"Safe Haven with Caring Hearts"
I thought the facility and grounds were really nice and well taken care of. My mom and I loved the memory care fenced yard where residents planted things. Most of the staff were caring, even though they had a tough job due to being understaffed at times. Aides named and were like angels. However, the medical staff seemed overwhelmed occasionally, and patient medications weren't always given correctly. Despite that, I know your facility isn't the same as home, but for many, it's the safest place to be. I visited every day while my mom was there, and there are many dedicated people with good hearts caring for the patients.

"Friendly but understaffed assisted living; adequate for safety, not home."
Some of the workers are really good, but they don't have enough staff and there are always new people. The building is smaller and everyone is nice. I go there every day to check on my mom and make sure she's getting the help she needs. It's not like being at home, but it's pretty safe.

"Unfair Treatment, Refund Delay and Ignored Calls at Assisted Living"
My husband, stricken early with Alzheimer's, briefly stayed in their memory care area. Over those 5 days, I had to bathe him myself and once, were even asked to stay overnight. Sadly, within 5 days, he was transferred to a hospital due to issues with his behavior. After 30 days at the hospital, this facility wouldn't let him come back. They promised to return my first month’s payment minus those initial days. However, they refused to provide a refund for the $ community fee, stating they paid it to a finders service. After speaking with this service, it became clear that no such payments were made by the facility. Now, after nearly two months, I still haven't received my refund of over $. They won't even return my calls.

"Personalized Care and Community Feel at The Landing of Long Cove"
The lady we met at The Landing of Long Cove was really nice. She seemed to really care about the people who live there. Many of the residents have been there for a long time, so that must mean the care is good. The best thing about the place is that it's small, so everyone knows each other, and the staff knows the residents well. The facility could use a little updating, though.

"Dim Lighting and Small Rooms"
The lady who showed us around was really friendly and knew a lot. The building seemed pretty old, maybe from the late 70s or 80s, and the lights hadn't been changed, so it wasn't very bright inside. I didn't think my Mom would be too happy about that. The rooms were also smaller compared to some other places we visited.

"New Management Transforms Facility Into Loving Home"
My mother has lived here for 2 years now. I almost moved her out because of so many issues with the staff and care. Then the whole management team changed, and we had a meeting about moving her. The Executive Director asked me to give them a chance to fix things. I’m so glad I did. The new team turned this place into a real home. They truly care and give their best every day. My mom is happy, well cared for, and loved. You can see it in how much better she feels and how much more she wants to live. The activities and food really make her life better, and she has made some great friends. This community has a heart of gold, and I wouldn’t want her anywhere else.

"Dad’s Care Not Quite Worth the Price Tag"
My dad's okay at this place, but honestly, I don't think we're getting what we paid for. I've got a bunch of small problems that I really shouldn't have, considering we're forking over so much cash. It seems like they don't have enough staff. Dad's care isn't as good as I want it to be. The place could be cleaner. The staff is mostly nice, but really, this spot isn't worth the money we're spending.

"Birthday Letdown"
I went to see a relative on his birthday. We told the staff about it beforehand, even mentioned three of us would join him for lunch. But when we got there, there was no table set for us. They even told everyone in the dining room we were coming. I was bummed that they didn't do anything special for his birthday. A little cake would've been nice. The whole thing left me feeling really disappointed. Just wanted to share.

"Care Issues at Assisted Living Facility"
I want to let you know that the care and help given to residents do not match your goals. I have seen laundry sitting in hampers for weeks. I have heard complaints about clothes getting lost or left in washers for days. I saw a resident tell an employee that his toilet was stopped up, and he was told it would be fixed quickly. We waited for over an hour for someone from housekeeping to come with a plunger. One employee was studying at a table, and others were talking about things not related to resident care. I finally asked the person studying to notify housekeeping about the problem. Housekeeping was gone for the day, so I asked her to find a plunger to fix the toilet. She found one and handed it to me. It took me less than 5 minutes to fix the problem, which I thought the employee should have done. I am upset that this wasn't taken care of in a reasonable time.

"Good Place for Some, Not for All"
I checked out this place and it was alright. It seems good for folks who don’t need a lot of help. My mom and dad need more than that. The room they showed us was pretty cool, but it’s made for people who can do most things by themselves and just want to be around others, not in a big house. You get to make the bedroom and living room cozy, and there’s a bathroom and a little kitchen area with a tiny fridge and microwave. There’s a huge place to eat, but it felt like too much for my parents, and I was worried no one would notice if they didn’t eat. It was too easy to get in and out of the building, which didn’t make me feel safe. They didn’t even show us the part of the place for people with memory problems. They charge you extra for help with bathing or giving out meds. It’s a nice spot, but it’s not the right fit for us.

"Improvements Needed, Aunt Happy but Concerns Remain"
This place has good and not-so-good parts. I think they need more staff, especially on weekends. My aunt seems happy here, but we're still figuring things out. Sometimes, I worry she's not getting proper care. I'm meeting with the director to talk about these issues. The nurses are good at keeping me updated. The food is tasty. Overall, we're still figuring things out, hoping for better care.

