"Facility Ignored Grandma's Pneumonia; Lacked Safety Measures"

Why would a rehab facility, full of folks prone to falls, not have bed alarms? You'd think it'd be commonplace. My 94-year-old grandma was discovered sprawled on the floor three times in one week. No one knew how long she'd been there. She wasn't confused; said she'd been on the floor for hours. Once, I stopped by to visit grandma. She was alright, her breathing sounded normal (I'm trained as a nurse, so I noticed). Six days later, I didn’t visit and she ENDS up dying from pneumonia, a form supposedly caused by inhalation [date removed]. The doctor said the X-ray looked horrible, suggesting this wasn't a sudden onset. They must've noticed her deteriorating and did nothing! My mom, who visited grandma daily, insisted on an X-ray the day she died. Their doctor dismissed it as "fine". The hospital doctor was shocked. Grandma became septic and passed away 3 hours later.

" "Shoddy Healthcare at The Grand Leads to Death: Never Recommend""

This is about The Grand's so-called "specialized health care". My wife moved in there 10 days post-back surgery, on a Friday afternoon. It took them more than a whole day to sort out her medication. They didn't provide any physical therapy or take care of her surgical wound during the weekend. The nursing team was too small and lacked proper training. A doctor made his rounds in the mornings, usually before guests could enter the building, so we missed these interactions unless we arrived super early. I tried to talk to the staff about my worries, like my wife's dizziness and lack of strength. The doctor didn't show up at all on Monday. I was resolved to catch him on Tuesday, but my wife passed away overnight. This was three and a half days after she arrived at The Grand, and the doctor hadn't seen her in over 40 hours. I believe The Grand's shoddy health care caused her death. I strongly advise against sending any loved one here for advanced nursing care.

"Quality Declines at The Grand's "Skilled" Nursing Facility"

The Good, Bad, and Downright Horrible. I'm about to give a completely honest review of THE GRAND'S "SKILLED NURSING FACILITY" in Dublin. My wife has Parkinson Disease and after a fall, she needed a recovery facility in. I used a Medicare.gov list of nursing facilities to find a place. At that time, The Grand had excellent ratings. I’ll focus on one factor, "Staffing", which was 'Above Average', and that's why I chose it. Now, Medicare.gov rates The Grand’s 'Staffing' as 'Much Below Average'. My wife stayed there for 7 months until when she had a seizure. She was rushed to the hospital with a 102-degree fever and pneumonia in both lungs. Most of the night-shift nurses at The Grand seem underprepared at best. After seven months, I’d best describe The Grand as an "UNSKILLED NURSING FACILITY".

"Inadequate Staff and Care at The Grand's Nursing Facility"

The Good, the Bad, and the Really Disappointing. I'm about to share my honest experience at the Grand's "Skilled Nursing Facility" in Dublin. My wife, a Parkinson's patient, had to recover in this place after a fall in 2019. The Medicare.gov list we used to choose a facility ranked The Grand highly. I'll focus on just one issue, "Staffing", it was ranked as "Above Average" when I chose this place. Now, according to Medicare.gov, it's rated as "Much Below Average". My wife was there for seven months until , when she had a seizure. She ended up at Riverside Methodist Hospital with a fever of 102 and pneumonia in both lungs. I found most of the night shift nursing staff to be poorly trained. In seven months, The Grand turned from a "skilled" to an "unskilled" nursing facility.

"Negligent Assisted Living Facility's Inaction Leads to Heartbreaking Loss"

While the assisted living facility is pleasing to the eyes and thoroughly clean, they proved undeniably unqualified in facilitating the required rehabilitation services. My mother, who was extremely frail after having a pacemaker placed, was transferred here for recovery therapy. We were under the impression that she was progressing, as she informed us of her walking and eating habits. Shockingly, we discovered she had been shunning her therapy and hardly consuming any food; meanwhile, the staff remained utterly tight-lipped about her condition. Despite the array of professionals present – from the physician and head nurse to floor nurses, physical therapists, and social service workers – neither myself nor my father were informed of the situation. It was only when she was expelled from the facility due to her lack of compliance with the therapy that we got a whiff of the reality. Consequently, she landed back in the hospital for over two weeks and was later transferred to a different facility for therapy, but it was tragically too late. She left us four days ago. I firmly believe that the story could have ended differently had The Grand been more proactive in their communication, especially given that my father devoted several hours daily to visit her. Please think twice before entrusting the care of your precious ones to this particular facility.

