The Bristal at White Plains

"Unprofessional Staff and Poor Service at Bristol Assisted Living"
My mom stays at The Bristol Assisted in White Plains, but I regret it. The employees, from the front desk to the nurses, are always unprofessional. Every time I call or visit, they act like they're bothered and rush me off. When I ask about my mom, they seem uninterested and like they just want to end the conversation. Once, after a long trip, I asked for help using a temperature checker at the front desk, and the receptionist acted as if it was such a hassle. It's like they forget that we're not just their families, but their customers! I never see the staff smiling. They always look upset. The staff might need to check on their own mental health!

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
This place looks fancy, like a top-notch hotel. But my family member didn't enjoy it much. They weren't keen on joining activities because of some staff problems. Some staff were nice, others a bit grumpy.

"Bristol Assisted Living - Nice Facilities, Poor Staff and Care"
My dad has been living at the Bristol for a few years now, and we've noticed the quality of their services has been going down continuously. That's why we've decided to move him to another facility soon. The place itself is well-maintained, has impressive food service, and is always clean, but sadly, the problem lies with the staff. They aren't paid enough and are unhappy, which leads to them often leaving their jobs frequently. I've worked as a hospital administrator for a long time, and I can tell that the management just isn't bothered. They're only focused on keeping their own jobs, not about the welfare and care of the residents. You might want to consider other options.

" "Huge Disappointment Over Security and Service at Bristol Assisted Living""
My initial experience with the Bristol was actually negative. Before my mom's house sold, I had to rent her an apartment there. Notably, when we spent our first day at the facility, five coats that we had initially placed in the closet mysteriously disappeared. The management played it off and provided no assistance, forcing me to subtract $500 from the rent payment myself. Three months into her stay, two priceless rings, a gold necklace, and $250 also went missing. I reported this to the White Plains police, but nothing came of it. On Mother's Day 2019, another incident occurred. My mom visited my sister's house, and upon her return, we discovered a gold ring and $80 was missing. The cheap safe they provided in her apartment had been broken into, and what's worse, they implied that it might've been my mother's own doing due to her aging memory. The insinuation that my mom, who's sharper than the person who tried to suggest she forgot, may have been responsible is deeply insulting. If you're considering moving a loved one to the Bristol, my advice would be, don't allow them to keep any valuables unless they’re fully prepared to protect them.

"Good amenities but lacking support; too far for convenience."
It's really nice. I liked the movie theater and how we can choose where to eat with family. The people living there seem happy. But it's far away and they don't have enough help when you need it.

"Great care and attention at Bristal Assisted Living Facility"
Our mother who is now 103 years old, has been living at the Bristal Assisted Living Facility in White Plains since November 2017. Over these 14 months, my brother [name removed] (who lives in Maine) and I living in Utah have visited her regularly for about 5-7 days at a time. During these visits, we've had plenty of chances to see how the staff and the facility operate. We've found many of the staff members to be hardworking, friendly, and caring. They seem proud of their jobs, and some go above and beyond to make the residents happy. Our mother even has a few favorites who make her face light up when they enter her room. We’re pleased with how clean and well-kept the facility is. It always feels fresh and modern, and the holiday decorations add a nice, homey touch. The housekeeping team keeps our mother’s room and the common areas spotless, while the maintenance staff quickly fixes any issues that come up. The front desk is well-managed and friendly, and we appreciate how strictly they enforce the sign-in and sign-out procedures for security. Although the staff doesn’t always respond as quickly as our mother might hope, they are professional and ready to help. Her nursing care is good, with medications given on time, and the food is well-prepared with lots of choices (though sometimes we question if such a large selection is needed. Our mother isn't able to join many activities, but it seems like there are plenty of well-chosen and appreciated options for the more active residents. The senior staff are understanding of both residents' needs and family requests. Overall, while there is always room for improvement, we feel that our mother is well cared for at the Bristal.

"Peace of Mind at Bristal White Plains"
I really like the Bristal White Plains assisted living facility. It's a great place for my 96-year-old father, who still lives independently, and my mother, who received care in the Reflections memory unit during her last years. Even though I don't live nearby, it gives me peace of mind to know they're well taken care of.

"Heartbreak and Regret at Expensive, Uncaring Assisted Living Facility"
My mom has been at Bristal White Plains for three months, and I feel heartbroken every time I talk to her. The food there is just awful. She's had diarrhea many times. They promise fun shows and trips, but they always get cancelled before they happen. They show movies every day but they're not for the residents. The movies are often violent, not the kind of thing an 85-year-old wants to watch. The staff is not nice to these poor, suffering older folks. And Bristal is really expensive. The people we talked to before moving my mom into this place told us things that weren't true. We had a nice lunch when we visited. But my mom's meals have been just trash ever since. I wish I had read a review that told the truth before we put my mom in such a terrible place at this point in her life.

"Poor Care and High Prices at Assisted Living Facility"
My experience was quite disappointing and stressful at this assisted living facility. While the assisted living section provided plenty, the memory care unit was another story. Chairs were covered with newspapers soaked in urine. Additionally, the staff would often spend more time talking amongst themselves at a back table rather than engage with the residents. My poor mother fell over 30 times in the last six months, which meant hiring a full-time aide in addition to the hefty fees already being paid. If I hadn't been a regular visitor, my mom's needs would have likely been neglected. My mom didn't want to leave her home in the first place and seeing the subpar care here only made the decision harder. Some members of the staff were considerate and attentive, but the inconsistency of their care was alarming. Numerous senior staff members left during the year my mother was there, creating an unstable environment. No one followed through with anything, and the director rarely left her office to oversee the facility's operation. I advise you to consider alternative options for your loved ones.

"Moving Mom to The Bristal was the right choice."
My sister and I knew it was time to move our mother into an assisted living memory care unit near us in Westchester, but we were worried about how she'd react. She had lived with a full-time aide in her Queens apartment for five years, and they were very close. We were advised not to tell her about the move beforehand to avoid making her anxious. The Bristal in White Plains was the first place we checked out, and it immediately felt right. The lobby was elegant and inviting, more like a hotel than a senior residence. We loved that the Reflections memory care unit was right on the first floor in a separate wing, with an activity space, dining room, and only 32 bedrooms. Right outside the entrance were the Wellness Center, library, movie room, sitting area with snacks, and a beauty parlor. Every bedroom, whether a single or part of a "friendship suite" with shared space, had a private bathroom. When we visited, there was a vacancy in a friendship suite, and we quickly put down a deposit. We also visited another assisted living facility nearby, but it felt much more like an institution compared to The Bristal. On the day of the move, we told our mother that her apartment needed major repairs, and she would need to stay somewhere else for a while. We said we found a place close to us where she could stay. She got very quiet, then said, "You could have told me sooner. I'm not senile, you know." The next day, my sister visited before lunch to see how our mom was doing. When she arrived at Reflections, our mother was nowhere to be found. An aide told her that when mom saw a group of residents leaving for a museum trip, she decided to join them. We were thrilled that she was already participating in social activities. At home, she had been isolated and hadn't visited a museum in years. To our great relief, our mother quickly adapted to her new life at The Bristal. She made friends, said the staff was kind and attentive, and felt comfortable in her room, which we decorated with family photos and her artwork. Our mother stayed there for five months until her sudden passing. During that time, she and we were treated with kindness and respect. Moving our mother to The Bristal was the best decision we could have made.

"Underwhelming Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
When I went to this place, it looked nice. It seemed like they had new bosses because things were kinda messy. The people there weren't very nice, and they didn't really help us with our questions. The place was clean, but it didn't feel cozy like we hoped.
