"Small Assisted Living with Great Staff, But Food Concerns"
The activities director, [name removed], is amazing. Some aides are okay, but the nurses and managers are great! The best thing is the small size—only 45 residents—so they give personal care. The activities coordinator is wonderful and goes beyond. The nurse in charge, [name removed], is knowledgeable, efficient, and kind. The front desk staff are also kind and skilled. The only downside is the food. It could be better for residents with health issues. Maybe if they were more selective, it’d cost more, but many of us would prefer that.

"Not Ideal: Mixed Feelings About Rosewood on the Sound"
Rosewood on the Sound was kind of gloomy and not very cheerful. It's small if that's what you're into. They had a big room with a toilet, but the shower was down the hall. They didn't let you have a mini fridge in your room, and they didn't want you eating there either. Also, it was hard to get to since it's in Bayville, which is pretty out of the way. I guess whether you like it or not depends on your preferences and what the person you're taking care of needs. Like, my car guy put his father-in-law there and seems okay with it.

"More activities needed, but caring staff at Rosewood on the Sound"
The workers at Rosewood on the Sound really pay attention to the people who live there and their families. However, I believe they should offer more things to do for the people in memory care.

"Great Assisted Living Experience"
My mom’s been here a few months, and it’s been amazing. The staff is friendly, the room is spacious, and she’s made friends. Highly recommend!

"Terrible Care Facility with Bored Residents and No Help"
The lady who guided us around did a nice job. However, the facility was just awful - I wouldn't think of putting someone I care about there. The lack of activities was pretty obvious. Help from the staff was also noticeably missing. Even worse, the people living there were just sitting around, bored and unengaged.

"Unsatisfactory Management and Inadequate Staff at Rosewood Assisted Living"
As a previous Occupational Therapist who regularly visited Rosewood twice weekly for my patients, I found the operations extremely disappointing. Comparing it to the numerous other places I operate out of, it's clearly badly managed. The staff seems unenthusiastic and a lot of them struggle to communicate in English. The management seems entirely unaware, likely because they lack appropriate training for their administrative roles.

"Facility Receives Positive Recommendation Amid COVID Concerns"
We haven't been able to visit the facility due to COVID, so it's tough to judge. I'd like better communication, but their response time seems quick. When I've FaceTimed with my loved one, she appears well taken care of. She's received both vaccines, and overall, I'd recommend this facility considering the pandemic.

"Inadequate Care and Poor Conditions at Assisted Living Facility"
My mom currently stays here and I'm making efforts to find her a better place, but with Covid19, it's challenging to tour new sites. The level of care here leaves a lot to be desired. They're understaffed and they rely on an LPN who only works part-time rather than a full-time registered nurse. The rooms are always messy and overdue for a remodel. The dining area is perpetually dirty with food waste on the floor. The residents barely touch their food because there's no one assisting them. The staff even give out night-time medication during dinner so the residents sleep early and they can avoid taking care of them. Moreover, it's tough to communicate with the staff because their English is poor.

"Inadequate Care Leads to Repeated Hospital Trips at Facility"
My mom lived here and got truly terrible care. I was fortunate to be able to move her somewhere she's safe. She was only there for 2 weeks and was rushed to the hospital because of a UTI. No one ever helped her to the restroom; they just allowed the residents to stay in their diapers, which is why they used two or three at once. After she left the hospital, she was back when she had a large bruise above her eye and a concussion. Nobody knew how it happened. Then, after that hospital visit, she caught the flu at the facility and had to return to the hospital. So, even though she lived there for a year, she spent more time in a hospital or treatment center. Look for a care facility elsewhere.

"Neglectful, Dirty Facility Overmedicates Residents"
My dad stayed at this place for a year, but thankfully, he could tell us how bad it was. I lived in Florida and then moved back to New York. I started visiting him daily and had him transferred somewhere better. Sadly, the other folks living there aren't so lucky. The place is really filthy and they give the residents too much medicine, making them totally out of it.

"Poor Staffing and Sanitation at Assisted Living Facility"
My mom stayed at this assisted living home for about a year until I had her transferred because of the poor-quality care she received. Despite having only 44 people living there, there were not enough workers to help out. And, there were no actual medical professionals present, just a med tech handing out their medicines. You'd often see most of the residents sitting around, appearing overly medicated, probably because there weren't any activities for them besides watching the never-ending TV. The rooms always looked dirty, and the shared bathrooms especially needed a good cleaning. This was confusing because you'd see a cleaner mopping the floors constantly.

