"Mixed Feelings About The Bristol Assisted Living Facility"
The Bristol looks fancy, but I didn't really like it. They charge extra for things like giving out medicines. Who remembers to take pills in a place like this?

"Great Staff, Fancy Facility"
We had a good time at The Bristal at Westbury. Some of the workers were really great. The place itself is fancy and really big. We felt that it wasn't so good for family visits in the memory care part.

"Avoid this Bristol Facility: Substandard Care and Poor Communication"
Writing this review saddens me but it's necessary to raise awareness and instigate changes. I'm really let down by this specific Bristol where my mom's care is not up to par. There is a glaring deficiency of responsibility and communication among the majority of the personnel, along with a blase attitude. This place fails in providing the compassionate care to seniors, as they claim in their brochures. My family needs to continually ensure my mom has her meals, especially when she's unwell and unable to mingle. There's plenty more that can be mentioned but for my mom's sake, I won't go deeper. All I can advise is never to place your parents, or let them choose this place. End of story!

"Assisted Living Review: Safety, Communication, and Activities Overview"
I'd tell my friends it feels safe here. There weren't many COVID cases. Communication could improve; our loved one shares uncertain information. Pre-COVID activities: movies, bingo, ice cream social, chair yoga, arts, dance.

"Mixed Experience at Bristal Westbury Assisted Living Facility"
My mom lived at Bristal Westbury for about a year. First, let me say it's really nice and super clean. The food is great, and she loved every meal. The staff, from front desk to dining room, cleaning crew, and helpers, were all fantastic, friendly, caring, and kind. The wellness team was also really good. But, my advice is to make sure you get everything written down when you sign up. We were told over and over by different people in charge that they could provide certain services my mom needed. But it turned out they couldn't legally do it, so we had to move her to another place that had the right license. Later, we found out there was another Bristal with that license, which we would have chosen if we'd known. It would've saved us a lot of stress and sadness if they had accurate information and got everything sorted out.

"Great care and food at The Bristal; mom is adjusting well"
My mom is staying in the Memory Care unit at The Bristal at Westbury. She’s still getting used to it, but I’m already seeing some positive changes. They give special care to each resident, the food looks really good, the unit is clean, and the staff are excellent. Leaving her home after 50 years was a tough decision for us both. But she seems to be adjusting better now and talks less about going home. I feel confident that this was the right choice for her, and I’m thankful there’s a place like this that provides the care she needs for her Alzheimer’s.

"Peace of Mind and Excellent Care at The Bristal"
We are giving a 5-star review for The Bristal at Westbury. We're incredibly happy with the care our Dad is getting there. It was a hard decision to make when we realized we couldn't provide the care he needed at home. With his dementia, hip problems, and heart issues, the home wasn't safe anymore. Since all of us work full-time, managing his medications, shopping for groceries, keeping his house clean, and making sure he was eating right became more and more difficult. Another big difference is that when he lived at home, we were always busy taking care of things instead of truly visiting with him. Now, when we visit, it's a real visit. We wanted the very best care for our Dad, so we chose The Bristal at Westbury. The staff at The Bristal is amazing. They are caring, loving, and attentive to both Dad's needs and ours. The place is always spotless, and Dad and his clothes are kept clean. His room is beautiful and feels like home whenever we visit. The meals are fantastic, like dining at a restaurant. The Bristal offers different rooms on each floor that families can reserve for gatherings, where you can bring in your own food or have The Bristal cater it. There are cozy living rooms throughout the facility where residents and their families can spend time together. There are plenty of activities to keep the residents engaged. There's also a movie theater, a 24-hour bistro, a wellness center, a hair salon, and more. Even though moving Dad to assisted living was a tough decision at first, The Bristal has exceeded all our hopes. We have peace of mind knowing he's getting the best care in a clean, loving environment. Our visits are now happy, and Dad is content on this new journey. If your loved one needs excellent care, look no further than The Bristal at Westbury. You'll never regret your decision. We are truly blessed that our Dad is being cared for there.

"Beware: Costs surge at Lynbrook; seek elsewhere for affordability."
My mom's been at Lynbrook for 3 years. Her money's almost gone. They said Medicaid would take over, but rates skyrocketed instead. If your loved one doesn't have a lot of money, find somewhere else!

"Great Prices and Friendly Staff"
The place is clean and airy. The staff member I met was very helpful and greeted everyone with enthusiasm. She took her time with me and answered all my questions thoroughly. The prices are the most competitive, with no entrance fee and $1000 off monthly rent.

"Read the Fine Print: Nonrefundable Fees at Bristal Facilities""
My family member moved into Bristal at Westbury after being checked out by their staff. We thought the care would be enough for him but it turned out he needed more. The staff at Bristal made it clear they couldn't provide what he needed and he had to leave. We weren't given much time to figure things out. We found him a new place, but it was harder to find and cost more money. We also tried to get back some of his deposit. Out of the $15,000 we paid, we found out $7,500 was a nonrefundable fee. We didn't know this when he first moved in. They told us we couldn't get that money back. It was hidden in the details of the contract. If you're an older person thinking about moving into a Bristal place, make sure to read the contract really well. Understand that a big chunk of what you pay at the start is a nonrefundable fee, even if you leave after just a month. I hope this is helpful for you. - A Family Member

We’re really happy with this place. The staff are super nice. My loved one likes the food and there’s a lot to choose from. They have daily activities like movies, exercises, and card games. The place is very clean and doesn’t smell at all. The prices are good and better than other places around.

