"Friendly Staff, Mediocre Meals"

The staff is great, but the food needs work.

"Great staff and atmosphere some updates needed"

There are a few things they could improve, like updating the carpet, fixing the hallway walls, and repainting. But from what we experienced at The Amber leigh, we would definitely recommend it to other families. The staff is wonderful friendly, caring, and they really pay attention to what the residents like and dislike. The residents also help each other out and adjust well. The location is great, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

"Bright and Caring Assisted Living"

It's a cheerful place with caring staff who look after my loved one. I'd recommend it.

"Good but not the right fit for my loved one"

I visited this place, and it was alright. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t seem like the perfect fit for my loved one. It was clean, and the staff were friendly, though they felt more like business-friendly.

"Bureaucratic Hassle"

My dad stayed here briefly. We agreed on partial payment, but the refund dragged on from June to December. Despite liking the apartment, the bureaucratic process left a sour taste.

"Avoid This Facility: Lousy Food, Slow Repairs, Reduced Living Conditions"

Absolutely do not let a family member stay at this place. I know because my relative lives here. The food they serve is gross. They don't offer any alternatives and what they do serve isn't what they say it is. The food doesn't even look like the fancy description they give. Sometimes, they don't even bring the right food. "We ran out" is their usual excuse. It's a complete disrespect to the people living here. The new manager seems to be trying to save money on food, maybe to fit a smaller budget or to look good to the head office. Stuff in the rooms break and they take forever to fix them. During the really hot days this summer, the air conditioning stopped working and they took too long to fix it. It was a threat to the well-being of the people living here. I won't mention who told me all this because I'm worried about them getting in trouble. My family member doesn't have the money to live anywhere else. And they can't move. This place needs to get better.

"Nice Entry but Outdated Apartments and Lack of Fun Activities"

Nice entrance but the Independent Living apartments and passageways felt old. The drapes seemed like they were nice back in '95. The mini kitchens had aged cabinets and machines. It didn't seem like there were many fun activities.

"Low Standards at Amberleigh Assisted Living."

My mom started living at Amberleigh three years ago and it's been terrible since. They've been skimping on everything. The food is far from good, and now they're only giving one choice for the evening meal. They don't seem to think about special diets. They're supposed to clean the rooms but they don't do it very well. The person in charge of the place could get an Oscar for pretending. She's only worried about herself and really doesn't care about the people who live there. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone, least of all my enemies.

"Be Wary: Amberleigh's Assisted Living Not as Advertised"

Be careful folks - Assisted Living at this place isn't the same thing as their senior living building. If your family member actually needs Assisted Living, don't make the mistake of putting them in the wrong Amberleigh building or fall for the idea that they're the same thing. If you're switching, the old place can and might say no to moving your family member into Amberleigh's independent living. It seems like they were quite pleased to let us learn this the tough way.

"I always need staff help to exit my room."

On my visit, I saw a one-bedroom apartment that I really wanted. But, when I could move in, they didn't have any available. Once they did, the one I got wasn't even the same as the one I saw. It's all the way down a long corridor. I use an electric wheelchair and can't get out of my apartment by myself. This makes me really upset because I have to use the emergency cords to have someone come let me out, and they don't have enough staff as it is. I feel really alone because I can't leave my room when I want to.

"Great place for mom: good food, friendly staff, lovely garden."

My mom enjoys the food here, and she's gaining weight, which is great. The people who work here are nice and always ready to help. Mom tries to join in on all the fun activities they have, and she's even making friends. The garden they have is beautiful, and there's a nice gazebo where the residents can relax. I think this place is really nice and would recommend it to others.

"Top-Notch Care and Activities"

We’ve been really pleased with the care at this place. The staff are friendly, the food is tasty, and there are lots of fun activities. We appreciate how they motivate her to join in. We recommend this place for excellent family care.

"Pleasant Surprise in Assisted Living Facility"

We were happily surprised by the assisted living facility. Despite a long wait in the big common areas of the independent living part, the place impressed us. It's massive, with over 250 residents and 130 staff members offering plenty of services, transport, clubs, and events. However, the independent living side appeared a bit worn-out, with some maintenance issues like cobwebs and scuffed furniture. The decor felt outdated and gloomy. On the bright side, people were socializing and engaging in various activities. The one-bedroom apartments in the independent living wing lacked views and in-unit laundry. Laundry services cost extra, and linens aren't included. The real surprise came when we explored the assisted living wing, which was bright, beautiful, and serene. The apartments felt spacious and well-kept, with good storage. There are two models to choose from, with Model B feeling larger despite being smaller. The assisted living side offers round-the-clock nursing care, assistance with medications, bathing, grooming, and meal monitoring. Residents have a separate dining room but can access all other amenities in the independent living section. Laundry services are included in assisted living. We were unsure about the costs for personalized care plans since it seems like everything is already covered. A bonus is that pets are allowed in both wings, and they can help you find local dog walkers. The only downside (if we choose assisted living) is that cable TV and phone services are additional expenses, which is uncommon. Cable costs $40 a month, and the phone costs $20.

