The Wellington at Dayton

"Friendly staff, clean facility, needs more food choices."
Pleasant experience. The staff is friendly. My mother doesn't complain about the food but wants more choices. The facility is clean, and the caretakers do a good job cleaning the rooms. Overall, a good experience.

"Mixed Feelings on Staff and Care"
The Wellington has some great workers and some not-so-great ones. A bunch are really kind and warm-hearted, but often, there’s just not enough people around to help, especially during weekends and at night. My family member needs someone to be there for her all the time, every single day. Luckily, she sleeps well, which is a huge plus. For now, we’re looking after her by ourselves and it’s going okay. If things get tougher, we’ll get some professional care.

"Nice place with friendly people and good tour"
The place was very nice, and the people were friendly. I really liked it. The cost of care wasn't the same for everyone. The tour was very good.

"Clean and Comfortable Assisted Living with Room for Improvement"
This place is good and always clean. I come every week. They keep my mom's room very clean, which is great. The food is good and there are many choices. They communicate with our family okay; we haven't had any problems. My only worry is that maybe mom isn't getting enough attention. Her room is at the very back, so I'm not sure if that's why. I'll talk to them about it. They are good at responding when she presses the help button. I would tell my family and friends to use them.

"Assisted Living Review"
We love the community’s stylish décor and modern feel. The variety of meal options for residents is fantastic. However, staffing issues occasionally lead to missed tasks.

It was really nice, but it was too far south for us.

"Avoid Wellington's Memory Care - Dysfunctional, High Staff Turnover"
I had my mom stay in a brand new memory care facility for 9 months. The place had a cheerful atmosphere, didn't feel like a hospital, and the food was praiseworthy. Before I delve into the negatives, I must say, we informed them from the start that we would shift to Medicaid. Unfortunately, they led us blindly without clarifying that Medicaid isn't accepted. To be fair, we might not have asked explicitly, yet I think we probably did. They ought to have warned us proactively. Additionally, staff movement was alarmingly high, leading to most days having less than the required strength - a good 80% of the time. My mom's recurrent falls leading to five emergency department (ED) visits forced us to hire a personal aide, mainly because the staff were habitually on the phone. Supposedly trained to care for Alzheimer's patients, the aids were unfortunately noisy and impatient. Communication was a big problem. Standard responses to our inquiries were "I don't know". The usual handoff communication between nurses was virtually absent. Sticking to the facts, although it was a new setup for the club, it doesn't justify their shortcomings. Despite a few good aides and nurses, most left due to the operational chaos. The silver lining was that moving our mom turned out to be a positive change.

"Considering New Assisted Living Community for Client's Family Member"
My client’s family thinks this place is better than her current one. They believe it offers more activities. It's bigger, so she can meet more people and socialize more. The place is clean and the staff is friendly and knows their stuff.

It’s been a journey for my mom since she moved to this place. Things are improving overall. It was tough at first, but they’ve stepped up and made things better. So far, this community is meeting my mom’s needs.

"Top Choice for Mom's Needs"
My mom's doing great here. It's perfect for her. She feels safe and gets excellent care. Only problem she's had is with the dining staff being slow. Besides that, the care staff is good. They have lots of activities, and she's tried some. She likes the food. Overall, it's been good, and I'd suggest it to others. It's a nice place.

"Inconsistent Food, Maintenance Response Lacking, Clean Common Areas"
The food sometimes tastes good and sometimes not so much, and it's never the same. When I tell them about my worries, only the marketing director listens. We've been trying to fix something in the building, but it seems like they don't have enough people working on it. It'd be great if they could at least let us know they got our message. The places everyone uses are kept tidy, but we have to keep asking when they'll clean my mom's space. She enjoys her room, and there are things for her to do every day.

"Stay Away From Gem City: Looks Can Deceive!"
There were absolutely no activities to engage in. Gem City? More like Phoney City! They sure don't care about their residents or their families. Sure, their food was decent and the place looks great from the outside, but don't let that fool you. Do some research before choosing them. I can't in good conscience recommend this place. I hope my regrettable experience can help others avoid the same mistake we made.

"Avoid Wellington of Dayton for Assisted Living Needs!"
This webpage doesn't have enough room for me to write down every problem my mom faced in Wellington of Dayton. Even when I tried discussing these problems with their overseeing company [Removed], they completely ignored me despite all the facts I shared with them. During my mom's stay at Wellington of Dayton, we had tons of meetings with the Director and chief nurse, but nothing good came out of it. I had to call emergency services thrice when I found my mom unresponsive! Also, there were multiple times when she informed me that no one answered her call button. Though the caregivers seem like they really "care", there weren't enough of them to deliver on the promises they made before we signed the agreement. The most terrifying part was discovering untreated wounds on my mom, which is very dangerous. Her new living facility identified these wounds on her first day and they called in wound specialists to take care of them. Wellington might impress you with a nice story when you're visiting, but it shouldn't be your choice if your loved one requires assisted living. We had to keep visiting daily to make sure they were doing what they were paid for. We could finally breathe easy when we moved her to another facility nearby.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living Facility"
My family thinks it's okay, but she's still getting used to it. She whines about the usual things. The food isn't her favorite, and she thinks the staff takes too long to respond. But the other people living there seem nice and have been friendly to her.

"Frustrations High, Seeking New Facility"
The staff at this assisted living facility frequently changes. My loved one often has to wait a long time after pressing the call button. Many times, they've had to wait half an hour just to go to the restroom. The way they give out medications isn't done correctly. We're actively looking for a new place. Over the past year, there hasn't been anyone to drive the bus for resident outings. The place looks great, the meals are tasty and the apartments are kept tidy by the cleaning team.

This place is really nice and friendly. The food is good, and there are plenty of activities. But it's not the best choice if you need more than just routine medications.

"Top-notch Assisted Living: Clean, Friendly, and Outstanding Staff!"
I'm super into keeping things tidy, so I can't rate anywhere perfect, but it's definitely clean. The people living here are cool and welcoming. And the workers? Awesome! Moving my mom here was the best choice ever!

"Overpriced and Underwhelming: Expect More for Assisted Living"
Nope, just no. It's way too expensive for what you get and I'm being generous with 2 stars. The outside area isn't good, the rooms and hallways are not pretty at all. Even though it's only an eight-year-old building, it feels like it's forty. The decoration is so dull. On the brighter side, the place does have a fireplace and the elevators are working fine.

"Not Quite the Right Fit"
They were friendly, but not the right match for us. The rooms were far from the dining area, and the recent flood left things messy. Plus, they were pricier than other options.

"Comfortable Living Space with Helpful Staff and Scenic Views"
I moved my mom in, there was water damage, but her room was nice and clean with high ceilings and a large window overlooking the courtyard. The staff is always willing to help, though they sometimes take longer than usual to respond to alarms from residents due to the level of care needed. Encouragement from staff to participate in activities would help newcomers feel more at ease. The food is better than my mom's previous residence. Parking in front can be challenging, but most residents park in the back.

"Almost Perfect Choice, But Shared Rooms"
This would have been my top pick if Elmcroft didn’t offer shared rooms. The nursing director was amazing—knowledgeable and reassuring. I spent 2 hours on the tour and even returned for a second visit.
