"Paid for two showers a week but got less service"
We paid for two showers a week, but for 8 months, we had trouble getting even one shower per week. Sometimes it would be 10 days between showers. Now we’ve stopped paying for the showers to try and make them act.

"Friendly staff but needs more help in common areas"
The staff were very friendly to our loved one and our family. They paid close attention to my loved one's needs and always helped with family requests and questions. I had to help residents with different tasks, and I was glad to do it. However, they should have more staff around to help residents in the common areas.

"Not Quite Up to Par"
Brookdale Kenmore didn't match up to our chosen place. During the tour, the lady emphasized that it's private pay and has unique clients, which felt snobbish. Everything costs extra, like pulling the emergency cord. Cable and Wi-Fi aren't included. The facility looked okay, but not better than other places.

"Striving Amid Staffing Challenges"
The staff is friendly, but they're short-handed, especially on weekends. They've been kind to me and my loved one, working with the limited staff they have. The food is great, and activities like painting, workouts, and trivia are enjoyable. They're doing their best despite the staffing challenges.

"Great Service and Flexibility with Attentive Staff and Good Food"
They’ve been really accommodating and offer good rides to appointments. They’ve also been flexible with us during Covid. The staff are attentive to my loved one and generally help her without getting frustrated. The food looks pretty nice too.

"Brookdale Makes Transition Smooth and Residents Happy with Meals"
We feel very lucky to have found Brookdale. Even though we're far from our loved ones, the staff really understands and communicates well with us. They help us stay in touch with our loved one and always answer our questions. The move was very smooth, and we're very thankful for that. The residents are now getting more involved in activities. They used to have limited options, but now the community is planning trips to different places. Also, everyone seems to enjoy the meals and dining service.

"Costly Facility with Communication Issues Amidst COVID"
The facility is neat and the employees are quite nice. My father became a resident in early March, right before the COVID pandemic started. The first time I saw him again was just last week. Sadly, the only interaction I had with the facility during that period was when they sent me bills. There was a noticeable lack of communication between the staff, the residents, and their families. Brookdale Kenmore is quite costly, with many additional charges that doubled our expenses. The quality of care services has declined since the onset of COVID. The facility does have a dining hall where residents have their meals three times a day. We were fond of the sales director and chose the facility mainly because of its convenient location. It's very close to our home.

"Headline: "Declining Quality and Care Concerns at Brookdale Assisted Living""
Don't ever let your loved one stay here. Years ago, this place was nice and well-managed. But when Brookdale took over, the quality of care and overall experience went downhill. They seem more interested in your money than looking after your loved one. Most of the staff are terrible, although the food is pretty good. Don't count on your loved one being engaged or active here – it seems like they'd prefer if residents stayed in their rooms. Do your own laundry because if you don't, most of it's likely to disappear – typically ending up in another resident's room. The cleaning is a total joke. They use the same filthy mop water for every room. Just avoid this place at all costs. There are much better-run facilities in the area. Do your homework before making a decision.

"Energetic Marketing Director at Assisted Living Facility"
I visited this place when seeking a new home for my Mom. This community didn't end up being our choice because it was too far from my house. The person in charge of marketing was really nice and knew her stuff. She was also super outgoing. Aside from the distance, the other issue we saw was that the bathrooms weren't really designed well for wheelchairs. There's this tricky four-inch lip to get over. If these two problems weren't there, this place would have scored better. I think other families should check it out.

"Friendly Staff But Insufficient Maintenance at Urban Assisted Living Facility"
This assisted living place is in a city-type setting with practically no green space. It's got roughly 113 units and loads of staff. The place is spread out in a square design over three floors. It's totally dedicated to assisted living and services included medication management. Cable TV was included, but phone service wasn't. Chair classes are held in the mornings, but there aren't any other exercise options. We saw a one-bedroom apartment and a two-bedroom apartment, both facing the street. There are also one-bedroom apartments facing the inner courtyard. The street-facing one-bedroom was okay, but had no privacy and would be noisy since it is right on a busy road with no leafy trees for shade. We never got to see an apartment with a courtyard view. Small pets are allowed. The downside was the poor cleanliness and upkeep. Nearly every public area needed to be cleaned. Furniture was out of place, hardware parts were missing, doors were heavily scuffed and paint was peeling everywhere. Piles of dirty laundry were left in the hallways, along with small stools and other items that could cause trips and falls. The staff was friendly, but the poorly kept conditions didn't make us feel the place was well maintained.