"Nice place, but staff could be more prepared"

My dad is doing really well at The Amberleigh! It's a really nice place. The only thing I was worried about was that, in the beginning, it seemed like the staff wasn't totally ready to take care of my dad the way he needed. It took them a little while to get everything sorted out.

"Broken Elevators: Chronic Problem at Assisted Living Facility"

The elevators are a huge issue. They're always broken down. Especially the larger one the emergency services use. It's been out of operation for almost 2 months. The sign claims "parts are needed." That's not acceptable.

"Nice Visit, Great Place but Not Right for Mom"

Checking out this place was really cool. It's a really nice spot. They just finished doing some upgrades, and everything's looking really good. The people working there were friendly too. I had a good time there. But sadly, they couldn't give my mom the kind of care she needs. All in all though, visiting the place was pretty good.

"Mom Finds Assisted Living Wonderful"

My mom's experience at the assisted living facility has been great. The care and activities provided are good for her. She prefers being there over the hospital. The staff is friendly, and there are plenty of things to do. They keep me informed and answer my questions promptly. Important staff members introduced themselves at the start.

"Great Care and Quick Move for Mom's New Home"

From the first meeting with [Removed], I got more useful information about moving my mom to enhanced assisted living than I had received anywhere else. She was always available by phone and kept her promise to have a room ready for mom in less than a week. The staff is friendly and helpful. They’ve done everything they can to make my mom feel welcome and safe. We're new to the facility, so we're still getting used to things.

"A Huge Letdown: Amberleigh's Assistance Falls Short"

Amberleigh is a super place for parents who want to live independently. It's bubbling with activities and the people there have a lot of fun (although I've heard some say it can be a bit like being back in high school). I wish I could say the same about our experience. My mom started needing more support and there was no help from Amberleigh. We had to look elsewhere for extra care aides - they couldn't even give us recommendations. The management was pretty much a ghost, they only showed up when they wanted something. Unreturned phone calls were the norm and most of my experiences with them were pretty cold, except when they were trying to convince us to join. So many people told us good things about Amberleigh (including the reviews here). But it turned out to be a letdown. I definitely wouldn't vouch for their Assisted Living or Memory Care services. I just can't fathom how hard it would be to deal with an invisible management team when you need serious care.

"Wonderful place with friendly staff and great activities!"

We're very happy with our experience! The staff is helpful, the facility is beautiful and clean, and they offer a lot of activities. I highly recommend The Amberleigh.

"New Assisted Living Community Gets Thumbs Up from Resident's Family"

My mom's been here a month, and it's going well. The people who work here are friendly, and the place is new and clean. They have fun stuff to do every day, and Mom likes it. Overall, we're happy with it.

"Top Choice for Dad's Needs"

The folks in charge are super nice and truly care. They really want to know how much help your family member needs. The staff spend a bunch of time getting to know everyone and lend a hand wherever they can. My dad and his new wife stay in the senior living area, but sometimes they need extra help, like they're in Assisted Living. The staff make sure the folks living there have as much freedom as possible while staying safe. The food is yummy, even for someone who's picky, and it's good for you too. I checked out 17 places around here, and this one was the best fit for my dad's needs now and in the future, without having to move him again.

"Friendly Facility with Beautiful Meals, Gardens, and Accommodating Staff"

The staff and residents are very friendly. Everyone says hello. The staff learned my mother’s name right away. The public areas are beautiful and offer a nice change from being in the apartment all day. The meals are very good and served in a lovely dining room. The servers greet everyone by name and are very accommodating. The meals were a big reason we chose this place. Many other options are more expensive and not needed. There are church services on site. The grounds have gardens and walking areas for nice weather. Small pets are allowed, so she could bring her cat.

"A Warm Welcome for Our Mom at Assisted Living Facility"

On behalf of my brother, his family, my family, and myself, I want to say a big thank you for everything your facility did to make our mom feel not just comfortable but like she had been there for years. From the moment we were greeted at the main desk to meeting the staff, everyone was very professional and friendly. We wish she could have stayed a bit longer to really feel connected, but even with the time we had, she felt both comfortable and welcomed.

