"Friendly Staff, Dietary Improvements Needed"

The staff at Walden Place is friendly and helpful, but they could improve in accommodating patients with special dietary needs, especially those who require puréed food. Overall, we'd recommend the Walden Place community to other families.

"Great place with excellent food and fun activities, needs better updates"

I would suggest Walden Place to others for their family members and have already done so. I do wish the staff would follow up better with information about my loved one's care. They get help with things like checking blood sugar, managing medications, and more. Residents can enjoy activities like bus trips, shopping trips, bingo, outside entertainment, music, and an activity center. The food here is excellent.

"Friendly staff and great dining at Walden Place"

The staff are super friendly, nice, and helpful. The apartments are big with lots of space. Our loved one says the meals and dining service are great. Even though they don’t join the activities, there’s always a lot happening. We would recommend Walden Place to other families.

"Good memory care, some issues in assisted living"

Our loved one first moved into the memory care side, and it was a very good experience. The person in charge was great, always on top of everything and very responsive. We communicated well with her. Now our loved one is on the assisted living side, and we knew there would be less oversight. However, the nurse in charge of assisted living has been a bit difficult to work with. Sometimes, communication about our loved one's medication gets lost.

"Top-Notch Assisted Living Community"

The community stands out as one of the best in the area, and our loved one truly enjoyed their time here. I wholeheartedly recommend this community to others.

"Great Activities and Spacious Rooms"

I would recommend this place. They have a full-time activities director for the memory care floor. There are computer games for memory, personal care like manicures, field trips, arts and crafts, and before COVID, they would stop for ice cream. The food is really good. The room is big enough for my loved one.

"Great place with good food and rooms, especially if local"

I would suggest this place, especially if you live nearby. It's a great spot to be. The food is really good for me now. The room is just right and great. I pay for it, and I think they do a pretty good job.

"Confusing Policy for Payment at a Nursing Home After Dad's Death"

My dad was recently living at Walden Place in Cortland, NY. We liked the care he got while there. But, we had a problem when he tripped, broke his hip, and needed surgery. He was in the ICU for seven days and it became obvious he couldn't go back to Walden Place. We packed his stuff and left. A worker told us we'd need to pay for his room, even though he couldn't return. Another worker told us we wouldn't have to keep paying if dad left because he was sick. Later, my dad passed away and now they're still trying to make us pay. No one ever told us we'd need to plan for dad's fall, surgery, and death if we wanted to stop paying for his room.

"Nice Senior Home, Wrong Location for Me"

This is a really nice place with friendly, happy folks. Also, the person in charge of sales is really cool. But, it's not in the place I want.

"Consider this tidy and well-regarded assisted living community."

This place didn't have space when we searched, but someone I know has a family member here and they seem happy. It looks clean.

"Nice Visit, But Not The Ideal Fit For Independent In-Laws"

I had a nice time visiting this assisted living center. It was clean and the people working there were really nice. It's a place for folks who need a lot of help, but my in-laws can still do most things themselves. So, I thought the place was good, but it's not the right fit for my in-laws.

We are really happy with our choice of Walden Place. They take good care of everyone, remind us when to take our medicine, and have fun activities. We love it here.

"Walden Place: Caring, Cheerful, and Respectful Assisted Living Experience"

After looking into several eldercare options and talking to professionals, my mother decided on Walden Place in Cortland, NY. She recently moved there. Walden Place is a modern, bright, and well-kept assisted living facility. The staff is attentive and caring, making sure Mom gets the right balance of help and independence. The residents have many activities to choose from, and the food is excellent. Housekeeping and laundry services are also well managed. Every time I visit, I notice the friendly atmosphere and strong sense of community. Other families I've talked to who chose Walden share the same positive view of the place’s respectful and joyful approach to care. I highly recommend Walden Place.

"Mom Thrilled with Comfort and Activities at Walden Place"

We're really happy we chose Walden Place for our mom. She loves her cozy apartment and enjoys having her own space. She can either relax alone or join in the fun activities offered. She likes having a window to watch people and the weather, and she appreciates having her own heater and cooler for comfort. We’re reassured knowing she gets three meals a day and takes her medications as needed. Overall, Mom is very happy at Walden Place, and that makes us happy too.

"Perfect Choice for Us Welcoming, Comfortable, and Convenient"

I checked out a lot of places, but Walden Place was perfect for us. It might be pricey, but it's totally worth it. My mom adjusted well, and both she and I feel very welcomed by the staff and other residents. Her one-bedroom apartment is really nice, and she feels right at home. Since my mom forgets things, the staff does a great job reminding her about meals, activities, and medications. I'm also really happy that she's now much closer to me.

"Great care, friendly and responsive staff at Walden Place"

We’re really happy with how things have been going at Walden Place. They do an excellent job taking care of everything. The place looks nice, and the care staff are all very friendly and professional. They’re especially good at keeping in touch; they almost always reply to my emails the same day, and whenever I call, they are polite and helpful.