""Totally Disappointed: Lack of Care and Expertise at Facility""

Our loved one didn't get better and responses were painfully slow. It was so annoying trying to get someone to pay attention, and even more to make them understand our concerns or why we were there. The visit didn't meet our hopes and it was a big letdown regarding their know-how and kindness.

"The facility had helpful staff, but the TV was problematic."

The staff sometimes took a while to answer calls, but they were friendly and helpful when they did. My wife liked [name]'s assistance. She spent 5 weeks there and made good progress with physical therapy. The occupational therapy staff was also helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, but the TV was too complicated for a healthy adult and impossible for my wife with Parkinson's.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short: Not Recommended for Loved Ones"

First impression good. Place looks nice. Odd fake stores. Ice cream shop open few hours a week. But when it comes to patient care, it's disappointing. Not enough staff. Nurses not well-trained. Food terrible. Only positive was physical therapy. Don't recommend for treatment. Some staff rude. Social worker condescending. No concern for improving health. Take your loved ones elsewhere.

"Poor care, tragic outcome."

The place focused on looks, neglected care, missed medical needs.

"Poor Care and Neglect at Assisted Living Facility, Despite Good Therapy"

Avoid this place! It's a terrible choice for seniors working to recover their independence. My father stayed there for a little over a week. He fell two times because no one from the night shift team was around to assist him. What's worse, he was not checked by a doctor at all. In the end, we had to threaten to call an emergency squad to get them to take my father back to the hospital. Consequently, he ended up spending another week in the hospital. The one good part was the physical therapy team - they were professional and helpful. But that's about it. Everything else about this place is severe disappointment.

"Mom Readmitted to Hospital After Short Stay at The Grand"

Absolutely terrible. Just a day and a half after leaving the hospital and spending an equal amount of time at "The Grand," my mom had to be readmitted to the hospital.

"Great rehab, clean, caring staff, inconsistent meals, grandkids loved it"

I went to this place for rehab after my hip surgery. The facilities were clean and well-managed. The medical staff and assistants were very professional and caring. The rehab staff was outstanding. My only minor complaint was that the meal quality wasn't consistent. My grandkids loved the facility.

"Mixed Experience at The Grand Assisted Living Facility"

Just left rehab at The Grand. Sharing for anyone considering. 1) Rehab might not start until Monday. 2) Make sure you're assessed by their team. 3) Use call button if needed. 4) Food improved after feedback. 5) Ask for daily room cleaning. Nurses are crucial. Make sure they check your incision and monitor your vitals. Many nurses are caring. The facility is beautiful, but practices fell short.

"Unprepared Tour and Extra Charges at New Assisted Living Facility"

I booked a visit online, but they didn't even know we were coming. They also charge more for lots of stuff. At some point we'll need memory care. They didn't even offer to show us that part. Even if the building is nice and new.

"Lack of Responsibility: Missing Dentures at The Grands of Dublin"

I'm writing because The Grands of Dublin didn't handle a problem well. Last Sunday, I took my dad from room 324 to visit my mom. When I brought him back, his dinner was waiting. The next day, I took him to the James Cancer Hospital, and he realized his talking dentures were gone. He put them in their case before eating and left them on his table. When he woke up, they were missing. He told his nurse, but they couldn't find them. I searched the room too, but no luck. The staff looked everywhere, but nothing. While my dad was treated well overall, the staff didn't handle this issue properly. I talked to other staff members with no results. I spoke to the director on his discharge date, but got no response. I left three messages with the director and tried calling corporate, but couldn't leave a voicemail. My dad's dentures are crucial for communication in emergencies. It's frustrating that no one is taking responsibility or returning my messages.
