"Serious Problems at Brookdale Kenwood"
Our experience at Brookdale Kenwood started out well. The care was good, the facility was nice, and the food was good. However, as more people moved in, the staffing didn’t adjust. Caregivers and kitchen staff faced more demands. The quality of life for residents has dropped significantly. Three things from the last hour highlight the current conditions: After waiting 45 minutes for lunch in the dining room, I took my mom upstairs and heated up a can of soup. I found out that the Executive Director quit. She sent in her resignation letter and walked out the door. Another new resident was moving in.

"Brookdale Assisted Living Review"
We moved into Brookdale last spring with high hopes. The care was great, and the chef provided good meals in a small dining area. But things changed. More people moved in, and staffing levels stayed the same. Key staff left, and hiring new staff has been tough. The nursing staff is often overloaded, making it hard to meet residents' needs. The dining room is chaotic, with everyone pitching in to cook and serve. There aren't enough aides for the residents, and turnover is high. The main issue? They keep recruiting new residents without getting their house in order.

"Communication, care, billing need improvement; excellent staff"
They could improve communication with families about patient issues. Care plan follow-up varies. Billing is confusing. Facility-wide housekeeping needs improvement. Staff is excellent!

"Modern but Typical Nursing Home"
The facility was more modern and older. It looked like a regular nursing home. They were doing some cosmetic upgrades.

"Facility's False Promises Lead to Cancelled Agreement"
We came close to choosing this assisted living facility for my parents because they told us it would fit our unique needs. They promised us, even the director personally, that my dad could smoke cigars there - we were assured this by many staff members. But when they sent us tons of paperwork for my mom, more than half of it was duplicate pages, and the smoking policy clearly said no smoking. When I asked them about this contradiction, they admitted they don't allow smoking in the facility. Due to this initial dishonesty, we decided not to proceed further.

We toured Brookdale, and it seemed nice at first. We chose another place because Brookdale was farther away than we thought.

I spoke with. Some reviews are quite critical. They provide both assisted living (AL) and memory care (MC) services. They offer different programs for various cognitive abilities.

"Brookdale Kenwood's Poor Care and Dishonest Practices Weakened Dad"
My dad had a really awful time at Brookdale. Right away, they gave him a laxative, even though he didn't need it, and didn't let us know. Because of it, my dad landed in the hospital. Even when I showed evidence, they denied ever giving him these unwanted medications. Moreover, they charged us an extra $850 per month, claiming it was required for two-person lift as he was weak from their initial error! They also kept giving him drugs without informing us about it. They tended to lie, and communication was terrible. The care they provided was minimal and it seemed like they didn’t care at all. We had to move my dad to a different place where they took off three of these needless drugs from his prescription and reduced the dosage of a fourth one. He's so much healthier now! Not to mention, this new place is saving us $2000/month. Brookdale Kenwood was an absolute nightmare for my dad and our family. I will never recommend them to anyone.

"Terrible Overnight Care at Assisted Living Facility"
Though Brookdale Kenwood appears appealing, don't be deceived. My father stayed there for a year and the care was acceptable during the day, but abominable at night. On several occasions, he was left unattended throughout the night, resulting in him remaining in dirty conditions. Truly shameful! The management referred to such mistreatment as a "miss". Our family was expected to be grateful for the nights when he was adequately cared for. Seriously?! The head nurse was terrible. Despite charging us for additional staff, fewer people were actually on duty. Though they were polite to us, they seemed indifferent to the complaints of neglected residents. In this facility, it's crucial to have an advocate and ensure your loved ones are supervised daily. Definitely not trustworthy.

"Amazing Care at Brookdale Kenwood"
My mom broke her hip almost 2 years ago. She has moved a lot because she needed different levels of care. Brookdale Kenwood has been one of the best places. The executive director and activities director are amazing, super helpful, and accommodating. The care and nursing staff are kind, gentle, and take good care of my mom. I highly recommend Brookdale Kenwood.

"Friendly Care"
I visited this place to check it out for my friend's care. The staff was friendly and answered my questions about the services they provide. The meals looked good, and they had plenty of fun activities for the residents. I'd suggest families consider touring this community for their loved ones.

"Don't Fall for Their False Promises"
Our mom used to live here and we're so glad we were able to move her out. We made tons of complaints due to bad smells, not enough workers, and the employees who were there seemed totally lost. Our mom fell so much because no one was watching her properly. The main person in charge said a lot but never fixed anything. We trusted him to make things better, but that never happened. We really regret letting our mom live here. The boss might say they have enough employees, but that's not true. We were tricked and we hope other families don't get tricked too.