"Mixed Experience at The Amberleigh"

Overall, The Amberleigh has been pretty good. It's clean and looks nice, and the staff are all friendly and helpful. But we've had a few unexpected problems. For example, we didn't know that breakfast is self-serve, which is tough for my loved ones in wheelchairs. They can't easily carry trays or reach the food.

"Top-Notch Assisted Living: Supportive and Understanding Staff"

This place is amazing! I'd totally live there! They're so nice. They get that choosing to move in isn't easy, and they've been super helpful every step of the way.

"She loves it here!"

Moving in was tough, but they've been super supportive. The place is really clean, and the staff is amazing. I'm really happy here. She loves it. The food is good. Breakfast is simple with cereal and oatmeal, but Sunday brunches are awesome. If there's ever a problem like a light bulb out, they fix it right away. It's mostly about getting used to it.

"A Wonderful Place with Helpful Staff and Friendly Atmosphere!"

We’ve had a great time with The Amberleigh! When we were checking them out, they made sure we had all the details we needed and gave us a clear idea of what they offer. After we moved in, they’ve been very helpful with any questions we’ve had. I really like that they assign an “ambassador” to new residents to help them get to know the place and the community. Overall, I love the warm and friendly atmosphere, and there are nice, open areas for the residents to hang out and socialize.

"Beware of Amberleigh: Unsafe for Seniors Due to Negligence"

About two years ago, my mom moved into Amberleigh, a senior living facility in Buffalo that we thought was the best in town. Unfortunately, her experience here has been quite awful. She's been facing issues like the cleaning staff stealing from her apartment and other seniors behaving violently. On top of that, some of the seniors have accidentally run over her feet or crashed into her with their scooters. Most recently, she was physically attacked by another resident at her apartment entrance, who was reported earlier for similar behavior but was never addressed by the management. Currently, the facility director is on vacation and we are unable to have a discussion about this. What's more distressing is that Amberleigh has no immediate plans to take action against this violent resident. Now, I need to move my mom out swiftly for her safety, a sentiment even the police officer who took the recent report agreed with. While the management might remove this post, I will continue to repost to educate those thinking of placing their loved ones at Amberleigh. It's apparent that this place is potentially unsafe due to overlooked violent behaviors and theft by the facility's own employees.

"Kind staff, friendly residents; helpful assistance. Amberleigh ambiance."

The folks who work there and live there are really nice. The staff helps with everything you need.

"Lovely facility with friendly staff and lots of activities"

The facility is really lovely! The staff is super friendly. It’s an independent living place, so they don’t provide direct care. However, they’re excellent at helping people join in the activities. There’s a lot to do, and the prices are quite fair.

"We Really Love This Place!"

We really love this place! It is a bit expensive, but it’s worth the money. They’re enjoying every moment, having tons of fun with all the activities available. There’s plenty of space to walk around, and now she’s healthier. The food is tasty, and the place has a great atmosphere. If I were older and could afford it, I’d choose this place for sure. They have a barber shop and a church on site, and if you want to go to a different church, they’ll take you there. There’s even a library and more. They make sure you’re okay if you don’t come down to eat at least once a day. Unlike many places, they don’t charge extra for two people just the cost of the extra food. Utilities aren’t included, but overall, it’s a great deal. It’s beautiful, and I’d recommend it to anyone. They also work with Aid and Attendance.

"Excellent choice for short-term respite care!"

My family member stayed here for a short respite visit, and we were really impressed! I would rate them highly in every area. The staff were friendly and very helpful! She had a great time while she was there, even though she had to leave early because of an unexpected illness.

"A Window to New Life and Happiness for My Mom"

After my mom's hip surgery, she struggled at home alone. With winter approaching, we knew she needed a change. We visited several assisted living places but felt Amberleigh was perfect for her from the moment we arrived. The staff was friendly, and the place felt like a nice hotel. Although my mom was unsure about moving, we decided to give it a try for six months. After just two weeks, she was excited to be at Amberleigh and started enjoying life again! She made new friends, loved the meals in the elegant dining room, and participated in many activities. We're so relieved she's safe, happy, and thriving. Amberleigh turned out to be a wonderful new chapter for her. She would not be doing so well if she had stayed at home alone. The social interaction and caring staff made all the difference. Fifteen months later, she still loves living at Amberleigh and is active again.

"Great care and independence in a supportive community setting"

Moving to Amberleigh made a huge difference in our parents' lives. Amberleigh gives personal care and service, and creates a community that supports a full and active life at any age. They offer lots of support while still letting people stay independent.

"Mostly meets needs; allows cooking; some fussiness with dining."

The assisted living place is pretty good. It works well for my mom, mostly. My mom enjoys cooking her own food and doesn't like eating in the dining hall, but she can be picky about her meals. Thankfully, she can still cook in her own apartment there.
