"Great Facility, but Location Wasn't Ideal"
We had a couple of really good tours at Bickford of Middletown. We started with an online tour first. The online tour was different from being there in person, so I'm glad we visited in person too. I got a much better idea of the place when we were actually there. I had a good overall impression of the facility, and I liked the activities they offered. The location was a big factor in our decision, and they were just farther away than we wanted. Also, I liked the woman who led the tour, but she was a little pushy at the end.

"Bickford Assisted Living: Responsive and Nice"
Although not perfect, Bickford is very responsive to family concerns. The rooms and layout are nice. Food was great when served in the dining room, but it’s not as good now that they deliver it to residents’ rooms due to quarantine. Overall, we’re happy with Bickford.

"Great care and compassion in mom’s final days at Bickford"
My mom moved from Hospice to Bickford of Middletown in her final six weeks. The care was really good, and the place was nice. The nurses were especially wonderful during my mom’s last few days. It was the right choice, and both she and our family were treated with respect and kindness.

"Nice Community!"
I liked the tour of this community for my dad. The staff arrived on time for our appointment and answered our questions. The place was clean and had great amenities. But it was too pricey for his budget.

"Unsatisfied With Bickford's Staffing and Additional Costs Incurred"
Really not pleased with this place. We chose Bickford to care for Mom. But in her first week, we ended up hiring an extra caregiver to stay with her over Memorial Day weekend since their staffing was low. On top of what she already pays for a month at Bickford, Mom had to cover the cost of this extra caregiver. She's only been there a week, and we're really hoping things will improve.

"My Visit: Clean, Pet-Friendly Assisted Living"
This place seemed neat and tidy during our visit. It's a bit farther than we'd prefer, but they do allow pets and have on-site nurses.

"My Thought Of The Tour"
I enjoyed visiting this community during my tour. Although it's a bit older, it has a pleasant atmosphere. The staff were friendly, and the director was kind. Some minor updates would benefit the community. Ultimately, it was our second choice.

"Cozy and Welcoming Assisted Living with Great Food and Events"
We had a great time visiting Bickford with [Removed]. It feels really cozy and home-like, especially when you first walk up to the front door. The fairy gardens were a nice touch that we liked a lot! The lunch they served was delicious, and we even got to try a yummy fondue at a party. We'll definitely consider Bickford for the future. Thanks to [Removed] for showing us around!

"Great staff and clean facility with lots of activities"
Bickford of Middletown is a fantastic place. The staff is really friendly and helps residents with whatever they need. They also keep families updated about any changes with their loved ones. The facility is beautiful and very clean. There are many activities every day that residents can join if they want. It’s just a great experience there.

"Lovely Community!"
This place was really nice. The tour was awesome, and the staff gave us tons of helpful info. But the prices need fixing—they’re way too high!

"Solid Staff, Declining Food, But Clean & Active Community!"
The people who work here are great! The only thing is the food has been getting worse lately. They go on outings every other week and do stuff every day. The place is always clean and looks nice. I think it's a good place to live.

"Improved Dining Times!!"
The food takes a bit to come, especially if it's special. Staff talks well with us, very friendly, and attentive. Recommendable place with great people and fun activities.

"Appears to be a wonderful place for your loved one"
The Bickford is a nice place. Even though my mom didn't move in—she passed away a week after we reserved her room—I think she would've liked living there. It's super clean, and the people who live there are friendly. The staff is great too. I've told others about it for their loved ones.

"Dad and His Cat"
My dad is really happy here and loves spending time with his cat. That's why we picked this place. The staff is nice and takes good care of him. His room is always super clean, and I don't even smell the cat litter!

"Unhappy With Services Scant For Heavy Care Needs"
This place wasn't quite right for my dad's special needs. I didn't really like the facility or the staff. The building itself is nice and mostly clean. But the workers didn't pay enough attention to my dad. I think his care needs were too challenging for them. So, if your loved ones need more help than the regular elderly person, I would suggest you avoid this place.

"Person-Centered Assisted Living with Friendly Staff"
This place has really nice people working here, and they pay more attention to each person compared to where I was before. The cost is about the same as other places like this. I wish they'd list out what we're paying for on the bill.

"An Intimate Community of People"
Bickford of Middleton turned out to be a really great place for Mom. She’s still adjusting to the change, but it’s getting easier over time. The staff are friendly and encourage residents to participate in activities and socialize. It’s a smaller community, so we’ve gotten to know almost everyone and their families. The only issue is that laundry mixes everyone’s clothes, so I might end up doing Mom’s laundry myself. Otherwise, things have been great!

"Disappointing Assisted Living Facility with Poor Patient Care"
The outside of this assisted living facility can be deceiving - it looks nice, but the reality is quite disappointing once your loved one is admitted there. Based on my personal experience, the establishment did not live up to its stated offerings. My mother-in-law stayed there for a mere three months and she sadly encountered medication issues. Worst of all, they failed to inform our family right away that she refused to take her meds. Additionally, hygiene was a major concern I noticed during her stay. They barely provided the necessary assistance for bathing, even though we paid extra for this service. It was a fight to get her to bathe, and their approach was that if she resisted, they wouldn't try again until the following week. I confronted them about this, and the nurse admitted that another patient hadn't had a bath in a month. This incident confirmed to me that we chose the wrong facility. If you have a family member here, I strongly advise you to review their patient logs to ensure they are receiving proper care, especially in areas such as bathing.

"Challenging Changeover at Assisted Living Facility"
My mom really enjoyed this place when she first moved in. But once the owners switched, it's been hard for her. Lots of rules have been added and a bunch of workers have quit. We're hoping it will get better and return to the nice, friendly place it was in that first month after her move.

"Quality of Care in Question at Assisted Living Facility"
This place looks decent and the workers are friendly, but I had problems that made me question how good the care is here. My family member had a nasty fall, but no one realized her shoulder was out of place for days. She lived in a room at the far end of a long hallway, and it felt like she wasn't checked on as much as those in easier-to-reach rooms. I also found things wrong with the housekeeping - her bed was often made wrong, missing top sheets or the mattress cover.

"Clean and friendly with happy residents."
The community's location played a big role in our choice. We appreciated the residents' active lifestyle—they weren't just sitting around. The price point mattered to us, and we enjoyed the good food. Other residents and their families seemed happy.

"Assisted Living Facility Prioritizes Looks Over Care, Feels Impersonal"
The place seemed to care more about how it looked rather than taking care of us. It felt too big and fancy, not cozy or welcoming.