"Good Care in a Comfortable Setting"
Our mom moved in this week. So far, it's good. Some small things could be better, but overall, it's a good place doing a good job with very frail people. Since it's "enhanced" assisted living, they handle more than regular assisted living, like helping with the toilet, shower, and escorting to the dining room. It keeps mom out of a nursing home, even though it costs more, and lets her stay in an apartment-like setting with extra care. The food is very good and varied, with lots of activities. Many people here use walkers and wheelchairs, so you get the idea. Some people have pets. The staff is friendly but a bit straightforward. There aren't many aides, and we've noticed this too, as other reviews mentioned. It seems to be one aide per floor, so there can be some waiting. But overall, we're happy with Brookdale Kenmore so far and hope it works for us for a long time.

"'Place is Good but Help Response Time is Slow'"
My mom is getting used to this place pretty well. Yes, it's a nice place but my real issue is how long they take to help my mom when she needs it. They've got to speed up on answering her help calls. Mom really likes it here and we do too, but they've definitely got to get better at response times.

"Mixed Feelings Towards Assisted Living Facility's Management and Services"
There have been problems with the drugstore, both with how they charge you and with them making mistakes with the medicine. The first bill was messed up, it had stuff on there for the care plan that wasn't needed. There was no detailed information about the bill, the way they handle billing could be better. They don't get back to you fast enough. Some of the helpers care and some don't. Also, there are one or two nurses who don't read or use the chart, though there are some who do. Something worries me. However, the head nurse is great, she's trying to fix this place. I chose it because I didn't have a lot of choices, there were only two places nearby that offered more care, and the other one had a waiting list.

"Assisted Living Facility Lacks Timeliness in Medication and Assistance"
My mother's stay at this living facility hasn't been great. Without asking for special treatment, I just want the services we paid for to be delivered. My main issue is medications aren't given out at the proper times. An hour delay is supposed to be the maximum, but two hours isn't okay. Whenever I inquire about her medication schedule, they tell me to not meddle. Moreover, when a resident calls for help, staff members are slow to respond. Over an hour's wait isn't right. If a crisis happens, they should be there in seconds.

"Great Care and Comfort for My Mom"
My mom has been at Wynwood of Kenmore, now called Brookdale Senior Living, for 7 months. I'm really glad we found this place and chose it. The apartments are big and very clean. I feel like my mom is very well cared for. The staff is always available on the phone, and when I visit, they are easy to talk to and handle any concerns we have. The meals are very good and often quite tasty. I'm from out of state and have decided to move my mom to another Brookdale facility closer to my home in NJ so I can see her more often. They have the same routine, and I know I can trust Brookdale to keep taking good care of her. I would recommend this place to anyone looking in the Kenmore/Buffalo area. I'm happy we decided to move her there.

"Wonderful place with caring staff and comfy rooms"
The staff here is really nice and always happy to help. The room, bedroom, and bathroom are big and clean. I feel good knowing my elderly uncle will be well taken care of and won’t have to move again. As we were leaving after setting up his room, we met a friendly man who’s there for rehab. He knows my uncle and will help him out. We left feeling very sure that Wynwood is the best choice.

"Great place with friendly staff, but needs more activities."
This place looks really nice and they take good care of it. The people who work here are really nice too. The nurses know what they're doing. But, there's not enough room to park your car. And they could have more things to do. They focus too much on exercising and not enough on fun stuff.

