The Atrium at Anna Maria

"Great Active Senior Living with Spacious Rooms and Amenities"
We picked The Atrium because we liked the big, open courtyard and the spacious dining room. The apartments are pretty good like hotel rooms, since the place used to be a hotel. It's a great spot for seniors who want to stay active, with a fitness center, pool table, and swimming pool. I would definitely suggest it to others who are looking.

"Extremely Aged Facility Lacks Cleanliness"
I really didn't enjoy it. The place felt aged, unclean and it clearly lacked in hygiene.

"Poor Communication, Mediocre Services, and Broken Promises at Atrium"
We picked Atrium because Mom liked the ads. We got an old building instead of new. Paid for help with meds but often had to do it ourselves. The recommended pharmacy was so bad, they refunded us. We canceled trips twice because the new building wasn't ready, and they didn't tell us. They broke Mom's things but only replaced stuff with receipts, not gifts. When we moved to the new building, they said there was no help with meds, which we needed. Then suddenly they said Mom couldn't manage alone. They wanted to move her to a more expensive unit without asking us first. We didn't like that, so we moved her somewhere else. We liked some activities, but we never got the benefits they promised. We had to pay for meals, and the eye doctor they work with doesn't check if he's covered by Medicare. Atrium needs to improve their communication and services.

"Perfect Place for Dementia Care"
My mom has been in the Reflections unit, which is a mix of assisted living and memory care, for about 8 months now. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a safe, secure, and loving place for a loved one with dementia. Mom is in that tricky stage where she's aware and competent enough to not fit in a pure memory care unit but needs more attention than regular assisted living can provide. The Reflection unit at the Atrium is perfect for this. Residents are at different stages of dementia and can usually find someone at their level to bond with. It's the perfect place to move along this difficult path. The facility is clean, bright, and colorful. The aides and nursing team are friendly, caring, and upbeat. They seem to really support each other and get along well. I've seen staff tired or worn out sometimes when I visit, but I've never seen anyone be rude or ill-tempered. Turnover of lower-level aides happens but isn't too frequent, which is understandable given their duties and pay. The nursing and activities teams have been consistent since we've been there, and you couldn't ask for a more caring group. They have worked hard to get to know mom and are getting her to come out of her shell and engage more. We are blessed that a neighbor told us about this place. It's a bit farther than we planned, but absolutely worth it. Whatever their team makes, they all need raises! My only minor complaint is that communication to families could be better. We're one of the few who visit regularly and try to take part. Regularly-emailed updates on staff changes and how loved ones are doing would be nice to receive without having to ask, but I get most of that info in person when visiting. If there were a big demand for regular updates, I think they'd provide it. They are a very responsive group overall.

"Friendly Assisted Living with Some Room for Improvement"
Maplewood is a very friendly and helpful place. The director goes out of her way to treat each patient personally. I’d give it 4 stars. It’s not as new as [Removed] and seems a bit dark in the patient area.
