Elmcroft of Sagamore Hills

"Impressive assisted living with friendly staff, minor staffing concerns."
We chose Elmcroft of Sagamore Hills because it's close to his home, which he knows well. We needed a place quickly, and they made a great first impression, so we chose them. I've been impressed with the size of his room; he has a view of the garden and the parking lot, which is just right for his needs. The staff here are amazing, although they do seem to be short-staffed. My father-in-law eats a lot, and he never complains about the food; it's chef-prepared meals. I would recommend it to others who are looking.

"Assisted Living Not Medicaid Friendly"
We were told they accepted Medicaid, but they didn't. The place is okay, some staff are nice, but they relied too much on our family. If you need help affording it, try somewhere else.

"Unsanitary and unorganized facility with hefty costs"
My dad had to stay here until I located somewhere better. Several times, the kitchen was out of breakfast foods like eggs, milk, and fruit. The workers never wore hair nets in the kitchen. The entire place smelled strongly of urine. For months, there weren't any staff to take care of activities. There were also problems with fleas. Residents would sleep on the lobby sofas while wearing dirty and wet underwear. Despite all this, the place actually charges more than other facilities.

"Unsanitary Conditions and Poor Memory Care in Assisted Living Facility"
This place is dirty and smells bad. The Memory Care unit isn't good. It smells bad, and people sit in dirty clothes. The chairs are dirty too.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short in Staff Care"
In recent years, the care here went downhill. Staff prefer texting over helping residents. My family's let down. Staff changes are normal, but new ones seem indifferent.

"Struggles with Communication, But Safe Environment for Dad"
This is my first time dealing with assisted living, so I don’t have anything to compare it to. The facility has many independent services like physical therapy, a hair salon, visiting doctors, and a pharmacy. However, communication can be tricky because there’s no easy way to contact these services individually. Having just one main phone number for questions leads to third-party communication errors. The aides and nurses handle everything, but there are so many of them, and turnover makes consistent care challenging. Management should create an online communication system to consolidate information for families. Despite these issues, I’m thankful that my father is in a safe environment with help for daily needs like dressing, housekeeping, entertainment, and nutrition.
