"Dissatisfactory Staff and Services at Sunrise of Dix Hills"

Sunrise of Dix Hills is not commendable at all. The staff members, whether they're care managers, nurses, housekeepers, or dining staff, hardly pay attention. They claim to have various activities every single day, but truthfully, they don't cater to everyone's interest. Their communication is sub-standard, as we never felt included in necessary updates. [Name removed], the Director of Sales, specially, falls short of impressing. She rarely goes out of her call of duty to assist.

"Great Place For Senior Living But Needs More Activities & Better Food"

Overall, my mom and dad live at Sunrise of Dix Hills and we like it a lot. The place is way cleaner than when they first moved in. Anytime there's a problem, the staff handles it right away. They're all super friendly too, especially the ladies greeting us at the entrance. They talk to me a lot about how my dad's doing, which I appreciate. Whenever I need help with my parents, the staff is there to support me. They're really good to us, including the physical therapist, nurses, and REM aide. There's also a guy who does a great job deep cleaning rooms - we really value his work. One drawback is the food in REM doesn't look very good. But when we eat at the bistro, it's far better. The place really needs someone to plan activities. We urgently need someone who can keep the residents busy and happy. If I have to complain, it's that living here with two of my folks costs a fortune. While I feel safe knowing they're being well looked after, it's still a lot of cash. We need more engaging daily activities for the residents. She told me it's hard to find the right person for this job. Hopefully, it'll be fixed soon. Also, REM's food could be better.

"Heartwarming Welcome and Great Service at Sunrise at Dix Hills"

On December 12, 2023, we had an excellent welcome lunch to celebrate our mother moving into Sunrise at Dix Hills. ris Everyone was friendly and went out of their way to help us. We had a scrumptious lunch served by our waiter, he . He clearly explained the menu to us, took our order without a hitch, and served our meals promptly. Our mom was absolutely delighted with the warm and unique welcome at Sunrise.

"A Delightful Five Year Stay at Sunrise Assisted Living Facility"

I've been a resident at Sunrise for more than five years, and I couldn't be happier. I suspect that anyone who comes here would feel the same way. If I could, I'd go above and beyond giving just 5 stars. The employees here are fantastic. I love taking part in all the on-site and off-site activities they arrange.

"Very Unhappy With Quality of Care at Sunrise Dix Hills"

My mom stays at Sunrise Dix Hills and we're not happy at all about it. The workers there aren't nice, they always seem unhelpful and not capable of doing their job right. We also don't hear about my mom's health or feelings often. Putting my mom in this place was really tough for me, and after seeing it these past three months, I regret it since she's not getting proper care.

"Satisfaction Mixed With Regret At Mom's Assisted Living Facility"

Even though the cost was steep, the services offered - including our family's relief - made it worthwhile. The staff was supportive and kind, and we were glad to see many daily activities available for the residents. My sister and I found solace in the environment and our only regret was not moving our mom here earlier (sadly, she passed away after just three weeks in their care).

"Polished Review: Top-Tier Assisted Living Facility with Superior Staff and Services"

My father smoothly transitioned into this place, thanks to their dedicated and attentive team (their high-quality service has never wavered). He relishes the daily fitness class and dining experience as the staff really understand each resident's preferences. The people there are all amicable and the nurses and caregivers are impressive. Communication with them is never a hurdle, be it in person or through mail. To top it all off, the facility is set amidst splendid landscape, complete with a lovely walkway. Ample car parking is available too. I specifically want to mention who helped manage all our queries and paperwork in relation to Dad's move from rehab. We are extremely grateful to A Place for Mom for their support throughout. After helping us comprehend the concept of "enhanced care", they truly paid heed to our concerns about what we felt would best suit Dad. The task of visiting and selecting a home can be daunting but she advice and proficiency came as a huge relief.

"Highly Recommended Assisted Living Facility"

My mom is happy over there. She likes the activities a lot. She's also fond of her roommate. Considering our experience to date, we'd suggest other families to try Sunrise of Dix Hills.

"Exceptional Assisted Living Facility with Outstanding Care and Services"

This assisted living home couldn't be more perfect. My mother is totally happy there, we're also glad, and the people there really go the extra mile. The place isn't too packed. Mom really enjoys the meals and all the activities. I'm honestly all about this place. The workers are really lovely, alert, and genuine with everyone living there. I've gotten to know everyone, from those cooking up meals to the folks running the place, and they've all been brilliant. Everyone's fully engaged. It's just an amazing spot, I can't push for them enough.

"Great Staff and Care at New Assisted Living Facility"

My family member moved here from another place and so far, it's been great. There are lots more helpers here, which has really improved our family member's care - if she needs anything, someone is always there to help right away. Sure, it costs more, but they give the extra care our family member needs. Overall, she seems really happy.

