"Comfortable and Caring Assisted Living with Room for Improvement"
Mom chose Atria Briarcliff because she knew it well. It's not brand new but kept up nicely and cozy. The staff is the best part Mom adores them! They're friendly, helpful, and really kind. The services are top-notch but cost a lot. Lots of activities to join in, but Mom wishes there were more meal choices.

"Lacking Activities and Care in Assisted Living Facility"
The assisted living facility is quite pricey. The apartments and overall facility are clean and pleasant. The staff is friendly, and the meals are satisfactory. However, there's a lack of engaging activities—just bingo and movies. Exercise classes are merely videos, and there are no on-site exercise facilities or sufficient care.

"People Make the Difference"
I visited Atria Briarcliff Manor, and they were good. The lady who showed me around did a nice job. However, the residents at the other place we chose seemed friendlier, they stopped us in the hall and said, "Hi, are you coming here? We love it here." I didn't get that vibe at Atria. The director at the other community, sealed the deal for us. When we met them, we knew that's where we wanted to be, not Atria. When you're spending this much money, they're all nice-looking. Atria was beautiful and clean, and the lady was friendly - but it's the people that really matter. The lady who showed me around here was wonderful. We chose another community because the people made it a step up, even though it wasn't just about appearances.

"Mixed Experience with Assisted Living; Overall Positive but Room for Improvement"
My family member is really happy living here, and we're happy too. The only thing that bothers me is they were supposed to be weighed every day as the doctor said after leaving the hospital, but that didn't happen. I've also asked to be told when the doctor visits them and what the results are, but I've never been told. I've also mentioned that they need to eat less sodium, but that doesn't always happen, although they do like the food. The activities they offer seem to be increasing, and they encourage everyone to join in. The staff and the people who live here are all really nice. Overall, my family member loves it here and we would recommend it, but they need to follow through on things better.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: A Cautionary Tale"
Thinking about where to place your loved one? Check out BEING MORTAL by Atul Gawande and watch the documentary LIFE AND DEATH IN ASSISTED LIVING. The Atria in Briarcliff Manor may look nice, but it's got some issues. Staff are kind but not well-trained. The director might not be the best fit. And be prepared for surprise rent increases. Update: My 97-year-old mother with dementia was evicted and mistreated by the new director. Despite improvement, Atria refused readmittance, leading to multiple moves and a decline in health, ultimately resulting in her passing. Moving elderly folks can be risky.

"Deceptive practices at Atria Briarcliff, trouble with refunds."
We were happy when we first visited Atria Briarcliff. The place was beautiful, and everyone was really friendly. But, we needed to put down some money to keep the room for my loved one before she was checked out for move-in day. We gave the money thinking it would be held until after her review, but they took it anyway. This felt really sneaky and left a bad taste in our mouths. In the end, we didn't move my loved one there, and it took over a month to get our money back because they kept avoiding us. Atria Briarcliff is a nice place, but I want others to know about what happened to us so they won't go through the same trouble we did.
