"Great amenities, needs more hallway handrails"
We picked Brookdale Kettering because it’s convenient and has great amenities. The porch and deck on the apartments are very nice. I think they should add more handrails in the hallways.

"Mixed Feelings at Brookdale Kettering"
We picked Brookdale Kettering in 2022, but it wasn't a good choice. It's not a place we'd suggest for assisted living. They often have trouble keeping good, trained staff and responding quickly to calls from residents in assisted living. I don't think it's managed well. However, the sales director and assistant director are quite good.

After looking at other places, I picked Brookdale. It was the best decision I ever made. The food, help, and service are great for the price.

This community was incredibly welcoming, and we liked it. It was homey, clean and well decorated. The staff was knowledgeable, they knew the resident's names and treated everyone very well. The staff toured us through the community. The studio we saw was just right for our mother.

"Nice Community Tour"
This community is really nice, and the staff did an awesome job during our tour. They took their time to show us everything, and there are lots of amenities for residents to choose from. The rooms are also nice. We definitely recommend taking a tour to see the community firsthand.

"Significant Trouble at Brookdale Kettering with Mother's Care"
I've had to tackle some big problems with my mom's care at Brookdale Kettering since she ended up in the hospital. The health aide they sent didn't come for a week. Despite my mom saying she felt sick, they ignored it until we got involved and my mom had to be taken to the hospital. They didn't provide us with their promised weekly updates and if we knew about the health aide missing, we would've switched services. Now that my mom's back at Brookdale, we're making sure this doesn't happen again. Everything was fine until all this happened. We're now focused on cooperating with Brookdale to guarantee proper care for our mom.

This place was nice and all. The staff was helpful and nice, and they answered all our questions. I just didn't think it was the right place for my wife. It just didn't feel right to me.

"Smooth Transition to Independent Living with Excellent Assistance Available"
The folks at the assisted living place, especially and she, have been awesome! They really care about my family member's well-being since they moved in. They keep me updated and look out for my relative. Shannon and her team are quick to help with any changes in needs, making sure things are just right. They even offer help getting to meals and check on wellness regularly. It makes me feel much better about my family member being there. And the best part? They can adjust the services as needed! My family member loves the food options and going on fun outings. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better place for her to transition from living at home to independent living with some extra support.

"Not My Ideal Living Facility"
The tour of this place was just okay. It looked like they could try harder to keep things looking nice. The guy who showed us around didn't know a whole lot. He couldn't even tell us how much it would cost or what the contract would say. It was an alright look around, but it's not where I'd want to stay.

"Friendly Staff but Unimpressive Facility!"
My family member and I visited this assisted living community and I wasn't impressed. The facility is outdated and doesn't appear well-kept. The lighting isn't sufficient, making the place feel dreary. It has a vibe similar to a trailer park full of mobile homes, as if you're on a camping trip rather than in a care facility. On the bright side, the staff is extremely welcoming and were helpful in responding to my queries.

"Unimpressive Tour; Decent Folks"
During our visit, this place didn't leave a great impression on us. It came across like a converted, outdated motel. It just didn't feel like a place I'd enjoy being. Nevertheless, the residents we ran into were kind.

"Great Place for Mom!"
I totally suggest this place! Brookdale has been awesome for my mom. Everybody who works there is really nice, always ready to help, and they listen to what you need. The food is really good, and there's a lot of different kinds to choose from. They have tons of stuff to do. It's an older place, so some things could use a little fixing up, but they make sure it's always clean.

"Don't Even Leave a Stray Dog Here!"
My grandma's been here for more than a year. We've constantly had problems with her not receiving her medication on time or even at all. They told us to bring her personal hygiene items, even though it's covered by her insurance. We've basically provided all her care. The bed-making, the cleaning - we did it all. But we learned last week from her new case worker that it's not our responsibility -- we're just supposed to visit and spend time with her. But now both the case worker and the director are out of town, and the last three days when we've checked on grandma, we've found her in just a diaper and t-shirt, with food all over her. Nobody had been in her room, yet whoever is supposed to be looking after her had been in and out with her food tray and even took away her call button... After we began complaining, now guess what? They're kicking grandma out... by Monday... today is Thursday... unbelievable! In short, I wouldn't even leave a stray dog here.

"A Pleasant Community with Good Looks"
I believe it's a good-looking place. The food isn't very hot, though. The only issue is that they charge residents for bringing trays to their rooms if they can't walk to the dining area. I don't think they should do that if someone can't physically manage it. It should be optional. Overall, it's a pleasant community. I'd give it 4 stars and recommend it.

"Avoid Grand Court if Care for Loved Ones Needed"
I strongly encourage avoiding Grand Court if you care about your family members who need care. This place isn't something I'd wish on my worst enemy. While it may be okay for someone who doesn't need help, I found they aren't equipped to care for someone with dementia, despite their claims. They said they would provide lots of help, but I saw different. They hardly checked on him. Most times we visited, his room was disorganized and he looked dirty. There were medication mistakes which could have been easily avoided if they'd just called us. He started declining quickly here, both physically and mentally. After we moved him to another place, he improved. Please, think twice about this place.

"Affordable assisted living with extras, but additional care costs."
This assisted living place costs $2,200 a month, which includes two meals a day, housekeeping, scheduled rides, and water and trash service. They're offering a special discount of $500 a month until July, but after that, the regular price applies. If you need extra care, you'll have to pay more for it.

"Not Quite What Mother Wants"
This place seemed nice, but we didn't like how the dining room was right by the front door. It got confusing trying to find our way around, and even the lady showing us got lost. Unfortunately, it's not the one Mother wants.

"Patio Access and Friendly Staff Make Grand Court Decent Choice"
Grand Court worked out well for my Dad. It's not the fanciest place I checked out, but each unit having its own patio was a big plus for us. The staff has been really nice and helpful. We chose to move Dad to respite care first before his permanent unit. I was a little let down by the respite room; it felt more like a B-grade hotel room. But, for now, it's doing the job for us.

"Comfortable, homey, and safe!"
The apartments are a good size and have nice screened patios. The staff is very friendly and has helped my mom feel comfortable. Of all the places I toured, this one felt the most like home. Plus, the whole facility is on one level, which makes evacuation easier if needed. I would recommend Grand Court to anyone.

"Staff turnover a concern at this assisted living facility"
My family member lived here independently at first. As her needs grew, we considered assisted living, but we weren't satisfied with what we saw. They had a lot of staff changes, which bothered me.

"Comfortable and welcoming, with a few drawbacks, but overall positive experience."
This place is nice and the people are friendly. The rooms are just the right size, and I especially like the small kitchen in the one-bedroom apartment. However, the open room is quite far from the dining area. Since my mom is blind and has trouble with balance, this is not ideal. On the bright side, the screened porch is a huge bonus!

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The people working there were really nice. The building seemed old-fashioned. It was neat and had lots of space. I didn't like how they kept independent and assisted living separate. They said they'd assess my mom and share the results with other places.

"Nice facility, residents secluded due to illness. Informative visit."
The parts we toured looked really nice. We couldn't meet any residents because they were in their rooms because of a stomach virus that's been around for a week. The nurse thought it might be ending since there were no new cases, but we have to wait for 72 hours. We did get an information packet and talked to a staff member.
