"Great Staff and Fun Activities at Harbor House"

Harbor House is a small place, so the staff knows all the residents. Activities like pet therapy and "concerts with Dave" are loved by everyone. They could do more simple things like BINGO. The staff is very nice to the residents and works hard!

"Assisted Living with Caring Staff and Affordable Options"

The helpers are awesome. They remember everyone's names and talk to the people who live here, which is really important to me. We chose this place because it's affordable, close to us, and they understood the things we were worried about with my mom's health.

"Highly recommended assisted living with friendly atmosphere."

We really like Oyster Bay Manor. My mom enjoys it, and others have said nice things about her. The atmosphere is friendly among residents and staff. I'd recommend it.

"Caring Staff and Policies Shine"

Your caring staff and resident experiences shine! Sharing birthday celebration pics and clarifying policies would be phenomenal. A suggestion, not criticism.

"Decline in Quality at Assisted Living Facility"

Ever since new management stepped in this past January, it feels like there’s hardly anything fun to do here anymore. The place isn’t what it used to be; it’s been getting worse. All the really great workers are quitting, and they’re not being replaced by anyone just as good.

"Feels Too Much Like an Institution"

Our family visited Oyster Bay Manor and Harbor House. It felt too much like a hospital for us. We decided it’s not the right place for someone we love.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

Initially, everything was wonderful. The place had a nice feel and lots of fun things to do. But, there have been many changes in the staff. The head nurse, who was fantastic, left. Lately, some residents got the flu, so now no one can leave the building. This has been tough on everyone. They say next month outings will start again, which is good. But with all the staff changes, things aren't the same. The caregivers should get more training for dementia care.

"Dark and Quiet Assisted Living Facility Tour Experience"

During our tour of Oyster Bay Manor, we noticed it needs updates. It felt dark and sad, with little activity and few people around. [Name removed], our guide, did great and followed up quickly, but it wasn't what we were looking for.

"Smaller, easy-to-navigate facility; distant location."

During the tour, I enjoyed Oyster Bay Manor's smaller, easy to navigate facility. However, we didn't choose it due to the distant location.

"Definitely not endorsing OBM community"

I really can't suggest this place. Stay away from OBM!

"Average facility with staged dementia care. No outdoor grounds."

Average facility with 3 floors for dementia stages; no outside grounds.

"Great care and activities for my wife"

I’m very pleased with the care my wife receives here. The community is clean, and the staff is excellent. She enjoys the variety of healthy meals and many activities with other residents. We strongly recommend this community for its great care and value.

"Cramped Manor with High Meds Cost and Unhandy Restroom Access"

The Oyster Bay Manor was nice and tidy but felt a bit cramped for my mom who's scared of enclosed spaces. The rooms are like ones you'd find in college dorms - small and somewhat gloomy. There are no kitchens, just space for a mini-fridge if you've got one, and no microwaves. The common spaces felt like an old aunt's home I remember fondly. It was overstuffed with furniture and felt a bit crowded. Currently, there are only about 36 people living there, and we wanted a place with more folks for my mom to socialize with. And the cost they charge for managing medications? It's double what other places ask for! The restrooms in the communal areas are always locked. You have to get a key from the reception each time you need to use them. That's not really practical for elderly people who may be in a hurry. Plus, I wasn't too pleased about seeing signs saying "Please don't throw diapers in the trash" displayed all over the shared spaces.

"Another Place We Checked Out"

I had no issues with the tour I took. They offered me a meal or snack, but I didn’t need it. The community was fine, it just wasn’t the right fit for us.

"Father Thriving in New Community!"

My dad feels great since moving here. Food's good, attends meals, enjoys activities. Nurses are caring, helpful, and ensure his comfort and happiness.

"Highly recommend this caring and attentive assisted living facility!"

The staff at Harbor House was super caring and patient with my mom. They found ways to get her involved in activities, which is hard to do. They made sure all her medications were taken care of and handled all the paperwork for her long-term care policy. I would highly recommend them!

After thorough research, we chose Harbor House as the perfect memory facility for my husband. The owner, directors, and staff are professional, caring, and always available to answer questions. I appreciated being informed about medical events and social happenings. The attentive staff ensures consistent care. I'm filled with praise and thankfulness for Harbor House.

"Assisted Living Review: Cozy Rooms, Great Care at Harbor House"

This place has awesome medical care around the clock. But, the rooms for two people are super tiny. You don't need to worry about extra charges because the cost covers everything. It's all modern and kept super clean. Everyone living here seems busy with fun activities. The only downside is that there aren't many rooms available. So, sometimes people have to stay on a different floor than they're supposed to. They get taken to the right floor for activities, though.

"Great Experience with a Few Minor Hiccups"

So far, it's been pretty good. My mom turned 80 recently, and they decorated her room and threw her a party. She had a great time. The only problem we had was some things getting lost, but they found most of them and fixed the issue.

"Good events, wish for more physical activities"

I like that Harbor House has many events. I just wish some of the activities were more physical to help them move and get some exercise. Overall, it’s been a really good experience.

"Harbor House: Caring and Professional Staff, Best Choice for Dad"

We visited many places, but Harbor House felt the best. The staff are professional and very caring. We felt like my father would be in good hands.

"Great care, great place!"

They've done an amazing job at Harbor House! This place is really great! They always do what they say, and even more! The building looks nice, and the staff is really good. I like that they have different levels of memory care, so people with similar needs are together. The only downside is that it's a bit expensive, but they provide excellent care for the price.

"The people there were great."

Harbor House is a very nice place with kind, caring people. Overall, I felt positive. Unfortunately, my father-in-law needed more care than they could offer. He passed away shortly thereafter. But the people there were really great.

"Friendly staff, good food, nice place overall!"

Things have been going great at Oyster Bay Manor! My loved one seems really happy here. The staff is friendly, professional, and always willing to help. The place looks nice, and even the food is good—my relatives who’ve tried it all liked it!

"No ALP Program, Not Worth It"

Was told they had an ALP program, but they don’t. Private pay costs the same as Bristal, so not worth moving here.

"Friendly, attentive, and confident staff"

The staff has done a great job here, and we’re very happy with them! They are all really nice and pay attention to Mom's needs most of the time. They are confident in the care they provide and have no problem suggesting changes that could help.

"Needs More Supervision and Better Activities"

They needed more supervision. It was very disappointing because there wasn’t much going on, and it wasn’t suited for people with dementia. They didn’t do much with the residents. There was no place for the residents to sit and talk, which was really lacking. They did care for the residents, but there were no good activities. There was nowhere to walk and nowhere to go. There was only one small area to watch TV or play games. The activities were very basic and repetitive with no variety. Some patients needed more help, but they didn’t get it. They didn’t know how to handle residents with dementia. This place might be okay for people who are more independent and active. They charged us extra $30 a day for a shower, no matter how many showers you took, and $20 extra for meds. It ended up being more expensive than a much nicer community we moved to.

"More expensive but preferred due to nicer, roomier setting"

They cost more than the one we picked, but it was my first choice. I really liked that they were nicer and had more space than where he is now.

"Seems nice and well organiz..."

The facility appears nice, well-organized, and caring while awaiting ALP bed.

"Friendly Staff and Clean Facilities"

I really liked this place. The staff was friendly, and everything was clean and well-maintained. The only thing I’d suggest improving is the meal planning.
