"Limited Communication and Transition Challenges in Memory Care Unit"
Our family member is in the memory care unit, but due to COVID, we haven't seen her for a while. We don't hear much from the caregivers except when she falls or when we discuss needed supplies. It's a confusing time, so it's hard to know what's happening exactly. Recently, she was moved to a new room, but we couldn't assist with the move or help set up her things.

"Carriage Court: High Turnover and Subpar Care at Aged Facility"
I just moved out of Carriage Court. It might be okay for folks who can handle their personal stuff without assistance. But if you rely on someone else to help with restroom use or taking baths and stuff, it's better to find another place. Folks working here seem to change like the weather, with new faces popping up all the time. It's like some medical workers aren't even trained or have a license. If you ever ate in your 3rd grade school cafeteria and thought it was good, then you'll probably enjoy the food served here. The building is old and has costly repair needs. Once, both elevators stopped working at the same time. If you could use the stairs, it wasn't such a big deal. They didn't operate a bus service for quite a few months. Despite having a new bus parked out back, they couldn't use it because of "leasing issues". If you ask me, the folks in charge seem to do their best to sort things out, but it seems like they have been handcuffed by difficult circumstances.

"Unanswered Calls for Refund at Assisted Living"
At first, I believed this place was a smart pick for my mom. But after she died, they owed her money back. I’ve tried reaching out to the people in charge, like the head honcho and the money folks. I’ve phoned and sent emails more than four times across three weeks, but nobody’s gotten back to me. Not a single word. They’re supposed to return quite a bit of cash, about $2,500. I’m not around Cincinnati; actually, I’m over 400 miles from the home. If I were closer, I’d just park myself in their front room until someone chatted with me.

"Friendly staff and great activities for residents"
We are very happy with Carriage Court for my wife's mom. The staff, from the Executive Director to the caregivers, are all friendly. They explained everything well during our visit and home assessment. The daily activities are fun and varied, with different themes. They also helped move my mother-in-law to a better room. She has made friends and adjusted well, which has been a big relief for us.

"Considerate Staff Exit Leads to Swift Decline in Care Quality"
My dad was a resident at Carriage Court of Kenwood for about two and a half years. Everything was okay as long as a certain staff member, whose name I won't mention, was around. When my dad was shifted to the third floor, I had to constantly remind them to give him showers, which they were reluctant to do. This place was a reasonable choice for my dad until the aforementioned staff member left. Their departure brought about a swift decline in the facility's quality since they truly loved the residents and treated them with respect. The new Director of Nursing, a young girl, seems to have a thirst for power. She appears to enjoy controlling residents and pushing them around, without showing much regard for their individual needs. Other family members have reported many cases of bed sores among the residents. Thankfully, my dad didn't have any because he was quite self-sufficient for the most part, except for needing help with showers. The new Director tried to place my dad in a locked unit simply because he would wander downstairs at night, though he didn't go outside or into others' rooms. Despite me resisting, she forcefully ejected him. Oddly enough, they never updated his records from when he first moved in. They still listed him as being on a pureed diet and too weak to do anything, although my dad ate whatever he wanted. This made it tough to relocate him because facilities hesitated to accept him. To make matters worse, while I was hunting for a new place, the management started treating him poorly, like feeding him pork even though they knew he didn't eat it. I'm relieved to have my dad out of such a place.

"Poor Maintenance and Rude Staff at Assisted Living Facility"
The upkeep here is terrible, despite countless complaints. One staff member claims that a work order has been filed, while another asks what the issue is with the item. They get cranky when we ask for updates. Simple fixes can take months to get done around here.

"A Decent Assisted Living Facility with Some Room for Improvement"
I visited this place. It looked nice and the guides were helpful. But it seemed a bit old-fashioned. It wasn't as tidy as some other spots I've seen, but it was okay. I guess that's because it's older. The rooms were spacious, and the atmosphere was cheerful. The folks we chatted with seemed content.

"Care Challenges at Carriage Court"
The most surprising thing we’ve noticed is that many of the caregivers at Carriage Court come from outside agencies, not directly employed by Carriage Court. This causes problems with coordination and communication. Simple things like visitors ringing the doorbell for elevator codes aren’t always shared with agency aides—they often don’t know what the bell means. Sometimes, the nurse (usually from an agency) leaves evening meds on a table for families to give, but we’ve asked them to handle it. Appointments and outings get delayed or canceled because the facility’s schedule isn’t communicated to the aides. Basic tasks like laundry, room cleaning, and keeping toilet paper available aren’t top priorities. Dietary restrictions aren’t consistently followed. Management apologizes but struggles to fix these issues due to lack of awareness and accountability. It’s concerning, especially since our loved one is there daily. This challenges the idea that being present daily ensures quality care. We worry about residents without frequent family visits.

"Clean facility with activities, cost clarification needed."
The facility was clean and well-lit. Mom liked the weekly Masses and Rosary. Activities were emphasized. The quoted monthly cost differed from the brochure. We'll clarify costs.

"Mixed feelings about evening staff at assisted living facility"
My mom recently moved to this assisted living facility, and it’s still a work in progress. She feels safe here, but I have some worries about the night staff. One evening, a nurse called me around eight o'clock and handed the phone to my mom. She claimed my mom had sun-downers, but I know that’s not true; she just stays up a bit later. It bothered me that she tried to convince me otherwise. The evening staff could definitely improve. Hopefully, they address my concerns soon.