"Mixed feelings about Brookdale Assisted Living; room for improvement"
The folks running Brookdale are nice! But it's hard to find enough good helpers everywhere. Some room helpers aren't always as kind and attentive as I'd like. Nurses seem caring, though. Managers listen quick and help fix problems. My mom doesn't join in activities much, even though they encourage it. I switched her from another place, and she seems happier here. But she needs a lot of care because she's very sick. I worry if they can keep up with the care they promised.

"Quick Response Needed"
My first time at Brookdale was pretty good. Only worry is when Mom hits her call button, it takes a bit long for someone to come. We'll keep an eye on this and see how it changes in the next few weeks.

"Brookdale: Good Intentions, Room for Improvement"
Brookdale is trying its best. Some skilled staff members keep things running smoothly for seniors, but there aren't enough staff and they need better training. This leads to unclear communication about care standards. If they improve this, it could be excellent. However, it's a clean and supportive place where resident needs are regularly assessed. They're honest about limitations and willing to discuss needs. Sometimes adjustments are made, sometimes not, but they genuinely care about residents.

"Caring Community with Challenges"
Brookdale Place of Kenwood: A Caring Community My mom stayed in their memory care unit. Here’s what I noticed: PROs: The staff is kind and treats residents with respect. A nurse is available 24/7. There’s a strong sense of community among residents, families, and staff. Problems get resolved, like when a new medical director took over. CONs: Sometimes they were understaffed, affecting resident care. Staff turnover was high during my mom’s stay. Planned memory care activities didn’t always happen. Billing issues were hard to resolve.

"Assisted Living Facility Needs More Care, Less Glamour"
The cost is too high. Kelli was nice, but in the Dementia unit, we found a lady who had fallen off her chair with no one around. If we hadn't come along, she would still be there! Plus, there were several people wandering aimlessly without supervision. My mother needs a quiet space with more available aides and less fancy decorations!

"Overwhelming Neglect and Unending Bed Bug Infestation at Brookdale"
Condemnable Conditions at Brookdale Assisted Living: A Horror Story" If you're scanning the scene for a spot for your beloved family members to shuffle off this mortal coil, Brookdale Assisted Living's triumphantly your choice. The place is downright distasteful. A bad smell rushes you the second you cross the threshold. Ladies confined to wheelchairs seem to be abandoned for hours on end, stuffed away in the corners. After buzzing for assistance, brace yourself for about a two-hour wait. Their nursing staff seems woefully ill-equipped, exceptionally their lead nurse, Pam. She’s practically a ghost. It's rare to spot her attending to patients. If you try to get answers from Dolores, prepare for disappointment, as she behaves as though you're a nuisance. Sherry, supposedly a caregiver, is nothing more than a double-dealer. The facility does have some admirable aides, and they know who they are. It bewilders me how they tolerate working under such appalling administration. To top everything off, a dear friend I visit there has had a foot ulcer since last year's end. I warned them it looked infected, but they brushed off my concerns, assuring me they were on it. Regrettably, they didn't take care of it, and as a result, my friend contracted MRSA. This place screams lawsuit! In despair, we took him directly to the ER and have no plans to return to Brookdale. Oh, and nearly forgotten to mention, they suffer from a persistent bed bug trouble, too.

"Neglected Dad, Unprofessional Staff: Horrendous Experience"
My dad got a serious infection called MRSA because the staff didn't take care of him. He had bed sores that were ignored, he had to wait a long time to get help when he pushed the call button, and either they didn't give him his medicine or it was missing entirely and nobody said anything about it. Terrible, just terrible.

"Care Issues but Improving: A Review of Assisted Living Facilities"
My mom got bad bed sores and ended up in the hospital. We're working with them and hospice to heal them. I don't have specifics if she had them when she arrived, but they got worse there. We had a meeting, things have been getting better since. They promised to prevent it from happening again. We chose it so she wouldn't have to move again, and things are getting better.

"Billing Frustrations at Assisted Living Facility"
The place is pretty clean and the staff is friendly. It's the first time my dad's been in a place like this. He doesn't join activities and isn't doing too well health-wise, but it's not their fault. I think they're trying their best with him. Dealing with their billing is a bit annoying. There was a late charge that I paid, but I keep receiving the same bill with the late fee. I've asked them to fix it, but they haven't yet, and it's frustrating when I receive the bill.
