"Great Staff and Care at this Top-Notch Facility"
The people who work here are really great. They know what they're doing and they care so much about everyone - the people who live here and their families too. My dad died here and they were really respectful and caring with him. They were really supportive to us as well. I think this is a top-notch facility you should consider.

"Great Staff, Home-like Atmosphere, Happy Residents"
The workers are really nice and helpful. This place feels really comfortable and familiar, like home. My auntie seems to have connected with a lot of folks and she's really excited to be there. They deck the place out for each holiday and make it feel really festive. They even have birthday parties every month.

"Welcoming and Compassionate Staff Make Mom's Transition Easy"
I went to visit this place for my mom. They absolutely made us feel like we were at home. The people working there were so caring and helpful. They made sure to explain everything clearly, and answered every question we had. They definitely made us feel relaxed. Mom has now moved in and she's doing really well. Thank you so much!

"A Warm, Home-like Experience at Sunrise of Smithtown"
I imagined assisted-living spaces as much like a nursing home. This wasn’t the case at all. It was comfy, friendly and welcoming, with everybody seeming happy. I didn't encounter any strange smells or noises. I’d definitely consider moving my dear ones into Sunrise of Smithtown.'

"Poor Care and Communication at Assisted Living Facility"
This place doesn't feel warm at all from the get-go. The front desk, management, nurses, and sales group - all are just surface-level courteous. It's not clean, contrary to appearances. The staff doesn't seem to care. They're horrible at communicating. The person responsible for organizing activities is awful. My mom's truly unhappy here, and we're really unsure if she is receiving proper care here.

"Stinky Room and Too Long Minimum Stay at Sunrise"
We checked out a room that reeked terribly, but I believe it was probably because of some latest mishap, which must likely occur regularly. However, it probably wasn't the best idea to show guests a room with such a stench. The staff seemed friendly, however, but our trip was only about a quarter of an hour, so I didn't have a comprehensive experience. We needed a place for a quick two-week break, however, Sunrise's policy requires at least a month-long stay.

"Confident and Happy With Aunt's Quality Assisted Living Experience"
We're sure the care she's getting is good and my aunt hasn't complained ever about it! It's a great place with excellent care and fun things for the residents to do. I would tell others to check it out.

"Sunrise of Smithtown Pleases with Quality Care, Copes with Challenges"
Sunrise of Smithtown didn't live up to our standards when we opted for them for their end-of-life care license - this meant they could look after folks until their end. We weren't satisfied with the care quality at their old place, and things seemed better here. The staff truly put in effort to tolerate everyone, no matter how challenging some residents might be. They manage them with grace and respect. What sticks out is the staff's professional manner. They don't ignore the residents' needs - when I point out a problem, they tackle it and don't ignore it. They also own up to any blunders, which I found admirable. Sure, it's darn expensive, but the top-quality care makes me feel good about it.

"Sunrise Home Helps in Tough Times Despite Minor Hiccups"
My mother-in-law stayed at another place beforehand, but we didn't like it because it felt cold and distant. That wasn't the case when we moved her to Sunrise. The people there were so nice and helpful. They really are good at organizing their staff and managing connections with families. My mother-in-law had to go into hospice quickly, but they were really understanding and did everything they could to care for her. We did have one bad experience where we didn't notify them before showing up and had issues at the front desk. However, they fixed it quickly when we told them what had happened. They didn't ignore us. I recommend Sunrise to anyone else in need.

"Great for Some, Not for Those Needing More Care"
I think this place was great for my husband, but it's not meant for people who need lots of medical care or those who still want independent living. It's a nice place, just not right for my sister.

"Pleasant Tour of Sunrise Smithtown, Deterred by High Price"
I had a decent visit at Sunrise of Smithtown. They guided me and clarified everything nicely. I got a strong sense of the place. The big issue stopping us was the steep cost.

"Incompetent Staff and Poor Care at Sunrise Assisted Living"
Sunrise has been a horrible experience from the start. The director and the staff have been uncaring, mean, indifferent, and terrible communicators during and before the pandemic. They don't send any daily updates to the family members through email. My aunt has allergies to peanuts and soy. Despite discussing this with the chef, he doesn't follow her diet needs at all. No one at Sunrise seems to understand or care about problems related to memory loss, like dementia or Alzheimer's. They don't know how to talk to, comfort, mitigate, or redirect their residents.

