"Pandemic Overwhelms Facility: Staffing Collapses, Resident Care Evaporates"
Before deciding on this place, do your homework. Before the pandemic swept in, my loved one living there was quite well cared for. It was clean, and it seemed that the staff showed good care. Then when Covid-19 came, everything changed. The facility went into lockdown and rumors started swirling. It came out that they hid the fact that 32 residents died from Covid. The virus was spreading through the facility like wildfire. A local health department nurse, whose parent was living there, confirmed these reports. With staff members leaving, information became scarce. We had to look to the news for any updates. Within 6 months of Covid hitting, nearly all residents and staff caught the virus and now staffing levels are dangerously low. To make matters worse, patient care is now virtually nonexistent. What's been hidden is that everyone there is stuck in their rooms, unable to roam the halls or even step outside for some fresh air. Seriously reconsider if you're thinking of sending your loved one here. There's a reason this place had some of the most devastating impacts during the pandemic.

"Inadequate Care and Unclear Pricing at Assisted Living Facility"
We regretted staying at this assisted living facility for so long. My mother was in the memory care section, and the main issue we struggled with was the shortage and lack of trained staff. Often, there was only one person to look after all the residents during the night shift, which isn't practical. My mom's bathroom had a persistent urine smell, suggesting it wasn't cleaned thoroughly. We had some staff members we absolutely adored, but there were some we wish we never had to see again. My mom had 12 urinary tract infections because her undergarments were not changed regularly, and she was not getting enough showers. We had four meetings with the administration and the director to discuss these issues. However, every question we asked about care and billing was dodged. The bills kept surging, ranging from $5,000 to over $7,000, with no explanation about the increases. The facility also had this point system to categorize care needs for residents, but it seemed quite fraudulent. Despite paying more, my mother received a lower level of care. Before you decide on this place for your loved ones, please think it through. It seems like the management is more concerned with making money than providing quality care to its residents. The attractive exterior of the facility doesn't reflect what goes on inside. Leaving this place was a massive relief. I hesitantly give this place one star just to share this review - I only hope it helps others seeking care for their loved ones. Please do not consider this place.

"Avoid this place: Neglected mom, refused responsibility for her fall."
This place is terrible. My mom was tagged as likely to fall, but they didn't do anything to keep her safe. We found her on the floor, alone between the bathroom and her room. Nobody knew she was there or what happened. They sent her to the emergency room in an ambulance just to protect themselves, even though she wasn't hurt. Then they billed us for the ambulance even though it was their fault. I tried to dispute the bill and asked for them to help with the cost but they wouldn't. They didn't take any responsibility, and didn't tell us why it happened. The staff didn't care and dodged my questions. When I tried to call the managers after it happened, they didn't pick up. And if all that wasn't enough, when I decided to not let my mom stay there anymore and went to collect her stuff, they had thrown it away. It's the worst place for older people. If I could, I would rate it less than zero.

"Few Staff, Clean Facility, No Thursday Activities"
The staff is not around much. The facility is neat. Everyone living here is properly clothed. However, there was no planned activity happening on a Thursday afternoon.

"Unsatisfactory Care and Negligence at Assisted Living Facility"
Disgusted with Assisted Living Facility's Care for My Mom" As I visited the nursing home for the first time, everything appeared neat and clean, and the staff seemed very friendly. Things rapidly changed when we decided to admit my mother into the memory care unit at this facility. I have had multiple discussions with the Director regarding my mom's lack of proper care, specifically that my mom wasn't being bathed appropriately. I returned from a five day long business trip and discovered that my mom's hair was in a horrible state, it was not cleaned since I had left. Even more shocking was the impacts of daily neglect - my mother had terrible grime in her hair. Therefore, I had to visit the facility almost every day to clean her hair myself. One evening, after cleaning my mom's hair and giving her a shower, I found that her bed sheets were completely soaked and the blankets were disgusting. I was totally shocked. I pointed this out to the front desk. Sadly, the same nurse, who hardly spent any time on the floor providing care to the patients and mostly spent her time smoking outdoors, always had the audacity to be rude. When the aide returned to my mom's room, I asked her why my mom's bed was left in such poor condition, and she muttered something about being short staffed. I understood that this meant my mom would have slept in that filth had I not been there to rectify it. We don't receive any government aid and have been paying a hefty sum for this awful nursing home. I am intent on moving my mom out of this negligent place. I have spoken to the main Director until I'm blue in the face and still, no positive change has occurred. I must note that there is one hardworking nurse on that floor that does a great job, however, the laziness of the others greatly hinders their overall performance. It's high time they get serious about their duties because based on what I've seen, those at the nurse's station do next to nothing and hardly volunteer to help.

