"Headline: "Poor Communication and Billing Practices at Assisted Living Facility""
This experience was TERRIBLE. My mother was rushed to the emergency room and I, her only listed contact and power of attorney, wasn't even informed. The doctor insisted she couldn't return to the facility. The staff was uncooperative, and didn't even provide all of her medical supplies. Their billing practices were mind-boggling - they charged for days she wasn't present and inaccurately billed from the previous month. Receiving some of the over-charged money back was a slow process, and they still owe us. The management team was curt, lacked empathy, and even tried to place blame on me. I'd rate this place below 1 star if possible. Although the facility appeared clean, help and care were seriously lacking.

We chose this community because it includes everything. It's clean and neat. They could make it easier for residents to get around and improve the setup. I would tell other families to consider it.

"Friendly Staff and Great Value!"
It smells like a nursing home, but the friendly staff and good caretaker assistance make up for it. They offer activities like Bingo five days a week, and the value for the money is excellent. However, they should work on wellness, communication, and medication management. Overall, my loved one is very happy

I think it's a good place. It looks nice, and my family member is happy there. Every time I visit, it's really clean, and I see staff cleaning often. Activities are a bit limited because of Covid, but they're trying.

"Lucky to have found The Arbors at Hauppauge"
When my dad didn't feel safe living alone anymore, he picked The Arbors after checking out every assisted living place nearby. He chose The Arbors at Hauppauge because of the facility, location, staff, price, all-inclusive policy, and their Veterans Program, which was very important to him. We were so lucky that my dad lived at The Arbors at Hauppauge for three years. It became a second home for both of us. I visited often, and it was always a nice experience. My grandson loved visiting Grandpa and his friends there. The staff and residents were very friendly. I can't say enough good things about our time there. Many days felt like a cruise ship on land—there was always a celebration for my dad, and they welcomed family members to join. During the three years, there were some issues, but they were handled well, and everyone was happy with the solutions. As my dad's needs grew and he needed more care than an assisted living facility could provide, the staff was supportive and patient. Thank you to the staff of The Arbors at Hauppauge!

"The Arbors in Hauppauge Gets 5 Stars"
I can’t say enough good things about The Arbors in Hauppauge. I was really nervous about my dad living there. But from the moment we walked in last year, everyone has been so caring. The care and concern they show are top-notch. The place is beautiful and the activities are great. I highly recommend it to anyone who is as nervous as I was and wants the best for their parents.

"Clean, friendly, great meals and activities"
My mom has been there since 2015. It's clean, and the staff is very nice to residents. They serve three hot meals a day in the dining room, have salon services, and plenty of activities all day. My only dislike is the process for bringing in outside medications. The protocol is exhausting and requires a written prescription with very specific instructions, even for over-the-counter meds. I usually end up making all the calls to the outside doctor. Other than that, it's one of the best facilities I had seen at the time.

"Overall A Good Experience"
My loved one's experience in this community is going well. It's a good, safe place, and we feel comfortable here. The staff is kind and friendly during our visits. The only issue is transportation to Mass on Sundays; they didn't take him once due to few attendees. We felt they should have for religious reasons. Besides that, everything else is going well. Overall, I recommend this community; it's nice.

"“A Tour with Challenges”"
This place has super long hallways. They’ve got a little rest spot halfway down. But the way they’ve set up different levels for activities makes it a bit confusing to get around. Not the best for folks with memory problems.

"My Mom Loves It Here!"
The move-in process has been great for my mom. She is meeting new friends, which is what she needed. They have many activities during the day with meals in between. Breakfast is at 8, lunch at 12, and dinner at 6. We try to call her, but she is always busy. It's a nice, clean community, and the staff are helpful and friendly. They also give her reminders for her medicine. The other residents are very nice, and she was happy to get a semi-private room.

"Great amenities, helpful staff, not ideal location"
I have no complaints about how my tour went of this community for my loved one. The staff were on time for our appointment and made sure to answer all our questions in detail. They had a nice floor plan with lots of great amenities available for all the residents. In the end, it was just not the right location for my loved one.

"Amazing care and love at The Arbors at Hauppauge"
Many thanks to the folks at The Arbors at Hauppauge! The care, services, friendship, and love my mom gets have made her life so much better. They provide all the necessary services with a warm, friendly, and patient attitude, which is so important for keeping a positive outlook for their residents. As a doctor, I know how important it is to have consistent and compassionate care, especially in a place that needs such personalized attention. During my many surprise visits, I have never seen any staff member stray from their mission to provide the best care and life in a positive, upbeat way. My family's heartfelt thanks to all the housekeepers, maintenance and groundskeepers, chef and kitchen staff, Wellness staff and doctor, occupational/physical therapists, social worker, front desk receptionists, recreational staff, and each administrator.

