"Family Involvement Enhances Care at Profit-Driven Facility"
There’s a big staff change-up often. The workers don’t get enough pay. The company that owns the place thinks they’re giving out plenty of money. There’s this new guy in the part of the home where they take care of people with memory issues, and he really seems to put his heart into it. The home does listen when families talk about what they need. If you’re thinking about this place, just know that having a good time here depends a lot on how much the resident’s family and buddies are ready to pitch in. They need to help make sure their loved one gets the care they’re paying for. The home can’t do everything by itself, not unless they decide to make less money and use it to better the food and pay for the people taking care of the residents. It feels like the chase for money has taken away from what was once a great spot.

"Assisted Living Needs More Staff and Better Food"
The workers are nice, but there aren't enough of them. I gave 4 stars for care quality because, once again, not enough staff. They serve reused food and meals don't match the menu. Often, food is overcooked.

"Friendly Staff, Paperwork Hassles"
Our family found the paperwork frustrating because everything had to be filled out by hand instead of being able to use a computer to edit a Word document. Many forms had the same questions repeated, which made it feel like we were doing the same thing over and over again. Another issue was that we couldn't move our loved one in over the weekend. It would have been great if we could have rented furniture from them or a company they work with. Despite these challenges, everyone was very friendly, nice, and caring. We would definitely recommend this place to others.

"Caring staff, on-site medical facility, and clean environment."
The staff here is very caring and loves their jobs. What impressed me most was the on-site medical facility, so my mom doesn't have to leave unless it's an emergency. They clean once a week, but I’ve seen them do it more often for Mom. I help out when I'm there, and the whole building is very clean. There have been a few small issues, but things are going better than I expected. I would definitely recommend this place to friends or family.

"Friendly staff, good food, needs better new resident process."
Everyone at The Woodmark is super friendly, and the staff really know the residents—they’re aware of what they’re doing each day and even know all their names. Overall, we’ve been happy with this community and would recommend it to other families. The food is decent; it’s not gourmet, but if our loved one wants more, the staff gladly bring seconds. We do think it would help to have a buddy system or some process to welcome new residents and show them around.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Promises and Quality"
The food isn't good, despite claims of a wonderful chef. Instead of freshly cooked meals, it's all frozen food reheated in the microwave. Dessert? Just ice cream, every time. The carpet? Old and dirty. Trash cans in rooms? Still full because the cleaning staff doesn't do their job. Pressing the call button? Don't expect a speedy response. While the staff is friendly and promises to address issues, they often fail to follow through.

"Great safety, friendly staff, but lack of activities and food care"
I've been 90% happy with The Woodmark. The safety for my loved one is great, and some of the caregivers are very friendly. However, there's one nurse who isn't friendly to either the residents or their families. They provide help with dressing and managing medication, and they work well with the hospice team. When I first brought my loved one here, there was an activities director, but now they don’t have one. They don’t really plan activities; they just put things in front of my loved one. On the bright side, my loved one likes watching the other people around. The food is just set in front of my loved one to eat.

"Friendly Community with Mixed Food Experience"
I moved in just before lockdown, so I can't compare it to pre-COVID times. The community is friendly. When we could eat in the dining room, the food was wonderful. Now it's boxed up for delivery, and I think it loses some taste. I usually have to warm it up, but they do a great job when it's served in the dining room.

"Mixed Feelings About The Woodmark Assisted Living Facility"
The Woodmark is a tall building owned by a family in the uptown area of the city. It used to look very nice, but now it seems a bit old. As soon as you walk in, there's a smell in the air. It's pleasant, but it seems like it's covering up another not-so-pleasant smell. The common areas are warm, but they're almost dark. The cost to move in is $2500. Studios cost between $3060 and $3285 per month. For a limited time, a large one-bedroom is $4250, and a two-bedroom is $6450. If there's a second person living with you, it's an extra $950 per month. Everything like utilities, meals, and 24-hour emergency calls are included. They couldn't tell me how much personal care services cost until I was there and they assessed me. The facility is big, and if you're on the higher floors, you can see the mountains and the city. They kept trying to offer me deals without me asking. You can eat three times a day, but after dinner, you can only have coffee and snacks. They have memory care starting at $4935 per month for a studio. You can have pets, but you have to pay a fee and rent monthly. I didn't like that I couldn't budget for personal care services, and they can't help with insulin injections for diabetes. They can help a couple with different care needs. At 3:30 pm, I didn't see many residents around. They offer housekeeping and laundry services, but there are also laundry rooms you can use yourself.