"Avoid this Care Facility: Mother Neglected and Conditions Unsanitary"
Please Reconsider Before Admitting Loved Ones to This Facility" I must say at first glance, the nursing home appeared clean and the staff seemed friendly. That is, until my mother was placed in the Memory Care ward. I had to speak with the Director about my mother not receiving her showers. I was away on a business trip for five days, and when my husband and I returned, it was clear that her hair hadn't been washed since I last did it, almost a week ago. Even worse, she ended up with cradle cap - a skin condition in her scalp. This meant I had to visit nearly every day just to wash her hair. Another late afternoon, after taking care of my mother's hair and shower, I pulled back the covers on her bed, only to find the sheets were soaked and the blankets filthy. I was shocked and disgusted. After informing a nurse - who, for the record, spends more time outside smoking and off the floor than actually working - turns out the reason for the uncleanliness was a shortage of nursing aids. With this shortage, my mother would have been left to sleep in such conditions if I hadn't been there. Despite receiving no government help and paying a significant amount for this nursing home, the quality of care is deplorable. I'm planning to move my mother out of this horrendous facility. No amount of talks with the main Director has improved conditions. There's one single nurse who does their job well, but their hard work is undermined by the indifference of the rest. This facility needs a thorough cleanup and a fresh crew who genuinely want to work. Instead, it's packed with lazy aids who hang around at the nurses desk doing nothing, never taking the initiative to help.

"Friendly Staff and Clean Facility, Not the Best Fit"
I had a positive experience touring The Lakes Monclova. The staff was very friendly, and the tour guide knew a lot. The facility was clean and well-organized. I would suggest it to others looking for a place, but it wasn’t the best fit for my loved one's needs.

"Outcry Against Neglectful Elderly Care Facility"
A relative of mine was once in a place similar to Monclova, but in a different state, that has since been demolished. It absolutely shocks me that one of my family members was in this facility. It seems that rather than focusing on patient care, the assistants are constantly on their cell phones. Why isn't there a rule banning cell phones during work hours? On top of that, how could an aide forget to deliver a patient's dinner tray? Moreover, why aren't the nurses consistently checking patients' vital signs at regular intervals? To me, it appears this facility lacks professional, caring staff. They seem to show up for a paycheck and nothing more. It's an absolute shame how the elderly are treated here. I predict this place, too, will be torn down soon and someone will be held accountable for this appalling lack of care.

"Second Thoughts About Monclova's Elderly Care"
I've experienced similar facilities in the past. For instance, my mother was in one, much like Monclova, in a different state. That facility got torn down eventually. It's heartbreaking knowing a relative was under their care. Instead of caretakers focusing on patients, they're usually distracted by their phones. Why aren't any rules regarding phone usage during work? Secondly, how possible is it for an aid to overlook meals for the elderly? Shouldn't meals be a high priority? Third, how come nurses aren't routinely checking vital signs? It seems to be common sense to do so. It's crystal clear that the staff here lack both the professionalism and compassion needed for this field. It seems they're only in it for their salaries. Truly, it's an outrage how our older generation is being handled. I have a strong feeling that, in due course, this place will meet a similar fate to the one my mother was in. Someone will undoubtedly have to answer for this gross neglect.

"Overpriced Assisted Living Facility With Poor Staff and Terrible Care"
This place doesn't have enough employees and the ones they do have are not trained well. My mom was there recently and even though I talked with the staff and the director multiple times about problems, those issues happened again and again. Many times, my mom couldn't reach the call button because it had fallen under her bed, they often forgot to attach her alarm, and her room stunk like pee. One of the employees even admitted to me that they use cheap catheter bags. One time, my mom fell out of bed and nobody knows how long she was there on the ground. This place costs a lot but they don't take good care of the people there.

"Former Resident Warns: Looks Deceive at Subpar Rehab Facility"
Stay away from this place! I was there for a month recovering from a stroke and experienced countless issues. They messed up my medicine several times each week, and the housekeeping was awful. The food was either cold, nonexistent, or in measly amounts. I even caught a foot fungus there! To make matters worse, there were millipede bugs everywhere, including my shoes. Whenever I'd bring up issues to the staff, they'd just point the finger at somebody else, and the boss was no help at all. The building was also left unlocked at night. I stayed in autumn 2014, and now the Ohio Health Department is taking my complaints. Remember: things aren’t always as they seem, so be careful!

"Gross Negligence and Poor Services: Beware!"
Steer clear of this place! I spent a month there recovering from a stroke and dealt with consistent medication errors, poor cleaning services, lousy food, insufficient meals, or sometimes, no food at all. I even picked up a foot fungus, found millipede bugs in my shoes, and the staff just blame each other for everything. The head person did nothing when I brought up my issues. They didn't even lock the building at night! My visit was in fall 2014, and now the Ohio Health Department is sorting out my complaints. Don't be fooled by the facade, be warned.

"Neglected Patient Suffers at Inadequate Living Facility"
The staff at this assisted living facility were extremely incompetent and the level of care was very disappointing. My father was moved to this place for a 20-day rehabilitation period following a hospital stay. Nobody bothered to guide him around or show him where things were. He had a fall within the first half-hour of getting there, and there was no staffer nearby to give assistance. Despite us giving clear instructions about how to test and administer insulin for his diabetes, they were neglected. As a result, my dad came close to or actually fell into a diabetic coma not once, but four times. On one occasion, he had to be taken to the ER from his dialysis session, and the facility didn't even realize he was absent.
