"Clean facility but needs better communication and care"
This place is pretty good and always clean. I visit almost every day. The housekeeping team does a great job. However, the communication is really bad. My loved one can't move on his own, and they won't change his position even though hospice and I have asked them to. He's always lying flat on his back. He can only eat pureed food, which limits his options. They don't have milk, yogurt, ice cream, or dessert, which are his favorites and good for his diet. So, I bring them myself. They also don't keep water for him and only bring it with meals. Since he can't get it himself, I take care of it when I'm there. I've asked for several things, like changing his position and keeping water on his tray, but the nurses don't follow through. Some nurses are very good. Overall, I would recommend this place to friends and family but mention these issues so they're aware. We're pretty satisfied overall.

"Assisted Living Review: Caring Environment and Clean Facilities"
My loved one has early Alzheimer's. Sometimes I worry, but overall, they take good care of her. Her memory is fading, so it's hard to trust what she says. Whenever I visit, they're great. It's better than when she lived at home, a big plus. She has her own room, which I like. It's always clean and doesn't smell, even the bathroom. Her bed is always made nicely, and she looks clean and neat, which matters a lot to me.

"Diverse staff, but concerns about systematic racism."
I think the community is too top-heavy, and there's a lot of turnover in the care staff. I would recommend avoiding it if you are a person of color. Sometimes it feels like there's systematic racism. They don't reach out to the community to address this. Most of the care staff are people of color, but I don't see anyone like me in upper-level administration who I feel comfortable talking to. I do like that the memory care area only has 13 residents.

"Caring Assisted Living with Happy Residents and Helpful Staff"
They do a great job taking care of my dad. They pay attention to his needs and encourage him to stay active and social. Since he now takes his medication on time, he’s doing much better. They also plan activities that residents enjoy, and everyone seems happy and well-cared-for. The staff is friendly and helpful.

"Inadequate Facility for Active Dementia Patients"
This facility wasn't suitable for an active dementia patient. I quickly relocated my beloved.

"Expensive Care, Limited Choices, Nice People"
This place is neat and tidy. However, the options for meals and activities are limited. They do allow pets, but if you're unable to look after them, they'll charge you an extra $500 each month for their care. This feels too expensive. They have a monthly rent and a separate care cost. These costs increase every month. It takes some time to reduce these costs, and sometimes, you might find that some care services are repeated or not even necessary. They also have a high community fee. They put on a good show to attract you, but then you find yourself arguing with them every month about the care cost and unnecessary services. It feels like a bait and switch. The only positives are its convenient location and the friendly people.

"The Assisted Living Costs Soared"
The assisted living facility is tidy and pleasant, with a small community of around 43 residents. The staff is friendly and goes out of their way to assist. However, they initially provide a care price and then add additional costs based on the level of care needed. Currently, they quoted $3200 for the room and $2000 for care. Unfortunately, once you move in, the care costs increase significantly to $5400 per month, which is quite high. Additionally, there's a steep community fee of $2500.

"Renovation Chaos Ruins Brookdale Tour"
When I went to see Brookdale, they were fixing it up. I thought they'd do it bit by bit, but they were redoing everything all at once. It was really noisy and messy with all the construction happening, so it wasn't a good choice for us.

"One Issue with This Community"
I've had one problem with this place since my mom moved here. They won't listen to my brother and me when we say she can't manage her own medicine, but they think she can. Besides that, it's a pretty nice community. It's clean, and the staff is helpful and polite. However, right now, I wouldn't recommend Brookdale Community.

"Review of Memory-Care at Brookdale Englewood - Englewood, OH"
Nice place. My grandpa lived there before. But we picked a different facility for one reason. The memory-care area is small, which is good for my mom's dementia, but it felt cramped.

"Very nice looking place!"
We visited Hearth & Home while exploring care options for a loved one. The new building looked great, very clean, and the staff were friendly. Although Mom didn't choose it, we recommend it as a place worth considering!
