"Terrible Facility: Poor Cleanliness and Unacceptable Insurance Tampering"
My grandma had to go to this place for rehab. The place is old, stinky and grimy. They only cleaned my grandma's room once or twice and they never cleaned the bathroom, even when there was poop in it. The nurses and helpers were kind but they took forever to answer. My nana would press the call button and would have to wait a really long time for anyone to come. But the absolute worst thing was that someone at the place messed with her insurance coverage without asking us first and weirdly, they did it during the week when insurance could be changed. Some of the nurses knew what they were doing and were helpful and others just didn't seem to get simple stuff. I would not want anyone to send their loved ones to this place. We got a camera put in the room and it broke our hearts seeing our nana trying to get comfortable in bed waiting for someone to come help her change her diaper. PLEASE DON'T SEND ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT TO THIS PLACE.

"Poor Communication and Care at This Assisted Living Facility"
I moved my Mom into this home startin. I really thought it would be a good move, but it ended up being a nightmare. It felt like pulling teeth every time I tried to get a hold of the staff on the phone. The staff also misled me about what was going on with my mom - the transportation, changing her catheter, and testing her pee. Plus, her room was often dirty. I get that the pandemic caused a lot of problems and staff changes, but we still had a really bad time. I absolutely wouldn't push anyone to put their loved one here.

"Renovated Healthcare Center with Caring Staff"
The healthcare center's recent renovations are great, and the new staff genuinely care about residents. The lovely neighborhood setting adds to the appeal.

"Unhappy with misleading photos, poor food, shifting ownership, and understaffed conditions."
The pictures all show the stunning manor, NOT the Assisted Living or Nursing section. The meals served here are below par. This place has been sold and bought multiple times in the last few years, hoping for better, but it only gets worse. A lot of the dedicated long-standing employees have moved on to greener pastures. The present staff are burdened with too much work because they don't adequately fill the roles required for the level of care needed by the residents. This place used to be really great with enough hands on deck for all the residents. Not so much anymore. Take a look around yourself, it's pretty disheartening.

"Save Your Time. It's Not Worth It."
The pictures only show the pretty mansion, not the Assisted Living or Nursing section where everyone stays. The food is bad. This place has been bought and sold multiple times in the last few years in hopes of making it better, but it just keeps getting worse. Most of the employees that were here for a long time have left for better jobs. A lot of the staff that is here now is overworked because they don't hire enough people to take care of all the residents properly. It used to be a good place with a lot of staff to help residents, but not anymore. Go check it out for yourself and you'll see. It's really sad.

"Scarlet Oaks: Looks Can Deceive and Disappointment Thrives"
Scarlet Oaks disappoints with poor upkeep and lack of amenities." Most of the reviews I've seen don't match what I've experienced. For starters, Scarlet Oaks is really old. The facility's images mainly showcase an unoccupied, old mansion next to the actual health center and retirement community. You won't find any pictures showcasing the real rooms and apartments. The place, in general, is in shoddy condition. Most of the windows are so grubby that one can barely see through them. Yet, repairs or replacements only happen when a new person moves in, which isn't a frequent occurrence. Dust engulfs the place, and the carpets are dilapidated and uneven in places of heavy foot traffic. Most of the built-in air conditioners don't work properly; they're outdated. Also, most of the hallway air conditioners don't function at all. The assisted living area comes with large, exposed pipes and window air conditioners are fitted in the tiny bathrooms rather than the rooms. More so, the lounge area blinds are filthy, broken, and don't work, just like the grimy windows. There's been a continual departure of management staff, creating major gaps in resident care and oversight. As a matter of fact, there's been no activity director or individual properly managing activities. Plus, the bus for resident outings didn't have air conditioning all summer. Staffing here is subpar across the board, including housekeeping. The dietary department fails to offer any specific diet program matching health problems, which is a letdown considering numerous residents are diabetic. Also, all food is brought in processed. Accessibility is another issue. There's hardly any opportunity for residents with wheelchairs or walkers to enjoy the outdoors — they've limited places to walk unless they opt for the road. Also, the entrance sidewalk is ridden with large cracks and holes.

"Avoid Scarlet Oaks Assisted Living: New Management Neglects Quality"
Be cautious of the new management at Scarlet Oaks. Since they took over, the quality has dropped significantly. Some staff try to compensate, but the focus seems to be solely on making money. The corporation running Scarlet Oaks, Platinum Healthcare, prioritizes profit over care. Their website seems fake, and getting through on the phone is difficult. Temporary staff are not helpful, especially at night. Management is poor, and it's evident that it's a profit-driven facility. Avoid putting your loved ones here; they prioritize money over care. Night shifts are particularly problematic; I couldn't reach my mother after being put on hold for 30 minutes. The change in management has turned a once-great place into a nightmare. Avoid Scarlet Oaks, especially the skilled nursing side.

