"Smaller, Private Rooms with Personal Care in Welcoming Community"

We chose this community for its smaller size, ensuring personalized care for my loved one. The spacious room with a private kitchenette and bathroom made her feel comfortable and settled. She has integrated well, receiving kindness from everyone. I highly recommend it to other families; it's a pleasant place.

"Great facility with strong COVID safety and excellent food"

It's a nice, attractive place in a safe area. They do a great job with COVID safety, making sure people check in, wear masks, and use hand sanitizer. They helped us with the tour and move-in, and she was really helpful. It can be a bit hard to get in touch with people because they’re busy, and I often have to wait for callbacks. My dad says the food is fantastic, like being on a cruise without the seasickness. I like that the shared rooms are actually two individual suites with a common area, kitchenette, and bathroom. I didn’t see that in other places I visited, and it’s great that he has his own space. Overall, we’re happy with the experience.

"Good Looks, Bad Care at Braemar Community"

Braemar's place looks like a fancy hotel, but don't be fooled. When our family member was living there, the medical care was terrible. Whenever we had things to ask about our family member, we never got a simple, clear answer. We wouldn't tell other families to send their loved ones there.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Care and Communication"

My mom, 98, and my sister, 69, got sick with COVID. They said they'd check on them every hour, but when we call, they don't know much. No one has called us back yet. When we visit outside, neither of them had their emergency necklaces. They need help with showers and dressing, so it's strange they're missing. They say they lost them. Mom falls out of her wheelchair every 10 days, and without the necklace, she can't alert anyone for help. When we visit, Mom seems too medicated. We called to talk about her meds, but no one got back to us. There's only one doctor for 150 people, and he only comes once a week. I talked to the rep about staffing, and she thinks they're fine, but with only 4 aides for 150 people, it doesn't add up.

"Attractive Braemar Facility Falls Short on Care and Organization"

The Braemar Complex sure is pretty, but trust me, that's about the only good thing about it. The way they treat people there is terrible! They don't have enough staff and it's super disorganized. We've had so many problems with how they've cared for my dad, or rather, didn't care for him. The Wellness crew is not nice to patients or their families and they never follow up on things they say they will. My dad passed away at this facility, choking on food in their dining room. He was supposed to be helped with meals, but obviously, that didn't happen. I definitely recommend steering clear of this place!

"Friendly, life-saving care, great activities, decent food, and clean."

We visited many places, but Braemar Living at Wallkill stood out as the best. We chose it for the cleanliness and variety of activities they offer, like dancing, game nights, and trips to ball games. The room sizes are decent; my dad shares a friendship suite with a kitchenette and bathroom. He says the food is pretty good, and there’s a menu with off-menu options available. They also have a café for snacks. What I love most is the care they give my dad. The aides have saved his life twice, and they all know him by name. Everyone is friendly, and he even has friends from church here. I would recommend Braemar Living and already have.

"Unsatisfactory Wellness Center with Locking Nurses' Station"

The Wellness Center, where the nurses' station locks itself.

"Disappointing Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

As my friend's health care proxy, I want to share feedback. He's unhappy. The food isn't good enough, and he didn't get the microwave he was promised. His new clothes went missing, and when I asked for reimbursement, the case worker didn't know what to do.

"Mixed Experience at Braemar Living for Mom's Care Needs"

Braemar Living is a good spot for our Mom. They have some problems with staff and talking, but we hope they fix those soon. Most of the staff are really nice and try hard to make sure Mom has what she needs, and sometimes what she wants. But there are a few not-so-nice staff members we had to complain about. They're also short on staff, which has been going on for the whole month Mom's been there. There are lots of fun things to do every day, and something special at least once a week. The location is great, close to medical, fun, and shopping places, and easy to get to from two big highways.

"Modern but cold, high price for mediocre amenities, available rooms."

It's a really new place, and it's owned by a big company. They've got all the fancy stuff, but it feels kinda sterile. The two-bedroom apartment wasn't set up well. They're asking over $8,000 each month, which seems like a lot, especially since they double it for the second person. And it's not really clear what you're paying extra for, maybe just some food and extra laundry. But, they do have some rooms open.

"New, Overpriced Facility with Poorly Designed Suites and Availability"

This place is pretty new and managed by a big company. It has a lot of fancy features but feels really impersonal. Plus, the 2-bedroom suite doesn't have a great floor plan. It costs over $8,000 a month, which seems too high since they double the price for the second person just for extra food and laundry. But, they do have rooms available.

"Mixed Feelings About Braemar Assisted Living"

Braemar looks really nice, but it has too many activities. We had some issues and thought it could be our backup to Promenade, which felt cozier. But surprisingly, Braemar wouldn’t accept my mother based on Park Manor’s recommendation. We liked their extra services and amenities, but the staff should’ve explained better.

"Braemar: Good Facilities, But Unclear Rejection!"

Braemar's a good-looking place with tons of activities. My mom might've even been a little too busy with everything they had. We had some problems with it though, so Promenade was our first choice because it felt more like home. But when Promenade didn't take mom in, we thought Braemar would definitely have a spot for her since they offer all sorts of care. We were surprised and let down when they didn't accept her, just like Park Manor recommended. We really liked Braemar and everything they offered. They even had added services for the residents and other cool extras we liked. I just wish the people working there would've done a better job telling us why they didn't take my mom." .

"Feels Like a Hotel, Not a Nursing Home"

My parents enjoyed living here. The community is newer, clean, and well-kept. It feels more like a hotel than a nursing home.”

"Feels like a nice hotel, parents enjoyed living here."

My folks enjoyed staying here. The place is really nice. It's not old and yucky like some other places. It's clean and they take good care of it. It's not like a boring old nursing home. It's more like staying in a fancy hotel.

"Great Community, Caring Staff, and Lots of Activities"

My mom is slowly getting used to the community, but the staff and everyone there are wonderful. It's a great place for her. They help her out since she can’t be on her own. There are many activities and nice things happening every day. The staff is caring and compassionate towards all the residents.

"Great Location, Clean, Helpful Staff, Tasty Meals; Aunt Thriving"

I really like living here because it's close to where I need to go and everything is always clean. My aunt moved in with me, and since then, she's been doing really well. All the people who work here are really nice and do their jobs well. They always make sure my aunt's room is clean, as well as the rest of the place. The food they serve is really good and hot, and my aunt enjoys it. Sometimes she even joins in on the fun activities they have.

"Great place, but needs more staff."

My husband is at this community. The place is beautiful, and they try their best to keep him safe. But there have been changes with the head nurse, and there doesn't seem to be enough staff in memory care. We had issues with his medication and asked for a change. They lost many of his things, like his glasses, shoes, and clothes. I had to replace a lot of items.

"Fantastic Care and Great Activities for Loved Ones"

This is a really nice place, and they take great care of my aunt. The facility is fantastic, always clean and well-kept. The staff is wonderful, very attentive and helpful. She was in the memory care unit, and I felt good about the care she received. They had excellent activities for people with Alzheimer's. The food is delicious with lovely meals. I highly recommend this place.

"Braemar Living at Wallkill is a top choice for care"

Senior Advisor was really helpful. Lorraine from A Place for Mom did a great job finding memory care facilities for us. We found a wonderful place for my mother to live. Braemar Living at Wallkill has been fantastic for her. The place is beautiful, the staff are nice, and Mom gets excellent care. They have great activities every week and lots of chances to interact.
