"Mixed review: caring staff, small facility, billing issues, great nurses"
The staff cares, but changes a lot. Food is decent; place small. Nurses are great. Billing errors post-assessment. Mom receives needed care .

"Brookdale: A Unique Assisted Living Choice"
I chose Brookdale because it's smaller. If dementia worsens, she can stay in her room unless she becomes violent or tries to escape. When her money runs out, after 2 years of private pay, she can still be on Medicare. No one else offered this. I'm happy with Brookdale.

"Staff changes, but good care and activities"
They've had some staff changes, but they try their best to take care of Mom. It would be tough if we weren't there a lot or if we didn't have hospice help. They offer activities like Bingo, book club, trivia, outings, a library, and volunteers who bring communion and chat or pray. They're easy to talk to if you have problems, but they don't tell you about issues they see. Mom seems to be settling in, but it took almost 4 months.

"Older Assisted Living Facility Gets Mediocre Review from Visitor"
I visited this place, and I wasn't too impressed. It's old. The staff wasn't very friendly, and it didn't seem very clean. Overall, I just didn't feel good about it.

""Disappointing and Dirty: Overpriced Assisted Living Facility""
I heard this place is now under new management. No way would I fork over the kind of cash they're asking for! The carpets were super dirty everywhere! If they can't even keep things clean, how could I trust them to look after my family member? I'm shocked they even let me see how rundown this place is. That website, A Place for Mom, should do their own check on this place before they go recommending it.

"Friendly Staff and Convenient Layout; Mixed Dining Experience"
The salespeople were really friendly when we first visited. The nursing home isn't too big—it's only on the first floor. But the meals and dining services are sometimes good and sometimes not so good for our loved one.

"Caregiver Curses About Residents, Management Unresponsive"
We got to enter the building not long ago and the only thing we could hear was the caretaker swearing about another resident. I definitely wouldn't suggest this place. We've told the folks in charge about this before and she's still allowed to work here.

"Great Staff, Easy Move, and Excellent Care for My Dad"
The staff were amazing. Moving in was really easy. The executive director was helpful and took care of everything. The wellness coordinator did a fantastic job with my dad’s assessment and remembered him, which meant a lot to me. There were always activities happening whenever I visited. My dad really liked the care staff, even though he usually didn’t like many people. He was a very picky eater, but the dining staff worked hard to give him choices and meet his needs.

"Mixed Feelings about Brookdale Springdale Assisted Living"
I like how small Brookdale Springdale is and how they take good care of my step-mom. The rooms are nice and feel like home. But I’m bummed about the food. They said it’s homemade, but it’s not. Breakfast is good, but other meals could be better with more veggies and salads. I get that it’s small, but more choices would be nice. Getting in and out is a hassle too, and the sign-in sheet needs fixing. Despite that, it’s perfect for my step-mom. She wanted a cozy place, and the staff is super helpful. They even let us plant tomatoes and set up a birdfeeder. Overall, it’s a great place!

"Good Care, Gloomy Spaces, Few Men"
The helpers and care at this place seem really good, but the rooms and places where everyone hangs out are kind of gloomy, old, and honestly, they make you feel sad. I also saw that there weren’t many guys living here.

"Nice, accessible, friendly, handles more health issues."
This place is very nice. It's easy to get to and quiet. The staff is super friendly and the living area is great for wheelchairs. It's a bit more expensive than the last place I visited, but they can handle more health problems.

"Brookdale Springdale: Lost Its Old Charm"
I’m not really a fan of Brookdale Springdale. It used to be called Sterling House a long time ago, and it was a great spot. I knew folks who lived there, and it’s too bad Brookdale didn’t keep things the way they were. I can’t tell if it’s the people running the place or something else, but it just feels outdated. It might need a fresh look or maybe the workers should be cheerier. Either way, it didn’t wow me.

"Brookdale Springdale Falls Short"
I don't like Brookdale Springdale at all. It used to be called Sterling House, which was a great place. I knew people who lived there, and it's a shame that Brookdale didn't keep things the same. The facility feels old, and maybe they need to update it or improve the staff's attitude. Overall, I wasn't impressed.

"Mixed Feelings About Dad's Assisted Living Community"
I want to share that the community where we put my dad is unlike any other. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all our questions during the tour. The building is clean, and the outside looks nice. However, there's an intangible feeling that bothers me.

"Unpleasant Environment at Assisted Living Facility Despite Helpful Staff"
This place felt more like a nursing home. The lobby was dimly lit and it was difficult to enter or exit. The reception was not welcoming. The residents did not seem sociable or talkative, just gazing blankly. The place smelled bad. I would not think of staying here. Despite everything, was helpful and provided good information.

"Amazing staff and great care for my mom!"
The staff have been amazing while my mom adjusts. They are caring, understanding, and always available. I often visit her and encourage her to join in on the many activities and meals. The cook prepares a variety of delicious foods and handles special dietary needs. The activities coordinator is very supportive, not condescending. My mom enjoys her manicure days and the hairdresser on-site. She has a great doctor who remembers everyone's name and is very friendly. Plus, small pets are allowed if residents can care for them.

"Room Comfortable, Staff Friendly, Meals Disappointing Making New Friends!!"
My family member's been much better here. Staff's nice but sometimes grumpy. Meals are a letdown, small portions, same old sandwiches. Wish for more variety. Room's cozy, and she's made pals.

"Affordable, Yet Crowded and Unimpressive Assisted Living Facility"

"Lacked Sufficient Care"
My mom needed more care than the nurse thought at Brookdale Springdale. She was there for 2 and 1/2 weeks, and things went downhill. The facility seemed clean, and the staff were friendly, but it wasn't a good fit for her.

"You Knew Better"
When I first contacted SH, I explained the care my boyfriend needed. I thought they could provide it, but they weren't prepared. He had a restricted diet, but they didn't follow it. Important daily routines were neglected. Some staff members were impatient when I raised concerns. All of this happened in just 5 days before he ended up back in the hospital. Instead of skilled care, he got more like assisted living. It seemed like this facility was better suited for people with dementia or Alzheimer's. This was my first experience, and I didn't know any better.

"Mom is happy with her stay and the helpful staff"
My mom is really liking her time here so far. Sarah, the person in charge, has been great at helping her with paperwork and talking to the doctor. The place seems like a good match. This review is not about my own experience but my mom’s. It reflects my honest opinion based on our many talks.

"Finding Sterling House"
With help from "A Place for Mom," we found several senior communities for our brother-in-law. After touring all the places, Sterling House stood out. It's close to my brother's home, saving him time and money on visits. Sterling House allows our brother-in-law to keep three of his cats in his apartment and offers pet care. There's a safe outdoor courtyard where he can go whenever he wants. Sterling House is small, with only 29 apartments, which suits our brother-in-law's personality better than a big place. They also have a 12-apartment memory care community if needed. Sterling House can often keep residents in their regular apartments even if they need significant memory care, and they offer end-of-life care. My brother and I were impressed with the cleanliness, how easy it is to get around, and the friendly staff. We hope this place works out well for our brother-in-law and that he will be happy there. We feel assured he will be well cared for.

"Sterling House: A Better Brokedale Alternative"
I really liked Sterling House. It’s similar to Brokedale but smaller, and the parking is much better. When we decide on Assisted Living for my Mom, this is probably where we’ll choose.
