"Avoid This Assisted Living Facility: Disrespectful Staff & Careless Management."
A Place for Mom suggested this living facility to me. Despite my initial doubts, I trusted their high praise and gave it a chance. But it’s nothing like the glowing description given. Not a single skilled staff member is on hand daily. The assistants behave like nannies harbouring nothing but animosity and bitterness. Alas, they shout across the residents to converse with their colleagues, showing zero respect for the elderly in their care. There's a certain lack of empathy and help, which results in everyone being shuttled around without any sense of comfort. They don't welcome visitors for fear of exposing their terrible handling of the residents. All the wheelchair footrests are missing, causing residents to be dragged around and in the process, my mom's feet got injured. Rather than acknowledge their faults, they blatantly lie and place the blame on others, showing ZERO accountability. Please, please, keep away from this place.

"Maryville Assisted Living: Poor Care, Communication, and Nutrition"
Maryville was suggested by A Place for Mom, but boy, was I disappointed. It really looks worn out, which could've been overlooked if their caregiving was great. The owner may appear thoughtful, but is really a control freak. Try asking questions and you'll be labeled a troublemaker. They never take the blame for anything and don't communicate well. Don't expect them to give you doctors' details or any useful info. It's hard to know what's really going on. While some staff members do care, they seem untrained, more like babysitters than professional caregivers. They handle residents roughly, like sacks of potatoes, especially those in wheelchairs with feet carelessly dragging. The food is horrible and unhealthy, as are the snacks. Tight budgeting is painfully obvious. The only activities they offer are watching TV, reading and playing trivia. Residents spend most of their time in the living room with zero staff engagement. Visitors seem unwelcome because staff might need to be responsible. If you love your relatives, seek better options.

"Degraded Facility Offering Poor care and Broken Promises"
Aging facility, lack of training and proper care disappointing. Old furniture and busted items fill the space. There are only three caring aides who haven't received any proper training. There's no actual nurse in the building. Apparently, the owner's son does the fixing and the owner's daughter handles the finances. When they boast about their staff to patient ratio, they're counting everybody, even the cook. The patients are crammed into one tiny room with the TV blaring all day. They're roughly moved from their chair to their wheelchair and then bed. Entertainment is limited to bingo and ball games. The food is a disappointment - they say it's based on a menu, but it's not. Even a McDonald's meal would be an improvement. All the mobility aids are either handed down or donated. They can't even attach footrests to the wheelchairs and it's easier to just drag the patients around. Cleaning up accidents takes too long - half an hour to an hour. The whole place runs as per the owner's commands. It's heartbreaking to watch a loved one suffer in such unsafe conditions and I feel bad for believing the promises made by the owner. I suspect the good reviews were posted by the family and the staff themselves.

"Horrible Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
My family member was put in this assisted living facility and it was a poor experience. I was informed of my relative's passing in an insensitive manner; despite the fact, they were still alive. My family member experienced fear within this facility. The person in charge of the center stated that my relative wouldn't be missed when they were departing. My relative caught COVID, but the facility incorrectly labeled it as pneumonia. They were referring to a woman, , as a mere resident, yet she was actually a registered nurse practitioner.

"Great Assisted Living with Caring Staff and Cozy Environment"
As someone who works in senior living, I’m very careful about which communities I suggest to families looking for the best place for their loved ones. Maryville is an excellent choice. They provide outstanding care with a lot of warmth. The staff is very attentive, genuinely caring, and they go the extra mile to keep residents happy and healthy. The owner, [name removed], is frequently on-site and always ready to talk with family members. Their pricing covers personal care and medication management, which is helpful for families worried about increasing care needs. The community is always clean, and the rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. Overall, it’s a wonderful place for those needing more supervision and a higher staff-to-resident ratio in a cozy setting.

"Great care, clean, and welcoming highly recommend Maryville!"
I strongly recommend Maryville to anyone looking for great care in a homey setting. The staff are amazing they really care about the residents and their happiness. You can tell they love what they do. The place is spotless, well-decorated, and easy to get around since everything is on one floor. There’s a lovely courtyard, patio, and garden where residents can enjoy the outdoors. The rooms are spacious, nicely decorated, and very clean. The owner is also very involved, meeting and talking with families. It’s a wonderful, hidden gem in Huntington. You should definitely visit you won’t be let down!