"New Chapter for Dad"

My brother and I worried a lot about putting Dad in a place because of his memory problems. I live in Wisconsin, and he’s local to this facility. The people who run the place and the staff were really patient with us. They let us visit for lunch many times and spent a lot of time talking and planning. When my brother went on vacation, I flew out to take care of Dad. It was hard, but I knew it was the right thing. The staff understood and were kind and caring. They really go out of their way to help. The food is great, the place is clean, and the care is excellent. We’re so thankful we found Walden. Dad is safe and comfortable there. I strongly recommend it.

"Dad's Life Improved at Walden Place"

If you're reading this, you probably know how tough it is to make the choice to move a parent into assisted living, especially into a memory care unit. It’s been an emotional ride for us, trying to get everyone in the family on the same page. My mom was torn between wanting to keep my dad at home and knowing she just couldn’t manage anymore. Both A Place for Mom and Walden Place have been incredibly supportive. My dad has been at Walden Place for two weeks now and he’s really happy there. He loves the attention he gets and has mentioned how nice and clean it is. My best advice is to visit. Once we did, all my old worries about what it would be like vanished. It’s bright, cheerful, clean, and doesn’t have any bad smells. Even though my mom still has moments of doubt, I truly believe my dad is having a better life at Walden Place. And that’s what matters most!

"Grandpa Loves Walden Place Highly Recommended"

I had a hard time finding the right place for my grandfather, but Walden Place turned out to be perfect. He LOVES it there. He has his own private studio, his own mailbox, and enjoys three great meals a day with table service. The food is really good I’ve eaten there myself. This was important to him. The staff is amazing, and thanks to a special benefit for WWII veterans, we could afford it. The place itself is beautiful and totally worth the cost. The administrative team went above and beyond to help us with the expenses. I highly recommend Walden Place and am so glad we have such a nice option in our small town.

"Warm and Welcoming Assisted Living Near Home"

I really like how friendly everyone is. They make a big effort to welcome new people. When my mom had a tough time adjusting, they kept trying to include her and matched her with caring people. I was amazed to see many folks sitting outside, chatting and eager to talk about the place. Inside, everyone was equally friendly. There are lots of activities, but not everyone can join in. Adding a few more activities would let more people participate. The location is great; it's close to where I live.

"They’ve been great! My loved one enjoys it."

They’ve been great! My family member hasn’t joined all the activities, but they definitely offer them. The calendar of events and activities is wonderful. It’s a bit pricier than some others, but you get a lot. The staff genuinely cares for the residents, and their interactions make it feel less like a nursing home. Every time you walk in, there’s a welcoming face. Overall, it’s been a positive experience.

"Walden Place: Exceptional Care and Support for Loved Ones"

We can’t say enough about Walden Place and its amazing staff. The facility is clean and well-kept, just as you’d expect. There are lots of activities for residents, like exercise classes, Bible study, arts and crafts, Bingo, field trips, manicures, and more. But what really stands out is the staff’s true passion for their residents. Recently, our mother had a doctor’s appointment and needed a ride. Walden not only provided the ride but also went the extra mile. The driver walked her into the doctor’s office, even though she didn’t need it. On the way back, he knew she’d miss lunch, so he brought a lunch menu with him. He ordered everyone’s lunch and made sure it was ready when they got back. When my husband and I were out of town, Mom had to go to the hospital. The staff at Walden stepped up big time. They checked on her every day and kept us updated. When she was released, Walden even picked her up for us. Mom loves living at Walden. She’s made many new friends and tried new things. Her quality of life and health have improved since moving in, and we owe that to the staff at Walden Place. We highly recommend Walden Place to anyone looking for an assisted living facility. It’s a loving and caring environment that will make a big difference in the life of someone you care about.

"Warm, Caring Community with Great Facilities and Staff"

The Walden Place assisted living facility in Cortland, NY, was a great choice for my father. As my mother’s health declined, we had time to look into options for my father’s care. We picked Walden Place because we thought it was better than other places we looked at. Right away, I noticed how pleasant and homey the facility was. The common areas are comfy and inviting, and the rooms are clean and modern. Another standout was the friendly and positive staff. From the administrators to the maintenance crew, and from the caregivers to the dining staff, everyone made us feel welcome. This warm attitude has continued since we arrived. The employees seem proud of their work and the community. It’s reassuring to know my parent is in a safe, supportive environment with activities available if he wants to join in. Medical help is also close by. I would definitely recommend Walden Place.

"So Grateful for the Care at Walden Place"

My 92-year-old father recently moved into Walden Place in Cortland, NY. I’m so happy and relieved to have him surrounded by such caring and skilled staff and friendly residents. Walden Place is in a quiet area but still close to shopping. The place is bright, fresh, and well-decorated. There are lots of activities and outings, and the three daily meals are tasty and healthy. What stands out most to me is the great number and quality of staff, who are always interacting with the residents. They remind everyone about activities, check in twice at night, manage medical appointments, medications, and lab work, and even provide transportation to appointments. This caring approach is much better than the retirement home my dad moved from in Florida. I’m glad he’s now close by and well cared for. I can’t thank Walden Place enough!