"Beware Money-Hungry Management At 'Scarlet Oaks Assisted Living'"
Watch out for the new leaders who only care about money. Ever since they took charge, things at the old folks' home have gone straight downhill. There are some employees who try to make up for all the things that have gotten worse. The company that owns Scarlet Oaks, the old folks' home, only cares about making money. The website of Platinum Healthcare is not real. When I tried calling their main phone number, a machine answered. They have temporary workers who aren't any good. Some of the regular workers try to make things better, but the new leaders are no good. This is a place that only cares about making money. Don't put your family members in this home. It makes money off of your family's struggle. The temporary workers (there are too many of them) can't do their jobs well, especially the ones who work at night. I tried to call to talk to my Mum, but they put me on hold for so long that I finally gave up and hung up 30 minutes later. Changing the leaders has turned a great place for old folks into a total nightmare. Don't put your family in Scarlet Oaks, especially in the part of it where they care for people who are really sick.

"Older facility, friendly staff, but maintenance and amenities lacking."
We checked out this place while trying to find a good spot for our family member's care. It's one of the older places we visited, and it didn't look like it was taken care of very well. The room they showed us was kinda small, had one of those air conditioners in the window, and there were pipes showing in the bathroom. We just didn't think it would be comfy enough for Mom. But on the bright side, the people working there were all nice and seemed to care a lot.

"Aged Structure, Yet Staff Is Warm And Concerned"
We visited this place when we were exploring care options for a family member. It was one of the more aged facilities we observed, and it didn't look well-kept. The room they displayed was not very spacious, featured a window-based AC unit, and had visible plumbing in the bathroom. It didn't appear like a space where Mom would feel at ease. Nevertheless, the staff came across as extremely warm and concerned.

"Falling Standards Drive Residents Away"
I arrived at S.O. full of optimism. The apartment was roomy and colored according to my liking. I was given the impression that they would be welcoming a lot of new independent residents. Despite such assurances, the count actually went down during my year-long stay. A new leader drastically reduced budgets - nearly by a third. The food was subpar, having even the wheelchair-bound and walker-using residents fetching their meals from a buffet with trays. The food's quality took a dive, and the once scarce activities diminished further. Tensions escalated. On the whole, the organization seemed more inclined towards health care patients and assisted living residents. There were quite a few mentally incapacitated individuals in the dining room, creating unnecessary disturbances. By the time I packed up, roughly twelve others did the same.

"Warm and Welcoming!"
Super cozy and feels just like home. The staff are really helpful and polite. The rates are totally reasonable compared to other places nearby. I love that it's super close to the hospitals, and there are lots of activities too.

"Nice deal with helpful staff"
We checked out Scarlet Oaks. It's quite nice with good deals. They have a nice program, but we preferred another option. There's a free-standing apartment building on the property that's reopened and nice. The staff is very nice and helpful, and they can usually help with rides to the doctor if needed.

"Mixed Experience Touring Assisted Living with Varied Options"
The place was nice and clean. Our tour guide was excellent. She kept calling apartments 'rooms,' which was unsettling. We saw two units: one in the main building, 2 bed, 2 bath with 2 balconies (one screened-in), all services included except Internet and phone, for $2500/month. The other, in the 550 building, 2 bed, 2 bath, no balcony, no services, but all utilities (except Internet and phone) for $1100/month. We may choose the latter. Planning to return for lunch to try the food.

"Great place, helpful guide, considering options for assisted living."
The place was really nice and clean. Kathi, our tour guide, was excellent. She showed us around, but it was a bit confusing when she called the apartments 'rooms'. We checked out two units: one in the main building with two beds, two baths, and two balconies (one screened-in), including all services and utilities except for Internet and phone, for $2500 a month. The other one was in the 550 building, also two beds, two baths, but no balcony and no services, though it included utilities except for Internet and phone, for $1100 a month. We might go with the second option. We're going back for lunch to try out the food.

"Great value, nice apartments, good food, and many services."
At first, I didn't think Scarlet Oaks was good because it was cheap. But after visiting twice, I changed my mind. It's not as modern as some places but is being renovated. It's also $600-$1000 cheaper than similar apartments. My apartment was redone the way I wanted and is really nice and big compared to others I've lived in. The food isn't as varied as I'm used to, but there are daily specials and a menu to order from. I think the food is fine. There are many services like weekly maid service and laundry. The activities are varied and interesting. They've added a dozen new people since I visited, and I'm hoping it gets full soon.

"Affordable and comfortable assisted living with varied activities and amenities"
I used to think Scarlet Oaks wasn't worth considering because it was cheaper, but after checking it out twice, I changed my mind. It's not as modern as some places, but it's getting updated. Plus, it costs $600-$1000 less than other places of similar size. They fixed up my apartment just how I wanted, and it's really nice and spacious compared to others I've lived in. The food isn't as fancy as what I've had before, but they have specials every day and a menu you can choose from. I think the food is good enough. They offer lots of helpful services like weekly cleaning and laundry. There are plenty of activities to do, and they're pretty interesting. They've also brought in a bunch of new residents since I last visited, so I hope it fills up soon!

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Campus"
Attending Catholic Mass, saying the Rosary, and receiving Communion were positive experiences. However, the facility's institutional appearance, rusty stair handrail posts, and poor maintenance were concerning. On the bright side, the campus is nicely wooded.
