"Assisted Living Facility Review: Room for Improvement"
The staff is nice and caring, but communication could improve. My mom says the food is just okay, but they sometimes forget about her lactose-free diet, which makes her sick. Her room is often dirty, so I have to clean it myself. Despite this, I feel she is safe there, though the timing is bad due to COVID.

"Improved Communication Enhances Assisted Living Facility Experience"
The staff at this place is really nice. The people who clean and fix things in the rooms do a great job. Sometimes they don't keep us informed about what's happening with my mom, but it's gotten better since she's been living there a while. My mom likes the food and she's making more friends now. She's also getting involved in more activities they offer, which is great. One thing they could do better is to talk to us more directly after someone moves in. I would tell other families to think about sending their loved ones here.

"Overall positive experience."
My sister-in-law stayed in the memory care unit at Elderwood Willage in Bassett Park. We picked it because of availability, location, and positive feedback from a family member. The room sizes were small but okay. They explained everything well during the tour, and their cooperation made the process easy. I'd recommend it to friends or family.

"LACK OF CLEANLINESS IN LIVING SPACES"
The bathrooms in the living spaces are dirty and unhygienic.. the cleaning employees don’t clean the bed covers. There's a need for someone to investigate the tidiness of these rooms. The blinds are covered with a thick layer of dust.

We really like the care at this place. The staff is always caring. The community could use a bit more upkeep. The menu was nice. The staff tried to get my mom involved in the activities available for residents who wanted to join. We would recommend this place for good care to other families.

"Limited Options, Considerate Staff"
This Brookdale facility mainly provides rooms or studios, not full apartments for those needing assistance. We heard there might be a few one-bedroom units, and if so, we'll visit. The staff in Kenmore promised to check for us. Since my mother has friends in Williamsville, staying there would make more sense than moving to Kenmore.

"Decent, but Lack of Apartments at Brookdale; Hoping for Availability"
Like many Brookdale facilities, this one mainly offers only rooms or studios rather than actual apartments for those needing help. We've heard there might be a few one-bedroom units. If any are available, we plan to check them out. The folks at the Kenmore location kindly said they'd help us look. This would be pretty convenient for my mom as she still has several friends in Williamsville, which is closer to us than Kenmore.

"Great Assisted Living Facility!"
My aunt and I went to this place. It was super clean, everyone was friendly, and the rooms were really nice. My aunt liked the location, and it’s not expensive for assisted living. They even have a van to take people to doctor’s appointments, and other services (like physical therapy) come right to the place. Plus, they let residents have small pets if they can take care of them. Overall, it’s a fantastic facility, and it’s definitely on our list!

"Lovely Place But Limited Care Options"
I went to check out this place, and it was really nice. They had a special area for people with dementia, and they offered different kinds of help for those who need it, like getting dressed or taking a shower, but you have to pay extra for that. I would have liked to choose this place, but there's one big drawback: if you run out of money to pay privately, you can't stay there anymore. Also, they don't have a unit for skilled nursing care, so if you need more advanced medical help, you'd have to go somewhere else.

My sis-in-law isn't too thrilled about her life at Brookdale. She tells me it's She and even found spider webs in her bathroom. But she does enjoy the meals. There are only a couple folks she likes over there. The place doesn't offer a lot of fun stuff to keep her busy or challenge her a bit.

"Mismatch Between Assisted Living Promises and Practice"
My family member has recently started living here, and I've been visiting every day for quite some time. There's much room for improvement in this place. The services they offer are not exactly what they claim during their promotion. When you mention these shortcomings to their staff, they just brush it off saying, "We don't do that, this is assisted living." I plan to have a serious discussion with the Executive Director on this once I've collected my thoughts and observations. Meanwhile, I had a private chat with one of the residents about their response time to the call light. This person informed me about their "fall policy," which they conveniently didn't mention during their sales spiel. I plan to request this policy in writing as soon as possible. It's important for families to stand up for their older relatives.

"Caring Staff, Comfortable Living"
I gave this place 4.5 stars. We saw some places with bigger rooms, but they cost almost $1,000 more each month. The studio here is big enough for a twin bed, small table, recliner, TV, and small fridge. The people are very caring and helpful. I gave four stars for care services because when my Dad pulls the cord in his room, it takes at least 20 minutes for someone to come. I think that’s too slow. Luckily, it wasn’t an emergency for my Dad. Overall, this place is nice and comfortable with caring staff for the price.

"Disappointing Move-In Experience at Bassett Park Manor Assisted Living"
My sister and I believed that Bassett Park Manor would be a great place for our mom based on all the great things we heard from people who live there and their families. However, we didn't have the best experience when it came time for mom to move in. It seemed like we could move her in any time on Friday, but it turned out we actually had to do it over the weekend. There was a lot of confusion because the lady in charge of health and wellness wasn't there, we had trouble sorting out mom's medications, and her room wasn't ready for her. We felt like we had to figure everything out on our own. Moving forward, we're worried because both my sister and I live out-of-state. We're not going to be able to pop in every week to make sure mom's okay. Also, as of August 1, 2014, Bassett Park Manor has been bought by Brookdale, who now own the most assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and so on in the whole country.

"FORGOTTEN NEEDS IN ASSISTED LIVING HOME"
The home has now added an extra $200 fee for medicine distribution, something usually included in assisted living costs! The individual rooms are not cleaned adequately, with dusting largely neglected. In fact, when I cleaned my mom's room, I found about 6 months' worth of dirt on her blinds. A water cooler is provided near the dining area, but there were no cups and the water tray was full and filthy with unspecified debris. The management appears to overlook these ongoing issues. The home seems interested only in positive feedback, which I cannot honestly provide.

This place has one kind of floor plan with private and spacious rooms. There are plenty of activities to do. The staff is really nice and gets things done. They even organize special events and trips. It's in a great location, on a quiet street across from a Catholic school. There are lots of lounge areas where people can hang out. "Perfect Fit for Our Needs"
We think this place is the best fit for my mother-in-law. It’s a small, one-floor facility, which is great because she has trouble walking. At other places, she would have to deal with stairs or elevators if there were multiple levels. The staff has been wonderful, and our experience has been very positive. Since she isn’t very social, she gets annoyed when people come into her room at different times of the day, but they’re just there to give her medication or change her sheets. She also has difficulty swallowing, so they’ve been very accommodating by crushing her pills or mixing them in pudding. The food is good too; I’ve eaten there a few times over the past couple of months, and it’s been tasty.

The Emeritus at Bassett Manor seemed like the best choice mainly because of its location and price. I looked at another place called Montgomery Park, but Emeritus had a special offer that made it cheaper. What's nice is they let residents bring their cats, which I found really cool.