"Overpriced Care and Hidden Charges at Wynwood Assisted Living"
While Wynwood appears amazing from the outside and their first-floor common spaces are inviting, once you peel back the layers, the shine begins to wear off. Their staff, who interact with the residents day to day, are deeply caring and kind, but they seem to be short on help since we moved in a few months ago. I can't help but feel they are likely underpaid for the work they do. We moved into a lovely two-bedroom apartment and were excited to customize it to our tastes. Part of the package included three daily meals in an elegant, restaurant-like dining area with clean white tablecloths, which Mom absolutely loved. The food passed the taste test too, but the long wait times before being served felt like a symptom of being understaffed. The service package also included laundry, apartment cleaning and a full calendar of activities, but it all felt like a fancy version of a basic "Senior Living" residence. Anything beyond that, like medication assistance, was counted as an additional cost. On mornings when Mom didn't fancy leaving her room for breakfast, they obliged to bring it to her room, at an additional price. To top it off, her in-room breakfast choice was limited to just oatmeal, a muffin, and coffee. Even assistance for bathing and escort services for activities and meals came at an extra cost. Unfortunately, after a recent fall during an activity, they've decided that she can't return to her apartment. Despite all the downsides, she did meet some wonderful fellow residents and employees, and she sincerely tried to adapt to the new lifestyle.

"Moderate Pricing, Good Food But Lacks Enough Care Staff"
This place isn't too pricey and it's conveniently close for me to walk to pretty easily. The issues aren't always there, but we've had a few. The room wasn't clean enough when we moved in. I get the sense that they're short on staff and the cleaner can't reach every room daily. I sometimes vacuum the room myself. The everyday care is okay but if she is sick or needs extra attention, it seems like there's not enough staff. Things tend to run smoother when her usual caregiver is around. If her caregiver is away, it gets rocky. The food, on the other hand, is tasty and overall, this place works for us.

"Communication Lacking During Parents' Trial Stay"
We gave a short stay a shot since my folks were uncommonly self-sufficient for their dementia but the staff seemed concerned. I didn't want them sent to the memory care unit, feeling caged in, and they had other services available if needed anyway. No one was really talking to me about things, though. When we arrived, things weren't ready as planned. The furniture still needed arranging, and it took a good two or three days out of our two week trial to get their phone and TV up and running.

"Not The Best Experience: Mediocre and Overwhelming For Some"
This place reminded me of a skyscraper. I wasn't really amazed by it. At first glance, it's like a hotel and areas are not very wide open until you go beyond the reception desk and around the corner where there's a bit of a cramped, lounge-like space. There aren't any large rooms. It seemed more intended for people who can mostly take care of themselves. The residents didn't seem like the right group of people for her and I thought the place was too big for her to get around comfortably.

"Great so far! Excellent transportation."
Everything’s pretty good here. The care is excellent, and I haven’t encountered any issues. The food is tasty—definitely not slop. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the management is very nice. Being on the bus route makes it convenient, and I’m a fan of the van service. Surprisingly, Mom is doing better than expected; she likes it. I’m also adjusting well—I had initial doubts, but the transportation and responsive nurses have made it easier. They cleared up a medication issue promptly.

"Overpromised and Underdelivered: A Tale of Assisted Living"
We've been facing several issues at this assisted living community, with the most significant one probably being that they lack enough staff. When we make use of the emergency call light, it always takes far too long, at least half an hour, for anyone to respond. Even when more than one person is required for a job, they seem to only dispatch one. With 30 residents on each floor and only one staff member available to respond to calls, things quickly become chaotic when help is needed elsewhere. They promise exceptional care and commitment before move-in but once you become a resident, that special attention and effort seem to disappear. Had we known what we were in for from the beginning, we would have picked another facility for our loved one. On top of that, the billing has been far from straightforward. We were initially told to expect a cost of about $7,000, but ended up with a bill closer to $10,000. There was no explanation provided for the discrepancy. When it comes to activities, only those physically capable of reaching the venue can participate. Staff don’t inform residents about upcoming activities, calendars aren't provided in rooms, and there’s little to no attempt to involve residents. The dining arrangements also leave a lot to be desired. They provide separate dining shifts, but cleanliness is compromised as the second shift residents have to eat on the same, potentially dirty tables used by the first shift. The hallways and resident doors aren’t kept very clean either. Overall, it seems like their advertisement ploys and attempts to win you over stop once you're in and paying. We're seriously disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this facility to anybody.

"Spacious, convenient living with flexible dining options, budget-friendly."
This place was kind of tough to park at, had to park on a side street. But once you're inside, it's really roomy and has nice spots to chill out. You might need the elevator to get to the dining area, but they're pretty good about letting you eat whenever you want. The rooms are way bigger than at Sterling, and it's cheaper too. It's a good fit for folks who can do more on their own.
