"Mixed experience with staffing and untried activities."
My mom lives at Brookdale Niskayuna, and it's mostly good. I gave lower ratings because of staffing issues. She hasn't tried the activities yet, so I can't rate them fairly.

"Great place, lacks flexibility for individual needs"
The facility, staff, and meals are all very good. My only complaint is they seem like a big company. They work great if everything goes to plan, but they might not be flexible with individual needs.

"Highly Recommended Assisted Living"
Brookdale Niskayuna stood out because they offered the services we required, and a friend’s mom had a positive stay there. The staff and residents are friendly, and turnover seems low. I’d recommend it for assisted living care.

"Slow Response and Inconsistent Care"
Things they could do better: When residents call for help, it takes them quite a while to respond. Also, they need to stick to the care plans they're given. Our loved one is supposed to be taken to the restroom every 2 hours, but that isn't happening consistently.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The money stuff can be annoying. There are different pieces that move around, and it seems like the people in charge don't always talk to each other. The food right now is kinda boring—it's the same old thing. But most of the workers are nice, and the whole place does what it's supposed to do.

"Assisted Living Review: Happy Resident Despite Covid Restrictions"
My family member really likes it there. They like the people who work there and the building. It's hard to judge now because of Covid. But until now, they've been very good about answering our questions, are following the Covid rules, and are keeping us informed about what's going on.

"Brookdale Feels Like Home and Helps My Mom Adjust"
We picked Brookdale because it felt like home, and my mom could easily move from assisted living to memory care. The place is nice, and the people are friendly. The rooms don’t look like hospital rooms, which is important. My mom really likes the food here. During COVID, they did window visits, and now we can do outside visits. Our favorite part about Brookdale is that it feels homey, so my mom adjusted easily. I would recommend it.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
The place is clean and looks nice, but they don’t always have enough aides. This can be a problem if your loved one needs extra care. Sometimes, they don’t finish important tasks on time because they don’t have enough staff. Also, you have to pay for each service separately, and it gets expensive. The apartments are good, though. It’s okay if the person living there can mostly take care of themselves.

"Mixed Experience at Brookdale Niskayuna Assisted Living Facility"
We lived at Brookdale Niskayuna for about three months. Overall, most of the staff were nice, some were excellent. But the biggest issue was the dining room. The waitstaff were rude, reaching over residents and pointing to take orders. The food was good but sloppily served, often running out of menu items. Once, a waitress spilled milk on my cereal and didn't clean up. The dining room and elevator floors were dirty. Some residents complained about medication delays. We had billing problems too, receiving items we returned and struggling to get credits processed.

"We Had a Pleasant Community Tour"
This community was really nice, and my tour was pleasant. Everyone treated my family and me kindly. The place was neat and tidy, and the staff we met were polite and helpful. They answered all our questions. Everything went well, but I found a better fit for my aunt's needs.

"Dangerous, Unsupportive Assisted Living Facility"
This facility is absolutely horrible. I've come across many positive reviews about it and cannot help but think those were penned by employees. This home is far from impressive. The caregivers are neither kind nor supportive. These are just false statements. Don't be misled by the rosy reviews. If you're a completely self-sufficient individual who requires no aid, then you may survive because assistance is rarely available. Astonishingly, the staff are not permitted to help residents who have fallen. Check the town's records for the number of times emergency services were summoned because people had fallen and were left waiting for assistance. When illnesses strike, they recurrently happen 3 or 4 times within a year. Shockingly, they don't even hire professionals to extensively clean and disinfect the place. If you truly care for your loved ones, keep them far away from this establishment.

"Clean and Comfortable Assisted Living with Room for Improvement"
We were really impressed when we visited. It was super clean, more like a house than a place for older folks. There were spaces for reading and relaxing. But my dad was worried. He thought there should have been an orientation or some info about who to talk to. He said he had to figure things out on his own, which wasn't easy. I wanted physical therapy, but it took a while to start. Still, overall, it's a good deal.