"Appalling Experience at Sunrise of Dix Hills"

We picked Sunrise of Dix Hills for mom and we detest it. Our experience is far from satisfactory. The staff is dreadful and the whole time has been heartbreaking.

"Super Happy with Mom's New Home, Sunrise of Dix Hills"

We're really glad our Mom lives at Sunrise of Dix Hills. Everyone there is super nice and knows what they're doing. We met staff, the guy who's in charge of fixing stuff and he showed us different rooms. We picked one of the first rooms he showed us and we couldn't be happier. It's clean and has a lot of space. The salesperson was also really nice and patient. Mom is always busy with lots of daily stuff to do and she's made friends quickly! We totally made the right choice!

"Satisfied with Mom's Care During Covid at Sunrise Senior Living"

My Mom has been staying at Sunrise Senior Living at Dix Hills for nearly two years now. She became a resident at the start of the Covid pandemic in NY. Sunrise has shown great care and attention throughout this challenging time, and I am highly satisfied. With visitor restrictions due to Covid, the staff proved caring and considerate, understanding how tough it has been for the residents. They consistently work to keep the residents cheerful and make them feel valued. Mom genuinely appreciates the company of the Sunrise staff and her fellow residents.

"Sunrise Assisted Living provides good value but needs improvement"

A few workers at this elderly home act nicer to our family member than the rest, and it's a real steal for what we pay. We love how close Sunrise is to our house. Our loved one's room is incredible, she loves it. She got to decorate it to make it feel homey. We believe they need to improve on doing the laundry and taking out the trash regularly - sometimes they skip our loved one. However, we're happy with where she is in the end.

""Poor Supervision Leads to Broken Hip, Insufficient Medical Response""

I'd warn people that my family member fell and broke their hip at this place due to the lack of proper oversight. The workers there believed they could simply alleviate the pain and root cause by giving my family member Tylenol. I was forced to demand a doctor come to the facility to figure out what was causing my relative's agony. They are no longer there.

"Neat Facility with Kind Staff but Needs Better Meals"

The place was tidy and the workers were generally kind. The meals, however, were subpar and could be better. Still, I'd suggest this facility for others.

"Friendly but Expensive Facility with Room for Improvement"

This place is a bit pricier than others. They do provide good care services, though. We appreciated the friendly folks on our initial visit. The community has a home-like feel which is really nice. But the rooms could use a bit of sprucing up. The food, thankfully, met our loved one's tastes just fine. The big issue here is the cost - there seem to be a lot of extra fees.

""Highly Recommend Sunrise of Dix Hills""

Sunrise of Dix Hills was better than the rest we checked out. The rooms are really big. The food's good and there's lots to choose from. I'd tell my friends and family to check out Sunrise of Dix Hills.

"Understaffing and Low Activities Level at Sunrise Assisted Living"

Sunrise of Dix Hills was always spotless and the majority of staff were warm and welcoming, though a few weren't as friendly. My mom, who started in the regular wing, was later shifted to the memory care section. We had to hire additional professionals from outside as we felt the facility's staff didn't provide the attention she required, which we attributed to understaffing. When compared to her previous living community, the activities at Sunrise weren't up to the mark. She'd complain of boredom and lack of intellectual challenge. The food wasn't impressive either and the cost seemed high for the amount and quality of care and services provided.

"Elderly Parent Neglected in Assisted Living Amidst Coronavirus Outbreak"

My father has been living in utter loneliness for approximately a month and a half. Recently, he relayed to me that eight individuals in the facility have tragically passed away from COVID-19, an event that no one bothered to communicate to his family. The owners of the facility are completely negligent, a trait that, in my opinion, characterizes most managers in the assisted living industry. They have reduced the care for my father down to merely delivering his meals and leaving them unattended in his kitchen. No provision of physical activity or any form of communication with him is carried out. Even with a slight impairment in his cognitive functions, my dad remains extensively observant and assertively declares that the staff is unkind towards the elderly people living there. The woman who works the front desk consistently displays a poor attitude. It's high time she considers retirement. I'd rather see her experience the kind of mistreatment she inflicts on others. It's become evident that suffering a merciless death would be a more humane fate than enduring the conditions in these ill-managed homes.

"Great Place with Friendly Staff"

The facility is really nice, and the staff are very friendly. I’ll definitely think about it.

"Fantastic Assisted Living Facility with Great Atmosphere and Care"

I was really impressed by how clean it was, the cheerful vibe, the layout, the activities list, and the house dog, which I loved. The residents looked happy and well taken care of. Patty was very helpful, answered all my questions in detail, and gave competitive pricing based on my mom’s needs.

"Not Quite Mom’s Place, But Nice Amenities!"

I didn’t have any problems during my tour of this community. The staff arrived on time for our appointment and answered all our questions. The property was clean, and they had fantastic amenities for the residents. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the right fit for my mom in the end.

