"Disappointing Experience at Ohio Living Assisted Living Facility"

My mom's been at Ohio Living for almost four years. It's been pretty bad. The managers are awful and don't listen to us when we suggest things or complain. They always blame the residents instead of fixing problems or meeting our needs. The food is terrible. They give us lots of processed foods and sandwiches, and they don't make meals for seniors with specific diets like my diabetic mom. Her health has gotten worse because they won't give her better food. They don't even have a nutritionist. They treat everyone the same, even though we all have different needs. They can't keep good staff. They hire a bunch of young kids who don't know how to treat seniors properly. Some of them are really rude. They have a lot of turnover, and the service is not worth the high prices they charge. They're unfair to residents and don't make any upgrades to the property.

"Great Choice for Seniors!"

Out of all the places I checked out, this one seems like the best fit for me. They make sure we know what’s going on, but communication could improve. I’d suggest this community to others.

"Avoid Ohio Living Llanfair: Poor Care and Lack of Empathy"

I remember how difficult it was trying to find the right space for my loved one to live. Regrettably, I didn't really evaluate my options thoroughly before making my decision. I foolishly focused only on location, missing out on proper research. My loved one started in the Rehab section, allowed to remain even though she was physically and mentally unable to engage in rehab. This was a positive thing as they could've moved her to another room. But her care quality wasn't good. The overseeing nurse appeared friendly but always gave the impression of being too busy to answer my concerns. The nurse who was actually taking care of my loved one was perhaps the most uncaring and disrespectful person I've come across. She barely talked unless spoken to and always responded rudely. She also had this air of superiority. Not to mention the Day shift nurse, who was even worse—the Rehab unit social worker was unsympathetic, unkind, and dismissive. I was shocked at her consistent failure to follow through. Despite numerous requests for her help with my loved one's paperwork, she kept dropping the ball. It took her more than a month to fill out a simple form. When my loved one passed away, (She received Hospice Care that was exceptionally good) Ohio Living Llanfair wasted no time in sending the final bill; however, they didn't provide one word of sympathy or condolence for her passing. I expected a card to come later; it never did. It's been four months since she passed. I’ve now let go of any hope. We should never feel extra stress when choosing a facility to care for our loved ones in their last days due to a glaring lack of care and empathy. I can't honestly recommend Ohio Living Llanfair.

"Abysmal Care at Assisted Living Facility; Negligence Abounds"

It's shocking how awful this place is. Truly, deeply upsetting. My dad has waited two weeks without a doctor's visit, despite recovering from an operation. He now has TWO bed sores. The medical team seems utterly clueless...even after we informed them, filed a report, and requested a doctor or wound specialist. They couldn't explain simple procedures about recording incidents and contacting doctors. They literally didn't have an answer for, "How do you alert the doctor when a patient needs attention?" They had NO answer for that! The food here is terrible. My father has had years of hospital meals—he's worked in a hospital for 35 years—he isn't fussy about food, he's always been okay with it. If he's calling it "terrible" paired with a curse word, it's undeniably bad. He's been left for hours each night sitting in his own waste (he can't move without help) and no one came to help him until morning, even though there were several calls to nurses and cries for help when no one showed up. His medication regiment is all messed up. He has lost so much weight. This place is an atrocious way for someone to slowly fade away. Honestly, if we weren't visiting daily to check on him, he might be gone already. Two weeks. That's all it took. This place should feel ashamed.

"Urban Setting Excessive for Presbyterian Assisted Living"

The location is overly urban for a Presbyterian assisted living facility.

"Good Tour, But Not the Right Fit"

I visited this place for my dad. My tour guide was on time and very nice. She showed me around the whole community, and everything looked good. I just didn't think it was the right place for my dad and his needs. But overall, the tour was a good experience.

"Welcoming Community with Responsive Staff and Delicious Meals!"

My dad's getting used to his new home. Other folks there are really helpful, getting him involved in fun stuff. The workers are super friendly. Whenever there's an issue, maintenance fixes it fast. The food's yummy, but they only serve two meals a day. It'd be better if they added another meal or extended the dining times to fit everyone's schedules.

"Llanfair's Careless Caregiving Caused Fall, Broken Ankle, and Hospitalization"

Llanfair's staff was seemingly uninterested and skipped essential physical therapy. Despite claims otherwise, my family member could hardly manage to take eight strides without tumbling, a clear indication that there was no progress. Llanfair deceitfully reported to the health provider that she had stabilized, which wasn't the case. For about the first two weeks, her physical therapy was completely neglected, although it was supposedly covered by her insurance. By day 20, her full insurance coverage was drained. Llanfair's false report to the insurance company played a significant role in this. They discharged her to go home where she fell, breaking her ankle in two places. Her health further deteriorated, leading to her being admitted to the hospital within four days of getting out of Llanfair. We swore to never again rely on them due to this absolute nightmare.

"Trust Broken After Llanfair's Care Failure"

The caretakers at Llanfair didn't do their jobs well. My family member never got to the point where they could walk more than 8 steps without falling, even though Llanfair told the doctors otherwise. For the first two weeks, there was no physical therapy at all. After 20 days, insurance stopped covering for treatments. Llanfair reported falsely to the doctors about the situation. After being sent home, my family member fell and broke her ankle in two spots. Her health was so bad that, within four days, she had to go to the hospital. We're never trusting Llanfair again.

"Mixed feelings about assisted living: Great location, room, unclear finances."

The place is in a good spot, and my room is just the right size. I'm glad they have the option to add a dishwasher. But I'm a bit confused about how they handle the money part of things. They don't make it very clear what you need to get in.

"Superb Spot with Lots of Space, Vague on Entry Cost"

The place is in a superb area with spacious rooms and I love the option to install a dishwasher! But it's not exactly clear what's needed financially for entry...

"Toured Friday - May 16, 2014: Impressive but Restrictive"

I visited the facility on Friday, May 16, 2014. I was quite impressed with it, but it felt more restrictive than what my husband and I want at this stage of our lives.