"Administrative Greed Overrides Elderly Comfort at Assisted Living Facility"
I'd slap a zero on this place if I could. Some of the workers are okay, I guess. But the person at the front desk? Not nice at all, and the leaders couldn't care less. They're just after the dough, totally absorbed in business. They don't bother about how the old folks feel or whether they're comfy. I couldn't take my grandpa out of there fast enough!

"Sunrise Assisted Living Offers Compassionate Care During Final Days"
My dad moved into Sunrise Assisted Living on a Wednesday, unfortunately passing just two days later on Friday. He was previously in a rehab center that, in our opinion, wasn't doing him any good. Although his stay at Sunrise was brief, we were extremely thankful we decided to make the switch. When my brother and I met with the Sunrise staff and hospice team, they treated us with utmost respect and heartfelt sympathy. The way they responded and assisted on the day my father passed was reassuring - they were prompt, understanding, and extremely helpful. Regardless of their roles, from caregivers to janitors to on-duty nurse, every staff member went above and beyond. As we processed our loss, the team at Sunrise was adept at taking care of the practical matters. They suggested in a very considerate manner that we could retrieve Dad's belongings whenever we were ready. As a surprise, they returned a significant portion of the money we'd paid for the month's care. The experience was heartwarming despite the sad circumstances, and I'm sincerely glad his final days were spent at Sunrise.

"Satisfied with Dad's Care in Assisted Living Facility"
My Dad has Parkinson's and needs extra attention. This place is good for him, providing enjoyable activities. He even calls the other people living here his friends. The food here is really tasty. Honestly, I can't find anything to complain about.

"Good Services and Certified, But Still Has Room for Improvement"
This place seemed like the top choice because it has a lot of services and an advanced license. Despite this, they are able to take care of individuals who need a hoyer lift and wheelchair.

"Lovely place, but not quite right for mom. Would recommend!"
I toured this community and everything went smoothly. The staff showed up on time for our appointment and patiently answered all our questions. The place looked really nice, and they had cool stuff I liked. But in the end, it wasn't the best fit for my mom because of the location and cost. Still, I'd suggest it to others who are interested.

"Sunrise was decent."
Sunrise was decent. My loved one needs more attention than assisted living provides, but they try. Sometimes it takes a while for staff to arrive when called. The food is okay—better than hospital food—but my loved one wasn’t a fan. We spotted ants in the dining room, but they promptly called an exterminator. Overall, I’d rate them between three and four stars.

"Friendly Environment"
My sister really likes it. When I visit, it feels super friendly. The residents and staff are all nice. Privacy is a bit lacking because everyone shares one room—it's like a big living room. During visits, you'll find yourself sitting with mostly sleeping people, some watching TV. Not much conversation, but that's because many have Dementia. Overall, I'd recommend this place. It's friendly and clean.

"Happy with care, just missing the review follow-up"
Whenever I visit, she always looks neat and clean, and her room is too. Everything seems to be taken care of well. We don’t have any big worries or need for changes. They were supposed to have a review after thirty days, but that hasn’t happened yet. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with them, so I’d give them a four plus.

"Second choice due to distance, but great place overall"
This place was our second choice only because it was far. It was the only Sunrise nearby with an opening when we needed it, but it was 45 minutes away. Everyone was super nice, and we would have loved it, but the drive was just too long.

"Sunrise Senior Living: A Fresh Start for Mom"
After visiting Sunrise, my mom was ready to leave her beloved NYC apartment without any hesitation. She loved the open layout of her new apartment, especially the sunny bay window—definitely no hospital vibe here! The design of the community feels like the “summer cottages” of the rich and famous in Newport. There are indoor and outdoor sun porches, multiple libraries, and cozy living rooms with fireplaces. Residents can enjoy exercise classes, games, and even ice cream socials in the afternoons. My mom barely spends time in her apartment except to sleep because we didn’t want her in a shared room without her own things. The meals are served by waitstaff at tables with white tablecloths, and there’s a full menu with dishes made by an executive chef that are delicious and varied.

"A cozy inn with modern comforts and safety"
My mom thought Sunrise Senior was like a country club. It has old-world charm with modern bed and breakfast service. It’s not institutional at all. The place is bright and airy with central air. The staff is delightful and polite. The executive director and director of sales were super helpful and kind to our family.

"Felt More Like Hospital, Extra Assistance, More Costly"
The place felt more like a hospital compared to the one we picked. Besides, it was pricier. It provided more assistance than we required. It had a lot of wheelchairs around.

"Impressive dementia ward but lacking Medicaid acceptance, overall nice facility."
This place was great. We all liked it a lot. I thought the part for people with dementia was really good. But one person wasn't into it because they don't take Medicaid.
