The Ashford on Mt. Washington

"Assisted living facility lacked communication and proper care for aunt."
My aunt was 91 years old when she fell and broke her leg in her apartment. She couldn’t go back home after that. I found a place called The Ashford to take care of her and her cat. The people who run The Ashford seemed like they could give my aunt the help she needed, even though she couldn’t walk yet. I moved her there on [date removed], thinking it would be a good place for her. But it wasn’t. The staff didn’t communicate well, especially for someone who couldn’t get up and move around. My aunt developed bed sores that got worse and even got infected. If you only need a little help, The Ashford might be okay, but if you need more care and can’t move around easily, it might not be the best choice. I think there was a lot of miscommunication, or sometimes no communication at all, about my aunt’s care. And because she couldn’t move, her bed sores didn’t heal properly. It’s a difficult situation. My aunt passed away. I hope this was just a one-time problem. The hospice care from Serenity was great.

" Facility Neglect Leads to Turmoil for Elderly Female Resident"
My mom lived at this assisted living facility from late June to late August 2023. The environment was not very clean. Her place was not thoroughly cleaned before she moved in, with grime on countertops and floors. The room even smelled stale. The staff mostly seemed nice, especially before my mom was a resident there. They claimed they would escort my mom to her meals, but a few days passed where no one did. And after that, it wasn't consistent. The food didn't please her either. At least twice, she fell off the couch and remained on the floor for hours before assistance arrived. I had to install a camera to keep an eye on her. At 1 am, I found her on the floor and tried to reach out to the facility, but none of their provided contact numbers worked. When I drove over, I only found one staffer working. My son arrived at the same time with two other workers who really smelled of weed. There was a resident with dementia who walked into her room several times and took her stuff. Once, he hit her with her TV remote. Even though a foot doctor was supposed to visit every few weeks, she only saw him once. She had a non-healing wound on her toe due to diabetes. The next week, I got a call from the nurse there saying my mom's toe looked really bad. I already made an appointment with her main doctor, but the nurse suggested an ER visit. Following that experience, my mom never returned back to that facility. Unfortunately, she had to undergo an amputation. Not once during the four weeks when my mom wasn't there did anyone from the facility check on her. The whole experience was awful. I wouldn't suggest this facility to anyone.

"Need to improve communication and handle serious health needs"
The places where they need to get better are in how the employees and the leaders talk to each other. That would be a great beginning. They also don't let people stay there who need a lot of help with their health. It's obvious this place isn't ready to handle that.

"Mixed Feelings about Assisted Living Facility"
I visited this place, and it was alright. The entrance was nice, but the rest felt different. It was pretty clean and everyone was friendly, just had a different atmosphere.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Staffing and Care Standards"
This place had okay rooms, not too small. But the boss, nurse, and other managers stayed in their offices all day, not making sure workers did their job or hiring and training enough staff. My family member had to wait for more than an hour several times just to use the bathroom. When they fell twice, the staff didn't want to take them to the hospital. I wouldn't suggest it unless you can do everything on your own.

"Facility Lacks Decency and Respect for Residents"
The staff at this assisted living facility is horrendous, particularly the management. They don't provide suitable care for their residents who need it most. When my father-in-law passed on, they lied about erroneous charges that they didn't return. Essentially, they took his money without a rightful cause. The way my father-in-law was treated here was not only disheartening, but it was also far below the standard of care anyone, even an animal, should receive. When questioned, in my viewpoint, they untruthfully deny any misconduct and portray themselves as a victim. The management is barely on site and everything is managed inappropriately without any concern for the residents. I have photos and recorded evidence supporting these claims.

"Navigating Through Changes and Challenges at Milestone Assisted Living with Hope"
I don't have a lot to compare this place to. My dad has finally gotten used to it. The entire staff and management were changed in just two months. No one explained to the families why this happened. I think that now that the temporary management team has left and a new director has arrived, things like basic rules and trust between the staff, management, and residents will improve. We've noticed many residents and staff leaving over the past year. If it weren't for the fact that I live in the same town as Milestone and my dad is receiving hospice care, we would have moved too. I'm hopeful that things are improving. I'm pleased to see a significant effort to make things better, provide more training, update technology, and hire more staff for the residents.

"Budget-Friendly Facility with October Fee Changes"
In October, fees will increase beyond my mom's budget, but I still liked the facility.

"Great care, accepts Medicaid spend down"
I've only heard awesome things from my friend about the care her mom gets at The Ashford. I'd totally recommend it to anyone looking for a great assisted living place. It's also cool that they accept Medicaid spend down.