"Mom Thriving in New Assisted Living Clean, Engaging Environment"
Mom's doing great since moving here. We were worried before, but she loves it now. She's busy with activities, likes the staff and other folks. The place is really clean, and everything's taken care of well. Mom hasn't complained about the food, but it doesn't look too appetizing to me. Still, it's worth it for the great care she's getting.

"Room for Improvement, But Some Positives"
This place was the only option nearby that let my family member stay in assisted living instead of memory care. The workers are pretty busy, but they've made time to chat with us. I wish they'd give us more updates on how she's doing every day. She enjoys the desserts, and the meals are decent. They offer a variety of food options. I feel like they're not interacting with her as much as we'd prefer. They do have a beauty parlor on site.

I really like how clean this place is. The food is okay, but there aren't too many choices. They do have things to do every day, which is nice. Some of the musicians who come to perform are really good and super nice. The people who work here are friendly and caring. They always answer my questions and take care of any problems quickly. "Mixed experiences, reasonable option with average food and activities."
Two years ago, my mom was at The Woodmark at Uptown. The ownership changed multiple times in six months, causing frequent rule changes. She was initially assessed for assisted living but moved to a middle unit after trying to leave. Later, they planned to transfer her to nursing care. During lockdowns, visitors had to wait 20 minutes to leave. Overall, it's a reasonable option with average food and activities.

"Inferior food and dining service at Woodmark!"
My mother-in-law has resided at the Woodmark for a year and most of the staff there are really great. The main issue is the dining service and the quality of food. It's typically low-grade with really small helpings. Today's choices were bbq brisket and shrimp scampi, and it looked great because of a special holiday event for residents' families. Sadly, the beef mom got had too much fat and grease, so she couldn't eat it. Plus, she's can't eat seafood because of her allergy. After asking for a chicken fried steak, a usual menu item, she was told that the grill was closed for the day. Even a simple grilled cheese sandwich was unavailable. I got a call from her at 12:20 demanding I bring her some food from outside. This is totally uncalled-for! This isn't the first time such things have happened. There have been instances of uncooked waffle and french fries and whatnot. When I discussed the matter with the manager, he informed me that they've fired several employees recently, and are looking for replacements. They let people go even before having replacements ready? That's really poor management! Mom will be shifting to a different facility soon.

"Staff too quick to judge, limited encouragement for residents"
At The Woodmark at Uptown, I sometimes feel like the staff are too quick to react. My relative has only been there for a month, and she's already been to the hospital twice. I think they jump to conclusions too fast. They're really serious about assisted living. They don't really motivate her to leave her room much. She's dealing with early onset dementia, adjusting to a new place, new faces, everything's new. But the staff already want to move her to memory care. I think it's too early, but we're discussing it.

The Woodmark has been a great place for both of my parents. My mom has dementia and needs a lot of care, and the staff has been wonderful in helping her with both her social and medical needs. "Nice Place, But Too Big for Mom’s Comfort"
The Woodmark is a really pretty place, but it might be too big for my mom. She might not feel at home and could get too stressed out. It’s got a lot of cool stuff, but maybe it’s not the best fit for her, especially the part where she’d get help with daily stuff. The Monarch area, where they help people remember things better, is smaller and might work, but there’s no space right now.

We visited this community while searching for care for our family member. It looked really nice, but it didn't quite feel like the cozy atmosphere we were hoping for. "Room for Improvement in Assisted Living Facility"
They're pretty good, but they could do better. They need more fun activities the movies are bad, and there aren't enough groups. The value is decent for what you get. They clean up the basics like towels and sheets. The food got worse since they changed chefs, it's alright but not great like before. They need to communicate better and have someone at the front desk all the time. Still, they keep the place clean and care about us. They're friendly and consistent, which is good.

"Quality Care and Friendly Staff in Assisted Living Facility"
This place is really nice overall. It's super clean, and the staff are really friendly. What made me decide was they offer a level of care between assisted living and skilled nursing that's perfect for my loved one, which isn't common in other places. One thing I don't like is they started a program where caregivers switch around, and I'd prefer my loved one to stick with the same people.