"Open Layout, Fun Activities, Helpful Staff; Wrong Fit for Dad"
I liked how the building was set up, with everything feeling open. They have lots of fun stuff for everyone to do each week, and the food is really good too. When we toured, the staff were super helpful and told us everything we needed to know. But, in the end, we decided it wasn't the right place for my dad.

"Uncertain Costs"
We visited this place while searching for my dad. It seemed nice. The food looked good. But, there's a problem. They didn't have a fixed price. Some extras cost more. They asked for a doctor's evaluation before moving in. The price might change based on care needs. We thought the cost was too unpredictable for someone with a fixed income.

"Wonderful care, clean place—highly recommend The Bristal of Westbury!"
I contacted A Place For Mom months ago to find a good place for my parents. The coordinator was incredibly helpful. She suggested we visit The Bristal of Westbury, and with her support, we decided to move our parents there about three weeks ago. My father needed a lot of convincing, but The Bristal has been fantastic. He looks much more relaxed and calm now. My mom, who has dementia, is more active and involved than she was at home. The staff is great, answering all our questions and meeting our needs. With four siblings, we had many questions, and they were all answered. We feel relieved knowing our parents are safe and well cared for. The Bristal is clean, beautifully decorated, and their apartment is just right for them. I highly recommend The Bristal of Westbury!

""Total Lack of Care and Compassion at Assisted Living Facility""
My mother only lasted two weeks at this facility before falling sick. Sadly, the health staff didn't notice her illness and pressured her to attend lunch despite her poor condition. Her weakness led to a fall in her room, and in two days, she was in the hospital with bad bronchitis. We maintained and paid for her room for two months, hoping her hospital discharge would lead back to the facility, but it never happened. It became clear they weren't capable of looking after her and we lost our trust in them. While the management was helpful during our tour, their attitude changed when my mother became a resident. We couldn't reach them by phone or email for even a simple inquiry. Don't let your loved one stay here. They are all about profit and lack empathy. They don't really care about their residents.

"Nice but Pricey Assisted Living"

"Mom's New Home: Good but Pricey Extras and Confusing Rent"
The folks working at my mom's assisted living facility made moving in simple. She's been there just over a month, I guess. Everything from the food to the building's cleanliness is great. But, the extra services like meds and showers can cost a lot and they might not be worth the money. I had some issues with getting answers to my calls about the rent and upfront two-month payment. Turns out, the first month's charge was for community rent, which I don't remember them explaining clearly. When I finally got an answer, they just said to read the contract.

"Great place, but not right for memory care needs!"
We visited this community while exploring care options for our loved one. It was a VERY nice place! However, I don’t think it would be the best fit for them. Our loved one needed memory care, and even though there is a memory care wing, it was small and not the main focus. If someone only needed assisted living, this place looked amazing! It felt like a big cruise ship, and they had a long list of activities too!

It’s only been a month since my mom moved in, so we’re still getting used to it and don’t have a lot of experience yet, but so far it’s been good. One of the main things that means a lot to me is knowing my mom is safe, which gives us great peace of mind.

What a great experience having my mom here! She doesn’t have to worry about anything. They take care of her cleaning and laundry, and she gets three awesome meals every day. "Best Call I Ever Made!"
A Place for Mom is an amazing free service. Last month, I had to find a new place for my 91-year-old mom after rehab. I saw an ad for A Place for Mom on TV and called them. It was the best call I ever made! Tammy Singer answered all my questions and kept in touch every day to help me make decisions. Thanks to one of the staff , my mom is now at The Bristal at Westbury. It’s a beautiful and comfortable place for her.

"Great move for my grandmother; staff treats her like family"
Nine months ago, I had to move my grandmother to the Reflections wing at the Bristal. Once she got settled, I saw that the staff helped her start a good routine. She even went to the beauty salon on-site for her hair and nails, something I couldn't get her to do before. I believe her quality of life has improved much more than I could have managed. The staff treats your loved one like family.

"Beautiful Facility with Some Noise Issues; Limited Social Opportunities"
This place looks really nice! When I stayed over at my folks' new home there, I felt cozy on their couch. But we're a bit bummed that there aren't many people for them to hang out with. They're having a tough time getting used to everything. Downstairs, there's a restaurant that throws some loud parties on weekends, and it's hard to sleep sometimes. Everyone who works there is super nice, though. Behind the restaurant, there's a recycling place or something that makes a lot of noise too.

"A Wonderful New Home for Mom"
My mom just moved into the Bristal at Westbury. The staff has been super attentive and helped her settle into her first assisted living place. Whenever we’ve had concerns, the management has been really patient and responsive. The whole building is super clean and has a nice atmosphere. My mom loves the group activities and thinks the food is delicious. It’s such a relief to have her medication managed by the Bristal, and it’s great that her doctor and physical therapist are available on site.

This assisted living place is pretty cool. The rooms are set up nicely, and it's close to the shops, so you can easily get stuff you need. The Director is really nice and helpful. But, there's a downside too. Some rooms have a view of train tracks and a cemetery, which isn't so great. Overall, it's alright, but the views could be better.
