Promenade at Chestnut Ridge

"Disappointed with Care and Cleanliness at Living Facility"
How do I even begin? This place isn’t clean enough, they’ve lost medical papers, and they’re not quick to give the needed physical therapy. We don’t have a choice but to stay for the moment. On the bright side, my Mom’s got the best room here. It’s got to be, considering what it costs every month. And, the meals aren’t great either.

"Higher Cost, Fewer Amenities: Apts vs. Five Star"
The place was really nice, but the apartments don’t have a kitchen. They only have a small fridge and a sink, like a college dorm room. Also, the cheaper apartments don’t have a sitting area. Overall, it’s pricier than Five Star Premier Residence of Yonkers.

"Mixed feelings about assisted living community"
When we went to check out this place, it looked pretty nice. The person who showed us around was really nice. They do have transportation and some cool stuff here.

"Expensive care despite nice facility and friendly staff, worth considering."
We toured this place mainly checking the cost and care. It's nice and staff are all friendly. But the care and meds cost along with monthly fee were too high.

My father is doing great at this community. He’s adjusted well, and I’m happy. The location is convenient, and it’s a clean, friendly place where he’s with peers his age. Overall, it’s been a positive experience for us.

"Worth considering for loved ones."
We visited Promenade at Chestnut Ridge while exploring care options for a loved one. It felt nice overall, though not as fancy as some other places. The tour guide was helpful, and the facility seemed well managed. Worth considering!

"Affordable, well-run assisted living facility; worth considering."
We went to visit Promenade at Chestnut Ridge to check out options for taking care of a family member, and I felt it was a pretty nice place overall. I got a good feeling about it. It wasn't super fancy like some others we checked out, but it also didn't cost as much. The person who showed us around knew a lot and was helpful, and the place just seemed to be managed well in general. I think it's worth taking a look!

" "Elder Care Facility: Exorbitant Fees, Negligent Care""
This place, which has swapped names more times than anyone can keep track of, has done nothing but disappoint while it went by Esplanade and then Promenade. Figuring out if it's managed by the same people is a puzzle. The folks on the bottom of the pay scale were okay, but language issues kept them from really helping the residents. As for the higher-up staff and nurses, I can't figure out why they're even there. They won't even deal with a bleeding cut, they just let it get worse, send people to the hospital, and don't bother doing simple fixes like putting ointment on sores. The bosses are the worst of the bunch, they only care about filling their pockets. It's a real blight on places that care for older folks. The big-shot owners in sunny Boca Raton and Palm Springs just tell their crews to charge all they can, and they do. It's a shame the government folks who are supposed to oversee these places only see the fancy decorations and couldn't care less about the actual care the residents get. In short, there's no one making sure these elder care places are doing real good. It's just a giant swamp of overcharging, and the real losers are the people lovingly forking over heaps of cash and the residents being neglected.

"Pretty Name, Ugly Practice: High Costs, Low Care at Assisted Living"
This place has changed its name so many times, it's hard to say if the same people still run it. Back when it was the Esplanade and then the Promenade, the service was really lacking. The lowest level workers did okay, but because of language issues, they couldn't really help the folks living there much. But the higher-ups and the nurses? That was a totally different story. I don't even get why they have nurses. They won't deal with a bleeding cut and risk it getting infected, then just ship people off to the hospital. They won't even help residents by putting ointment on sore scabs. And don't get me started on the administration. All they care about is money and how to squeeze you for every penny. This kind of thing is killing the senior care business. The big bosses sit in their luxury homes in Boca Raton and Palm Springs, telling the people they hire to bill as much as they can, as often as they can. And the sad part is the government offices who are supposed to watch over places like this and make sure they're doing right, they don't care as long as the building looks nice. They don't give a hoot about the care that the residents get. There's no real oversight for this business. It's a huge scam and the poor families just keep shelling out money, while the people living there suffer.

"Solid care with friendly staff, activities, and Medicaid support."
This place is nice and clean, and my mom gets good care there. She feels very safe, which is important to me. The staff is friendly and helpful. There was an ant problem in my mom's bathroom, but they fixed it quickly. They offer plenty of activities, but my mom isn't interested. They have sing-alongs and current events reading, but she's 90 and says, "I don't want to hear about all the horrible things going on in the world." She enjoys bingo and playing games with kids who visit. It's been hard for my mom to adjust, but she's getting great care. I'd recommend this place to anyone. They accommodate in every way. My mom is picky about food, but she likes the soup. She loves her aides, especially Donna. A Place for Mom was helpful in finding this place, and they also told me they accept Medicaid. There's a support group once a month with the social worker, which I find helpful.

"There is so many wonderful things I want to say."
This place is nice, clean, and mom gets good care. Staff is friendly and helpful. Ant problem was quickly resolved. Many activities offered, although mom doesn't participate much. They encourage interaction, which is helpful. Mom struggled to adjust but receives top-level care. Highly recommended, accommodating in every way. Mom is picky about food but likes the soup. She loves her two aides. A Place for Mom was incredibly helpful. Promenade accepts Medicaid. Support group available monthly. So many positive things to say.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
I visited this place, and the rooms looked really nice. The staff we met seemed friendly. When my loved one wasn't feeling well during the visit, the nurse accurately diagnosed her. However, the bathroom I used was dirty, though the rest of the place seemed clean. We didn't pick it mainly because of the location and not feeling quite right about it.

"Nice Place, Wrong Location"
I visited this place, and the rooms were really nice. The staff we met seemed friendly. When my loved one felt unwell, the nurse accurately diagnosed her. The bathroom I used was dirty, but overall, it felt clean. We didn't choose this place mainly due to its location; it just didn't feel right.

"Food, Activities, and Restrictions"
The food isn't good. She didn't enjoy activities much, though many were available. Lots of folks stayed in their rooms. The place was well kept, really nice. But the director seemed a bit snappy. They said no to a microwave, claiming it's the law, but I checked and it's not.

"Mixed Feelings: Assisted Living Facility Review"
This place was kind of quirky. I think it's the one with special Jewish food, but they didn't seem interested, even though they're Jewish. They had a medical service outside, but we worried about what they could do and how much it might cost.

"Not Their Best Fit"
This place had a quirky vibe. It's where they served kosher food, but even though the residents were Jewish, they didn't want to try it. We also worried about the cost of their outside medical services.

"Assisted living facility provided more time and better care."
My dad got more help here than at other places. Assisted living can cost a lot, but it felt like they spent more time with him and took better care of him. He liked the activities they had, and it was cheaper than the Sunrise we checked out.