"Unfulfilled Promises and Unattended Residents Plague Assisted Living Facility"
I had my mom in this place for four months. During that time, I found out they never followed through on the things they said they would when we visited and ended up deciding to put my mom here. I would suggest looking at other options. Residents just seem to hang about all day and it's like they're on tranquilizers so they're not a bother.

"Disappointing care at Dad's Assisted Living breaks our trust"
My dad stayed here before sadly leaving us this year and this place was honestly not great. There was a noticeable absence of staff and minimal activities to keep the residents engaged; just folks idling about. My father required special medical attention due to his diabetic condition and although they assured us they could handle his needs, unfortunately, they couldn't. He had a persistent leg wound that should've been attended to daily but it wasn't. On top of that, no professional healthcare was present on-site, only med techs tasked with medication distribution. Should any medical emergencies arise, a doctor visits fortnightly. I truly wish we had chosen a different facility.

"Health Worker Advises Against Poorly Managed Assisted Living Facility"
I'm a health care worker and I've been visiting this home for years. The way they treat the people living here is way below what it should be. I'm writing this review because I won't be seeing the residents here anymore because I'm joining another home. The residents here can't even get any good out of physical therapy because they're given too many pills to follow any directions. There aren't enough staff members taking care of them. There are absolutely no activities despite there being a person hired specifically to plan activities. Please think about having your family members stay somewhere else.

"Assisted Living Facility Needs Major Clean-up and Renovation"
The best thing about this assisted living facility was its location by Long Island Sound. The interior common area was dim, as were the bedrooms. You could see cigarette butts in the outdoor garden space that looked like they had been there for quite a while. All in all, it seems like the place could do with some serious updating and cleaning.

"Unpleasant Smell and Neglected Residents at Assisted Living Facility"
I could hardly finish the tour because the smell was terrible. The people living there were messy and disconnected. It's a dreadful place and there's no way I'd put my mom in a place like this.

"Very Unimpressed with Aunt's Assisted Living Facility"
For two years, my aunt's been stuck in this place and I absolutely can't stand it. I only pop in on weekends, but it's so depressing. Everyone's always just snoozing in their wheelchairs, no one ever does anything. Maybe something happens during the week, but I wouldn't know.

"Understaffed and Dirty, Not Recommended"
My aunt has lived here for two years and it's definitely not well-staffed. The cleanliness leaves much to be desired. Also, the activity options, particularly on weekends, are pretty meh. Most folks here, as far as I can see, just sit around and snooze. The only reason she stays is because of the price.

"Great care and activities!"
We are happy with the care from this community. The staff is caring, but sometimes they seem to be understaffed. The menu is very good, and they offer nice meals. The activities are great for residents who can join in with others. We recommend this community for its good care. They had what we were looking for.

"Everything is Working Out Pretty Well For Us Here"
I really like this community, and my mother-in-law is doing very well. I know she is safe and being cared for well. The staff is lovely and great to work with. Every time I visit, the community looks great, and my mother-in-law looks nice; they do a good job with her personal care. If I knew anybody needing this type of care, I would recommend this community. It's lovely.

"Mom feels at home here."
My mom has been at Rosewood on the Sound for two years now, and she has made great progress. She was at another place before coming here, and the biggest difference is what you can’t see. I chose this facility because it has fewer residents. The care is as close to home as it can get. Everyone, really everyone, goes out of their way to help the residents. I watch when no one knows, and I feel good knowing my mom is in a place where I can relax. The owners are involved, and the staff is top-notch. If you need to, you can call me.

"Loved Jones Manor, but Found a Better Fit"
We really liked Jones Manor on the Sound. However, we discovered a more affordable and convenient facility. It felt cozy and homey there, with fewer residents. We wished it had better fencing so Mom could explore the grounds more. She loves being outside. The person who gave us the tour was very nice. Overall, we loved this facility, but we chose a different one that suited us better.

"Beware: Jones Manor Is Not The Best Choice For Dementia"
I looked into 5 different homes and ended up picking Jones Manor in Bayville, Long Island for my Dad. I thought it was going to be the perfect place for him and his dementia. Wow, was I mistaken about our pick! Just remember, you get what you pay for...there are much better options to consider for your loved one.

"Not Really a Fan of This Community"
When my family and I were exploring care options for our dear one, we checked out this community. Honestly, I wasn't really wowed by what I noticed there. It wasn't the bottom of the barrel we saw, but it definitely wasn't a place I'd think about for my family member.

"Welcoming Facility, but Concerns Over Shared Bathroom."
It felt welcoming and upbeat. However, the idea of 4 elderly folks having to share one bathroom was off-putting. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to converse with any residents. It was a plus that everything was on one level – no stairs or elevators needed. For now, I'm sizing it up as 3 stars until I explore further.