"Nice Management Team"
The management is great, and they really care about the residents. But the memory care needs some improvements. The staff does a good job, but there's not enough personal attention. They promised a program to show residents pictures of their loved ones in movie mode, but I haven't seen it yet. Also, they seem understaffed, which affects the quality of care. I thought this community was the best choice, but I haven't seen all the greatness they promised. My mom has been here for a little over a month, and I hope they improve.

"Definite Letdown: Service Quality Below Par and Missing Items"
This place is no match to Brookdale! I find myself having to tidy up my Mother's room, especially the bathroom, every time I visit. Even though we're paying for personal services, the quality here is nowhere near our previous experience at Emeritus. The staff rotation is very high and it seems most of the aides receive on-the-spot training. Shockingly, there are no certified nurses on duty. We've also dealt with lost personal items, including a set of dentures. To top it all off, I've discovered my Mother dressed in other residents' clothing!

"Avoid! Brookdale's Management and Billing Mess-Up"
I wholeheartedly concur with Courtney and Lauren. My mom was at this place when it was known as Emeritus and it was wonderful - the staff were fantastic. However, things took a turn for the worse when Brookdale stepped in. I was told "it's all about business now" by the people in charge. The pricing shown on this site is completely off. It's way more and they just switch up the costs whenever they feel like. They sent me a $9000 a month bill for past expenses they chose to charge me, despite never getting me to sign any agreements for these. I moved my mom to a much nicer place where she sadly passed away in peace and surrounded by genuine care. I simply want the same nurturing environment for your loved ones as well but unfortunately, you won't find it at Brookdale. They even had the audacity to bring my deceased mother's account to a debt collector over their own billing mistakes.

"Brookdale: Expert in Billing, Fails Miserably in Caring"
I'd warn even my biggest rivals to stay away from Brookdale. It's clear that they're understaffed and there's close to zero empathy for their residents. Their employees come and go so quickly, mainly because anyone worth their salt gets sick of the low pay and lack of recognition and quits. They seem to hire just about anybody, even folks straight from Wal-Mart to act as new aides, who haven't received any training in patient care and lack even a shred of empathy, and often scold residents. It wouldn't be surprising to find your loved one forced to sit in their own filth for a couple of hours with no assistance, only to be told that their call button was buggy due to "phone issues." This old chestnut has been their go-to excuse for a year now. The higher-ups, particularly the director, seem to care more about the business aspect rather than actually caring for the patients. They may roll out the red carpet when you initially check out the place, and things may seem fine for a brief period, but give it a few months and you'll see the true colors of how they operate. They're all too happy to promise extra care and bill you for it. But seeing that care actually delivered? Don't hold your breath. However, they'll have no problem slapping that hefty charge into your bill and expecting you to foot it, despite your loved ones suffering from falls, sitting in soiled diapers, and lacking basic hygiene care. To be fair, not all employees are to be tarred with the same brush, a few do have genuine concern for the patients. But they're usually found in roles like kitchen staff, activity coordinators, or housekeeping, and not in roles that involve direct care for your loved ones. On the whole, Brookdale is adept at emptying your pockets, but fails utterly in providing care to your kin.

"Failed Promises, Inadequate Care - Overwhelmed, Understaffed"
My grandma's currently in this place, but we're seriously considering other options. My grandma ended up with bed sores cause she had an accident and had to wait over 2 hours for bathroom help, and sadly, it wasn't the first time this happened. Good thing my grandpa is there for her for around 12 hours daily, or she'd be even worse off. Whenever we point out issues to the director, he just tells us what we want to hear to get rid of us. Then nothing changes. They've only got 2 aides for the whole place, and one only for memory care. The long and short of it is, Brookdale takes in residents who need more than "assisted living". They advertise extra care at an additional cost so you think your loved one will be cared for. But the truth is they’ll take more of your money and not provide the service you paid for. Unless your loved one can manage mostly on their own beyond cooking and laundry, this is NOT the place for you, don’t believe if they claim otherwise. Quick note: Some of the aides are helpful and kind. But they're taken advantage of, overworked, and undervalued which often leads them to quit. Consequently, there are always new faces around, making communication between nurses, aides, and administration pretty terrible.

"Escape Quickly From This Dishonest Facility!"
Don't trust the folks in charge here at all. They aren't truthful and they don't really look out for the people living here. Just find out how long the staff has been working here. It seems like they're always leaving... Get out of there fast! If I had it my way, I wouldn't even give this place a single star. In my opinion, it deserves way less than that! Seriously, get out of there as quick as you can!

"Declined Quality and High Prices Led to Move"
This place used to be good when Emeritus owned it, but ever since Brookdale bought it, it's not been the same. I started to notice a lot of mistakes in both how they cared for people and how clean the place was. Even after I talked to the staff about these issues, they didn't solve them. The quality of their service went down, but strangely, their price went up. So, I decided to move my loved one to another place.

Things have been going well at Emeritus at Long Cove Pointe. The community looks nice and clean, and the staff are friendly. Although my loved one hasn't been here long, she seems to be enjoying herself.
