"Incredible Sunrise Staff Assists in Comfortable Transition for Dad"
Man, we're really happy with the nurses and helpers at Sunrise. They were great and got my dad moved into a really supportive community, which he totally needed at this time in his life. Thanks a lot!

"Excellent Care and Activities at Sunrise at Sheepshead Bay"
You actually receive value for your money here. I've checked out lower-cost places and didn't like them much. Sunrise at Sheepshead Bay is neat, full of energy, and they take great care of the folks living there. The people are well-looked after and always have fun things to do. I put my thumbs up for this place.

"Dissatisfied With Assisted Living Facility Despite Some Positives"
I'm really bugged by their daily activities and trips. The food here is just okay, even though they have decent pork meals. They do clean my space but overall, I'm not really having a great time here.

"Appreciation for Extraordinary Assisted Living Experience"
This worst year and three months of living here turned out to be my best ones. I truly enjoyed their fun and innovative activities. And it's comforting to know that high-quality medical staff members are just right there on site to ensure safety.

"Great Assisted Living Facility, Can't Afford Continued Care"
Despite loving it there, my mom couldn't stay at the awesome Sunrise of Sheepshead Bay Assisted Living Facility. It's just too bad they only accepted private pay. At some point, my mom needed extra help that we just couldn't afford there anymore. In my view though, it's a truly great place!

I finally got my family member admitted here. They notice what's happening and work hard to include my family member in activities. Other families should consider this place, and I've told them so.

"Great place but doesn't accept insurance"
We had a look around this place and thought it was really nice. My mom, who prefers traditional things, really loved the welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. We liked it most among all, though they only accept direct payment and don't deal with insurance. We definitely would've chosen this place for mom if they'd accepted insurance.

"Underwhelming Care and Overcharges at Assisted Living Facility"
Most of the workers are really kind and caring. But my aunt often says she's bored because there isn't much to do, probably because of the pandemic. The dining area looks very nice, always set up with glassware and table cloths. However, my aunt doesn't always like the food. I also don't think they properly change her meals for her health issues. She has diabetes and high blood pressure, yet they sometimes give her food she shouldn't eat. I'm often disappointed with the medical care she gets. As for the price, we were told it would be less than it turned out.

"Great Assisted Living Facility, Quickly Becomes Unaffordable "
My mom started here in a basic care level. She had a shared apartment, which was awesome. Both ladies had their private bedroom and bathroom with a secure, nice shower. It was a good deal, but as she needed more help with everyday stuff, the cost climbed up fast. It got too expensive when we had to pay on our own. I wish we could have managed to keep her there. Even so, I rate Sunrise Of Sheepshead Bay Assisted Living as top-notch. They played awesome music too! The best part about this home is how well they keep in touch with families. They really keep an eye on their residents' wellbeing. The staff seem like they really love their work. The place is also welcoming, open, and bright. It has calm colors and lovely decor.

"High Praise for Care Lowered by Cost Increase"
Contrary to our good experiences, there's been a snag. They've taken really good care of my Dad and stepmom. Now, my Dad's in this thing they call 'Reminiscence,' memory care. The people here are just so nice to him; they're kind and respectful. We feel confident knowing he's safe and they're looking after him. We owe the Reminiscence crew a big thank you, they're true stars. But, there's a downside, the price hike, otherwise, would've given them 5 stars.

"Exceptional Care and Warm Atmosphere at Sunrise of Sheepshead Bay"
If you're looking for a place for your elderly parent, you know this can be a difficult search. But let me tell you, the search stops at Sunrise of Sheepshead Bay. Our mom instantly fell in love with it the moment she received a warm welcome. The staff's attentiveness, specifically the Coordinator and the skilled nurses, is commendable. There are many nice folks who work behind the scenes and keep things running smoothly. The food's great, and the place has a vibrant, clean, and comfortable atmosphere. We rest easy knowing our mother is never alone. She's made friends and gets involved in a variety of fun activities managed by caring professionals. She enjoys her morning walks with one particular staff member. He always tells me how much he adores his job. Mom is clearly receiving all the care she needs. We greatly appreciate everyone at Sunrise of Sheepshead Bay for all they do.

"Positive Feedback: Mother Thriving in Sunrise's Resort-Like Environment"
My mom has been at Sunrise for nearly 5 years. This place has gifted her a great and joyful new stage in her life. She loves her incredible apartment there, the food is to her liking, and the staff treat her as part of their own family. We couldn't hope for a better place for mom to prosper. She enjoys walking around the Harbor area and checking out nearby restaurants and shops. Transitioning to living at Sunrise was smooth for her, and she usually says when asked about her wellbeing - "It feels like I'm in a holiday resort, like a permanent vacation." She's made lots of friends. Although enduring the Covid lockdown was tough wherever you were, she remained safe and contented.

