"Great staff, no rats, and quick help for residents"
These bad reviews come from a fired employee. I know they wrote at least three of them. Caldwell House is really nice. The staff and nurses work very hard. There are no rats, employees always stay with residents in the dining room, and nurses quickly help residents who feel unwell. We treat the residents like family. Every facility goes through changes, but these negative reviews are not true.

"LPN"
These negative reviews were written by a former employee who was unhappy after being fired. I know this ex-employee wrote at least three of these reviews. Caldwell House is really nice. The staff, including the girls and nurses, work very hard. There have never been rats there, and the employees don't leave residents alone in the dining room. When residents aren't feeling well, the nurses help them right away. We treat the residents like family. Every facility goes through changes and seasons, but these negative reviews were simply untrue.

"Not Quite Right: Caldwell House Tour"
I had an okay tour of Caldwell House. The place was nice, and the people who showed us around were friendly and helpful. However, it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. I found another place that suited our needs a bit better.

"Not Recommended"
Our experience at this place wasn't good. They didn't give us the services we paid for, and their care program needs improvements. I wouldn't recommend this community.

"Abhorrent Care and Sanitation at Expensive Assisted Living Facility"
The staff at this assisted living facility are disrespectful and indolent. The establishment is unsanitary; the dining room is particularly distasteful. Food is served, and the staff, including the facility director, suddenly become absent for a significant amount of time. This abandonment could be hazardous if a resident was to experience a choking incident or possibly a fall. Kitchenware is unclean and there is a lack of interest from the employees to provide clean alternatives. If your loved one is too ill to join others in the dining room, it's a toss-up as to whether they will receive a meal. Unless, of course, you opt to pay an additional fee for an assistant to deliver food to them. This seems unreasonable considering the monthly fees already amount to $3,700. Should your loved one fall sick requiring medical assistance, chances of a nurse or aide visiting for a check-up is not guaranteed. On the subject of laundry services: it's possible that it's only done once in a month. Honestly, this place isn't suitable even for pets let alone human inhabitation. Not a single member of the staff exhibits friendliness whatsoever. I strongly urge you to reconsider before entrusting this place with the care of your beloved. Beware of the insincere cordiality they might initially portray, truthfully, they're more interested in your money than the well-being of your loved ones.

"Avoid This Disappointing Facility At All Costs – Truly Abysmal!"
The staff here is shockingly discourteous and notoriously slothful. The entire facility fails to uphold cleanliness standards, and in particular, the dining room is unspeakably filthy. Meals are served only to be abandoned immediately afterwards by staff members, often leaving your dear ones unattended for excessive lengths of time, even including the center's manager. This lax attitude poses a serious risk, especially if a resident were to experience a choking incident or a sudden fall. The condition of the dishes utilized notably reflects the poor hygiene of this facility. Despite visibly dirty dishes, there appears to be no efforts on the part of the staff in supplying clean ones. To add insult to injury, the provision of meals for sick residents is not a guarantee. You might be forced to dish out additional fees to have an aide deliver food. With monthly costs running up to $3,700, it seems baffling as to why an extra charge would be necessary for such a basic service. If your loved one falls ill, anticipate the hardships in procuring nurse or aide services. As for the laundry service, its frequency seems to be limited to just once a month. Frankly, these neglectful conditions are below par for even a canine. The staff's demeanor is genuinely unfriendly across the board. Therefore, think thoroughly before deciding to register your loved ones with this facility. It is essential to not be swayed by their deceptive charm and duplicitous promises, as their primary objective seems to be monetary rather than concerning the well-being of your loved ones.

HORRIBLE COMMUNITY
" "Avoid Caldwell House: Low Pay, High Turnover, and Poor Conditions""
Caldwell House—Huge Problems Ahead! Workers here get paid peanuts, hardly more than minimum wage. That leads to lots of folks quitting quickly. They even have to bring in a staffing agency because they run out of staff all the time. Different people will be taking care of your family member because of this. Nurses are in the same boat—very, very low pay. Because of that, they quit too. They usually don't stick around longer than 3 months! The big boss is brand new and doesn't know what they're doing. A bunch of other managers got canned after they got the job. The rest of the staff is always stressed out thinking they might get the ax next. The families are always annoyed because the bills come out wrong. The food's crummy. The house is old-fashioned. There are always mice and rats running around—you'll see lots of rat traps. Do yourself a favor and look somewhere else. This place has been getting worse for a long time.

HORRIBLE COMMUNITY
"AVOID CALDWELL HOUSE AT ALL COSTS"
Caldwell house faces many problems! To start, they underpay their employees a lot! Aides are given just above the minimum wage which causes a lot of people to quit. Right now, they're asking help from a hiring agency because they can't keep their staff. That means your family members will always be taken care of by different caregivers. The Nurses get the same treatment. The pay is just too low which brings about more resignations. They don't have workers staying longer than 3 months!!!! The Director is new to the role without any prior experience. Loads of managers have lost their jobs ever since she came in charge. The employees are always on edge around her because they're never sure if they'll be next. Family members are always annoyed because they mess up the billing. The food is really bad. The building is old. There's always rodents in the house. (You'll see lots of rat traps all around the community) You should do yourself a favor and look for other places. It's been clear that this community has been doing worse for a while now.

"Staff Turnover and Chaos at Assisted Living"
My family member experienced numerous difficulties while at Caldwell House in Troy. The ENTIRE personnel changed and for many months, everything was in disarray. Their way of billing was challenging to comprehend and appeared imprecise. There was lackluster staffing on weekends and holidays, notably for those residents needing help with dressing and personal care. The meals provided were just mediocre. The staff seemed to be making an effort, but they were understaffed most of the time. I cannot recommend this establishment.

"Mixed Bag at Assisted Living Facility"
This place isn't great. Most of the staff don't know how to handle elderly residents. I've witnessed some strange things. However, there are a few wonderful staff members, like the girl who leads activities and most of the nurses. When staff openly complains about basic care tasks, it's time for them to find a different job.

"Subpar Staffing Dampens Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
This place is really not super. A lot of the staff just aren't prepared to handle aging adults, or they simply don't seem to know how to go about it. I've witnessed all sorts of wild stuff. Some members of the staff are truly awesome, especially the gal who organizes the events - she's amazing with the residents, and so are most of the nurses. When staff openly grumbles about having to care for someone, brush their teeth, deal with their hygiene or tackle their laundry, (which is a whole other can of worms), then they seriously need to reconsider their job choice.