"The Arbors has changed Mom's life!"
We love the Arbors at Hauppauge! My adoptive mom has been there for a year, and she is healthier and happier than ever. The staff at the Arbors helped her so much. Before, she was tired and weak. She wasn’t eating well and seemed to be giving up. Now, after a year, she is strong and healthy; she has gained weight, walks well, and stands tall. The care she receives at the Arbors is excellent. The staff is dedicated, professional, and caring. They truly love her. I am so grateful to them. I live 1,500 miles away, and I am impressed with her care.

"Choose a Better Home for Your Loved One"
The health team has messed up a lot. The head boss isn't good at answering phone calls and usually has other workers handle problems. My Mom's run out of her medicines more than once. There're too many people leaving their jobs there. You should really choose a different place for your family member.

"Mixed Bag: Good Staff and Residents, Not-so-great Food and Management"
This place is ok due to some nice staff and residents. The activities they offer are pretty cool, but the food isn't that great. The helpers are hit and miss - some are really good but others not so much, and you never can tell what you're gonna get. The big bosses, though, are a different story. Because of them, the good workers never stick around too long, which isn't good for the folks living there.

"A wonderful place for Mom to feel at home!"
My mom is very happy staying at The Arbors at Hauppauge. She has a great semi-private room with a wall divider that makes it feel private. This is a smart idea for everyone. Many seniors can’t afford private rooms, but this is the next best thing. The food is great, and there are many activities. She feels at home and comfortable. The staff is marvelous. I highly recommend this place!

"Very Bad Experience at The Arbors at Hauppauge"
Our experience with The Arbors at Hauppauge was just awful. After having already filled out all their paperwork, it seemed like we were good to go to move our family member in. Then they found something in her medical records that they suddenly decided they didn't like, and now they say she can't move in. We even got the hospital social worker to try to talk to them to figure things out, but they blew us off and said we need to talk to their main office instead. They didn't handle things right at all.

"A Truly Special Place"
The staff at The Arbors are super caring and attentive, making this place really special. I’ve met the employees many times, and always stand out. The place is clean, bright, and modern with lots of daily activities. There’s even a bus trip every day that takes residents out of the community. I think the staff really make or break an assisted living facility, and this one is a winner.

"Issues with dementia care, lacking communication and refund policies."
The Arbors at Hauppauge feels cozy with nice decor. Staff, especially Melissa, Nancy & Dana, are friendly and build relationships with residents and families. However, if your loved one needs more than basic assistance, this might not be the place. My mom has moderate dementia and needs a lot of help. We were told they'd try, but after 2 weeks, they said she needed to leave. It was hard to find another place, and my mom didn't understand why she had to move. What upset me was the Executive Director never talked to us about it, even on moving day. Only after a complaint did we hear from them. And we only got 1/3 of our $3000 community fee back, even though we stayed for 2 months. If they can't handle dementia, they should say so upfront.

"They really pay attention to detail"
They really pay attention to detail. They have lots of activities and make sure people join in. I checked out another place, but I picked this one because it was clean and had everything included. My only suggestion is to keep getting people more involved and fix any problems or complaints. My dad had dinner with some folks, and one guy wasn’t very nice, but Dad didn’t want to say anything. This place also felt brighter and more cheerful.

"Amazing place with caring staff and happy residents!"
This place is excellent! They have wonderful, caring, kind, and compassionate staff. It's a fabulous place. My brother is so happy there! I never thought he would embrace his life there like he has. As soon as we went to The Arbors and met with Christine, I knew this was the right place for my brother. It's so warm and welcoming. There’s a beautiful corner room with a fireplace where they hold all the activities. He has a little terrace and a privacy wall in his room. There's a 24-hour bistro with coffee, snacks, and a TV. Everywhere you go, every nook and cranny, feels warm and welcoming. It's Catholic-centered and veteran-centered, with meetings for veterans once a month and a van to take you to services. It’s the perfect place! I would highly recommend it to anyone! It’s the best of everything I’ve seen and has exceeded all my expectations.

This assisted living facility is really clean and smells fresh. The staff here are super nice and friendly! The outdoor space is a bit lacking but it's not a big deal. They make sure we eat healthy meals, which is great. I feel quite safe here and they take good care of us personally. "Issues With Elevator Usage and Safety at Residential Facility"
My main problem was with the elevator. When I visited, I noticed residents had to wait in line to use it because it was being used by maintenance or housekeeping staff. I think there should be a separate elevator just for maintenance and cleaning services. This is a matter of safety.