"Great for Residents Who Want to Be Here"

I think this place is good for someone who wants to live here. But I don't think the staff can handle people who don't want to be here and need more care. They have daily activities. The place is clean, well-kept, and the staff are nice.

"Friendly, cheerful place for Mom"

My mom moved into the Remembrance memory care community a couple of weeks ago. She’s still getting used to it, which is normal. The care is really good, and she seems to get along well with her care managers. The staff is helpful, friendly, and truly cares about her. The place is bright and cheerful, and I hope she’ll join some activities once she feels more comfortable.

"Great care for everyone!"

This is an excellent community. The food is delicious and has a nice variety. They offer many activities to join in. The staff members are outstanding. I would recommend this place for great overall care for anyone.

I was really happy with our tour of the community. The staff was warm and welcoming, and everyone seemed happy to be there. My loved one is seriously thinking about moving to Sunrise of Dix Hills.

"Mixed Reactions to Sunrise's Assisted Living Facilities"

After staying at Sunrise, we have both good and bad things to say. The place is always clean, and the workers are kind and know what they're doing. The memory care area has been great for my Dad. But my Mom, who's not very strong, wanted to stay with Dad in Memory Care too. We don't think that the care she's gotten has been exactly what she needs - she's had to go to the hospital twice in just one month. Because of this, I'd say if you're thinking about bringing a family member here, make sure this place can take care of them the way they need, especially if they have a lot of falls.

"Regrettably Disappointed by Lack of Quality Care at Sunrise"

We reached out to Sunrise due to their rated excellence. We loved their positive vibes, affable staff, and the cleanliness we observed in the Dix Hills facility during our initial tour. Our decision to put our aged mom, who was vibrant but slowly slipping into dementia, here was driven by their promising words of maintaining prompt communication with physicians and psychiatrists. This was crucial since it was her first time in assisted living, and her meds had been recently altered before moving in. They promised us that their doctors would be brought in immediately to keep an eye on and tweak her medicines as necessary. Sadly, the situation didn't pan out as expected. It took almost a month for their psychiatrist to visit mom. She developed a urinary tract infection within the first fortnight, which went unnoticed until we demanded a test following changes in her behavior. Later, they informed us about a fall she had. They didn't feel the need to get her evaluated, but later check-ups related to other problems revealed she had multiple broken ribs. However, what troubled us most was their insistence on ordering one-on-one care, nearly doubling our monthly expenses, seemingly in place of overseeing, tweaking her meds, and checking for potential medical explanations for her increasing needs. The regrettable outcome was relocating our mom to another facility in fewer than three months. The new place has a better rapport with their in-house doctors and demonstrates genuine immediacy and concern.

"Wonderful Care and Friendly Staff!"

They’re doing a great job taking care of my loved one! The place looks nice and clean, and everyone is super friendly! They are not only kind and caring to the residents but also very welcoming to family members who visit. The ladies who work with my husband are very nice and seem to take excellent care of him! They are also very accommodating with meals. My husband is a light eater, but they always make sure to fix him something he likes to help him eat more!

"Great care in a short time; Patty was amazing!"

My mother was only at Sunrise for 24 hours, but everything was really good during that time. The nurses and aides were very caring. It was a nice experience, and the place was spotless. One person who really stood out was Patty. She was amazing!

"Pleased with Care, Concerned About Cost"

Sunrise is a clean assisted living facility with friendly staff. The care managers take good care of residents, and my dad adjusted well to his ‘new home.’ However, the food is just okay, and I wasn’t prepared for the high price.

"Decent, but Not the Ideal choice for Loved Ones"

Pleasant, but not the right choice for them.

"Looked Nice"

During our tour, this place appeared nice and clean. The staff we met were friendly. Although it could have been a good alternative to our chosen location, it was a bit farther away and more expensive.

"Service Falls Short in Otherwise Beautiful Assisted Living Facility"

The place looks nice, but the service isn't great. My dad's been there for a month, so I can't say too much yet. The caregivers are young women who also work in the kitchen, which seems odd. They do everything from cooking to bathing seniors. I'm not sure how experienced they are, balancing kitchen work and caring for wheelchair-bound or walker-using seniors. It's pricey, and for what we're paying, the service should be top-notch, but it's not.

"Great Assisted Living Choice"

My experience with this assisted living facility has been really good. The staff are friendly and helpful, making sure everyone feels comfortable and cared for. The rooms are clean and cozy, and there are plenty of activities to keep residents entertained. The food is tasty and there's a nice variety. Overall, this place is a solid choice for anyone looking for a good assisted living option.

""Reconsidering Facility, Mix of Great Food and Unsettling Sight""

My brother and I are thinking hard about looking again at this place. But we've got to think about how much it will cost. We really liked how the place looks, and the food was great. But, my mom didn't really like it when she saw the people living there just lying around, sleeping right when you walk in.
