"Aberdeen’s Care Quality Declines After Director Retires"
My mother-in-law used to live at Aberdeen, and it was great because the people running it were super nice and always kept us in the loop. But ever since the person in charge retired a few months ago, it’s not the same anymore. They told us she could stay there as she got older, but then she had to go to the hospital and they said she might not be able to come back. They were supposed to check on her at the rehab place, but they never did, and she had to spend the holidays away from her home at Aberdeen. Later, she had a stroke and went into hospice care, and that’s where she died. You’d think the folks at Aberdeen would’ve called to ask about her, especially since she was gone for three weeks, but we haven’t heard anything from them. It’s just not the caring place it used to be, so don’t get tricked by all the good stuff people used to say.

"New Director Plunges Assisted Living Facility into Decline"
In the recent few months under the new leadership, things have taken a bad turn. - The staff seems unhappy. - The food, previously excellent, has dropped in quality and quantity. In fact, it's gotten so bad and meager that my mom has to snack in her room because the meals don't fill her up. - The number of nurses has been slashed and their hours have been cut back. Plus, the person in charge of the nursing team is difficult and hardly ever returns our calls. - As if that's not enough, they've hiked up the fees, despite the reduced services and quality. - Things hit rock bottom when the wonderful Activities Director quit. She was excellent at her job and she propped up this place single-handedly. It's a shame that they couldn't recognize her value. I no longer recommend this facility for anyone's loved ones. Though there are a few great nurses here who I feel sorry for, I hope they find better workplaces where they're truly valued.

"Lovely place, but medication costs added up."
We loved Brookdale Shoals! The grounds were beautiful, and it felt very welcoming. The location was great, close to home and family. The price was reasonable, but adding medication administration cost an extra $500 a month, which made it too expensive for us.
