Village Walk at Patchogue

"Friendly Staff, Sometimes Confusing, Overall Helpful"
The place and the people who work there are really easy to talk to and they want to assist you. Sometimes it might take a bit to know who can help you with your specific issue, but once you figure that out, everyone is ready to lend a hand.

"Smaller, Personal Facility Parents Happy and Adjusting Well"
My parents are adjusting to the daily routine and appear happy. Everything is going well so far. The place is nice, but I occasionally need to remind them to do things. It is smaller than some other facilities, which makes it feel more personal.

"Abysmal Care: Grandma's Untimely Death Hastened at Assisted Living Facility"
I think my grandma's time came sooner because she stayed there. She got out from the closed-off dementia area and managed to walk 3 miles back home. The workers didn't say sorry and even told lies about it. The day before she unexpectedly passed away, she'd fallen twice. While clearing out her room, we came across scribbles on napkins in her handwriting, pleading for food.

"Needs Improvement in Care and Communication"
I suggest checking out other places first. This place might be okay if your family member just started having memory issues—they could do well here. But if they’re further along with their memory loss, you’ll probably find better care somewhere else nearby. It seems like they don’t have enough staff, and that’s not good for the health of the people living there. They should really look at what each person needs more often, not just one time when they first come. They should pay more attention to folks who just got back from the hospital. Those people should get the most attention, but that wasn’t our experience. We also didn’t get the kind of updates we expected from the person in charge of memory care. The lady who helped us sign up was super nice, though. But the memory care boss only got back to us about half the time we reached out.

"Good experience, but laundry schedule needs improvement"
The main issue we've had is that the staff are supposed to wash the clothes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but this doesn't always happen. Sometimes, she ends up wearing other people's clothes. Other than that, it's been a pretty good experience. The staff is polite and the place is clean. Most of the aides are good. I would recommend Village Walk to anyone else looking.

"Perfect Location: Walk to Dining and Activities, No Car Needed"
Excellent spot on Main Street in Patchogue. You can walk to restaurants and things to do without needing a car—just push the wheelchair down the street. This is really important for my sister right now.

"Disappointing Experience for Dementia Resident"
Reading the reviews, I see lots of people like all the fun things they do here. But that's not the case for my 98-year-old mom who has dementia. Before the pandemic, I used to visit her 3 or 4 times a week. Now, even though we're both vaccinated, I hardly get to see her. The beauty salon used to make her so happy, but it's gone now, and her hair doesn't get washed often. Her rug hasn't been cleaned in over a year, even though I've asked many times. I pay extra for better care, but my mom seems really sad now.

"Great value and activities, but COVID restrictions limit access"
We chose Village Walk because they offered the best price and were close to our house. Due to COVID restrictions, we haven’t been able to see much of the facility, but from what we’ve seen, the activities seem great, and he has enjoyed them. They are very creative and have made accommodations for his wheelchair. They keep us updated on everything we need to know. I’ve tried contacting them a few times, but it can be difficult to reach someone. The most frustrating part is the COVID restrictions preventing us from entering his room.

"Terrible memory care, don't go here for memory care patients!"
Took mom here for ten day respite. She was placed in memory care on the fifth floor because she has dementia. While I was told there would be many activities, and the calendar said the same, there was nothing happening on the fifth floor. On the third day of her respite I received a call that she had fallen - the night aide had left her socks on, so she slipped while she was in the bathroom! Thank goodness she didn't break anything. I was told that they would take extra care of my mom because of her additional requirements. After meeting with the director and nurses they told me they would move her to the fourth floor where there were much more activities. I decided to extend her stay, seeing as how they had tried to work something out. When I came to check on her later in the day she needed to be changed, and she had a rash. I immediately took her home. No one from the home ever bothered to call me to see how she was doing. While the assisted living area may be well managed, the memory care is horrible.
