since November. The staff is clueless and just blames each other for what's happening.

"Mom, Nurse , Missing Meds - Avoid Palmilla Facility"
My mom stays here and is extremely dissatisfied with some of the things she’s heard about caregivers chatting in the place's laundry and living areas. Mom is scared, scared that medications aren't being managed correctly and that belongings are being taken from rooms! She and her buddies even chatted about a conversation they overheard in the laundry room involving two workers doing something they shouldn’t be. The new top nurse is full of herself and as warm as a soaked washcloth. I met her once and that was enough to indicate that my mother needs to move somewhere else. If you're thinking about placing a loved one into Palmilla, think again!

"Happy with service, but communication needs improvement"
I've been very happy with what Palmilla Senior Living offers. One thing that could improve is their communication. It would help if they had a board or something to log specific information about the residents, so all staff members could stay informed. Other than that, everything has been good, and we are pleased with the service.

"Warm Welcomes and Great Food"
The staff at the assisted living facility was very friendly, and the food was excellent. However, one area where they could improve is in helping new residents connect with others. At my Mother's previous residence, they used a buddy system that worked well. They also organized luncheons for new residents to meet with buddies who volunteered. Additionally, they acknowledged residents who made extra efforts to help others feel comfortable. It's crucial for new residents to feel welcomed and make friends quickly.

"Very pleased with care and communication at Palmilla"
Moved my parents into Palmilla in December 2014. I’ve found the facility, staff, food, and activities to be very good. The Director of Wellness, Lizz, has been great at keeping me updated on my parents and handling issues, especially since I live far from Albuquerque and can't visit often. Their Residence Club has been a wonderful activity for my mother.

"Thank you, Palmilla, for your excellent care and attention!"
In June 2014, our 94-year-old mom moved into Assisted Living at Palmilla Senior Living in Albuquerque, NM. Our family is really happy with the care she’s getting. Any small problems that came up have been fixed, and she’s doing really well. The place is clean, the staff is friendly and attentive, the food is tasty, and there are many fun activities for residents. Since they added in-house physical therapy, we’ve seen a big improvement in her mental and physical health. She’s actually doing better now than when she first moved in. After having a bad experience elsewhere, we really appreciate how caring and professional everyone is at Palmilla.

"Ask Staff Retention"
I checked out quite a few places, and this was one of them. Many places have nice buildings and decorations, and this one was no exception. However, the people in charge seemed more concerned about keeping the rooms filled than taking good care of the residents. A lot of them don't want to take any responsibility. When you visit, be sure to ask how long the staff tends to stick around. It didn't feel very homey.

"Beautiful Views, Limited Options for Two Bedrooms"
My wife and I checked out Palmilla Senior Living twice while looking for a place in Albuquerque. We toured the whole place, ate a meal there, and liked a lot of what we saw. The best part is the view from the front of the building. You can see the Rio Grande Valley and the Sandia Mountains' western side—it’s the best view around for miles. We could spend all day sitting on a balcony or looking out the window at that scene. The problem is, none of the units that face that way are two-bedroom units like we need. It’s disappointing to be so close to the best sight in this area and still not have the right kind of apartment.

"Clean facility but lacks some amenities and attentive service."
It's quite clean, but sometimes the sanitizer bag in the dining room is empty. They don't always have enough staff in the dining room, so I often have to ask for things, and sometimes they forget. The staff is friendly and starting to remember me. The food is good. The fee for medication is pretty expensive. I liked that it's a new facility and the location.

"Palmilla Senior Living"
Palmilla has been a great place for my parents. They live in an independent apartment. The only issue I have is with the food. The program is good—meals are available from 7 am to 7 pm in a restaurant-style setting—but the menu doesn’t change much, and the food isn’t very healthy. Too many processed foods and not enough sugar or gluten substitutes. I wonder if they think older people don’t taste as much, but my parents do. Despite that, they’re happy with everything else. The facility is clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and there are lots of fun activities for my parents. Best of all, I don’t have to worry—they’ll be there for my parents if anything happens.

"Quality Went Downhill"
At first, they really went all out, and the food was delicious. But lately, things have gone downhill. The menu is super repetitive, and there aren't enough choices. That's my mom's biggest complaint. They promised to take her to doctor appointments, but now it costs $30 if it's over 10 miles away. I was really disappointed because the whole point is to help her when I'm working. Albuquerque isn't huge, so we have to go where the doctors are. I haven't seen them clean thoroughly; it's not dirty, but they miss those extra touches. The place looks beautiful, but they're not delivering on their promises. Overall, they're okay, but they're not as good as they were in the first month.