"Elegant Facility Falls Short on Advanced Care Needs"
My loved one struggled at this lovely, but ill-equipped facility. They told me they could handle his sundowning condition, assuring me of their capabilities despite the extra payment. Nonetheless, within a month's time, he fell four times, landing in the hospital with the last fall. The place is beautiful and well-maintained, but they fell short on delivering the promised care. Post his shift, I had to battle for the refund due during his hospital stay. The more independent residents appeared content and thrived, but for those needing more assistance, I wouldn't recommend it.

"Facility Fails to Meet Expectations, Abandons Dementia Patient"
At first, Sunrise Senior Living in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn seemed helpful. But, as soon as my mom started showing behavior they didn't expect, they sent her to the hospital. They kept saying it would be fine for three weeks. But then, they decided she wasn't a good fit and left her at the hospital. They didn't help her anymore or even say sorry. I don't think they're ready to take care of people with dementia like they say they are. They ask for a lot of money but can't give what they promised.

"Improving Nighttime Access for Assisted Living Residents"
Great job with the services! The only thing to improve is making it easier for residents (and their families) to get into the building at night. Last Saturday, three groups of people tried to get in, and it took too long for someone to open the door. Recommendation: Ensure a reliable, safe, and secure system for entering at night. It should be simple for residents and families to enter at night, not hard.

"Recommended Assisted Living Experience"
My grandma stayed at Sunrise Sheepshead Bay for a few months. It was comforting to see they could adjust to her needs, even arranging hospice care. Unlike other places, they offer lots of nursing care, so she didn't have to move again. The food was good, and so was the help in the dining room once I asked for more assistance. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'd suggest it to other families.

"Great Guide, Room for Improvement"
Thomas was a great guide. The place is in a good location, near restaurants, shopping, and a promenade along Emmons Ave with views of the Bay. The kitchenette has a non-working oven/stove, which seems like a waste of space. It would be better to have a smaller fridge and use the extra space for storage. The apartment was bright with a view of the water. They have a van, which is a great asset, but the outings only stay in Brooklyn and don't explore the City at all. I'm not sure if the activities are for the "hip" clients or the older mindset. However, it's a nice, clean building with renovations in progress, and they're adding Wi-Fi, so I hope computer classes will follow! It's definitely a possibility for Dad.

"Mom is safe and content"
I was worried about finding the right place for my mom. From the moment we walked into Sunrise, we felt welcome and comfortable. The staff was friendly, and it didn't feel fake. The residents seemed happy and were busy with different activities. Mom got a nice studio apartment that we decorated with things from home. This decision wasn't easy, especially with my siblings and me living out of state. I wanted to make sure Mom was safe but still independent, and Sunrise has provided that. Now, we have peace of mind. When I visit, Mom is always cheerful and jokes around with staff and other residents. I couldn't have made a better choice.

"Great care and activities at Sunrise at Sheepshead Bay for Dad"
We moved my dad to Sunrise at Sheepshead Bay Reminiscence Neighborhood, and we are really happy with the care he gets there. The staff is friendly, caring, and professional. The place is bright and cheerful with lots of natural light. My dad loves the outdoor atrium where he can sit and watch the marine and waterfront activities. The activities director works with my dad to set up activities he enjoys. There’s always something happening to keep the residents engaged. Even though my dad's health has been getting worse, the staff is very attentive to his needs. The care managers are kind and seem to really enjoy working with the residents. I feel better knowing my dad is in a good place that meets his needs.

"Safe, caring staff make it perfect for our loved one."
Sunrise at Sheepshead Bay was a huge help for us. We were unsure of what to do until we spoke with Erica from "A Place for Mom." When we toured the facility, we knew it was perfect for my 97-year-old mother-in-law. After a month, she’s happy and feels safe. The staff are very nice and caring. They work with love.

"Happy with Sunrise at Sheepshead Bay, mom is thriving!"
It’s been two months since my mother moved to Sunrise at Sheepshead Bay. She has memory issues and wasn’t eating well or taking her meds regularly before moving. She also wasn’t socializing like she used to. The location is great; when the weather is nice, she can walk to nearby stores, restaurants, or just enjoy the beautiful avenue. It's also convenient for visitors. The facility is clean, well-decorated, and the staff are friendly and caring. They helped her adjust to living there. At Sunrise, she can be as independent as possible but gets help when needed. My mother is doing well, taking her meds, eating healthy food, and she says she’s very happy. They have daily activities and trips for shopping and culture a few times a month. I've talked to other families, and everyone is very pleased with Sunrise.