"Decent Stay, Needs Better Organization"
I feel like things were a bit mixed up. They didn’t give me a guidebook when my dad moved in. His room had broken screens, and I didn’t know who to talk to about fixing them. It seems like you have to ask over and over before anything gets done. It’s like everyone’s confused there. They didn’t show my dad around, so he doesn’t know where stuff is. He fell recently, and when he asked a nurse to put a new bandage on his arm, she didn’t do it. I ended up doing it myself, and honestly, I did it better. But hey, he really likes the meals there. So, it’s okay, I guess. Now that I finally got the guidebook, things might start looking up.

"Staff Negligence and Poor Services at Assisted Living Facility"
My dad lived at this place for two months and his health got worse rapidly. They told us he would have round-the-clock care and that by pressing a button, he could get help. This didn't happen. Everything Jennifer told us was false. When we moved my dad in, the staff disappeared. They were always in a "meeting" that seemed to last forever. My dad would press the help button and he'd be waiting for almost an hour for an aide's assistance. The staff was not friendly. I'm not sure they even understood what my dad and I were saying. After many complaints, aides would occasionally press my dad's button as they should when entering his room. But, they'd leave right after and return half an hour later, always showing rudeness. Although we paid for him to have two showers a week, he received only one shower in two weeks. Sometimes, they promised to return but didn't. Don't get tricked by how nice this place looks. It looked great during our initial visit, but upon moving in, it was far from it.

"Avoid Wynwood: Worst Care and Staff at an Assisted Living"
Wynwood really let us down! My dad's experience there was just awful. Whenever he needed assistance, it was as if the staff were never around. If they did finally show up, it was only after making him wait for an hour. All the staff members seemed really grumpy and were always in a rush. They showed no patience and were unkind in the way they talked to my dad. Even after raising these concerns, nothing got better. I ran into another resident who shared that there's barely enough staff to handle all four floors. I regret not looking into Wynwood more before choosing it for my dad. We managed to find a new place for dad and moved him the minute a spot opened up.

""Expensive Wynwood - Unresponsive and Difficult Management""
Wynwood charges you for everything. They're slow when it comes to responding to residents' calls and getting a callback from the management is a hurdle. We were shelling out $8100 each month and when we moved to Wynwood, the price was $3100.

"Lacking Communication and Medical Support: Disappointing Experience at Wynwood"
My mom lived at Wynwood for two months. She didn't adjust well. I'm not a local caregiver, but the people on the tour said they'd meet her needs. One Sunday, Mom was upset. The front desk sent a caregiver to her apartment, but they didn't call me back as promised. They don't email families. When I asked for Mom's medication list, it was handwritten. Wynwood might suit a very strong, independent resident, but not my mom. I wished they communicated better when Mom was struggling. Also, they should change the visiting physician. That made a big difference for Mom's care.

"Quality of Care Declines Under New Management"
In the past year, Wynwood was taken over by Brookdale Senior Living, a big national company. I’ve heard from residents that life there has gotten worse since then. Brookdale is spending a lot of money on looks, but they are cutting staff or their hours. Because of this, residents don’t get the care they pay for in a timely manner. The staff often complain because they can’t give the care they used to. Even though the staff are generally responsive, there are too few of them per shift to take care of all the residents properly.

"When care is needed between assisted living and full nursing home"
My mom's been at Wynwood Niskayuna for a month. Her studio apartment is a good size. The place looks clean and smells nice. Staff is friendly, and aides help with daily tasks. Dining room is clean, with menu choices. I've had to watch to ensure contracted care. Advocacy matters.

"Initially the communication could have been better."
They offer some activities, but maybe they could have more. The rooms are a good size. At first, communication wasn't great; there were a few things that kept us from getting in when we wanted. It would have been easier if they had given us a heads up about how long certain tasks take. I talked to three or four different people, and it would have helped if one person had directed me to the right contact instead of leaving it to chance

"Additional Fees Add Up"
The place was clean and nice, but every extra thing got added to the bill separately. The price kept going up as she needed more things, and I didn't like that. We chose a community with all-inclusive pricing instead.

"More activities needed for assisted living facility residents"
This place is nice and encourages visits from family and friends. They make sure it looks good, which my mom and others appreciate. It's a bit pricey, especially the upfront charge for activities. There's not much variety, mainly just bingo. They should have more social events like a choir for everyone to enjoy.
